Maybe wrap the piston with paper and then use painters tape at the bottom edge, sticking it to the paper and the flat part of the cylinder.

I just wouldn't care. At least people could see you bought good name brand shocks and not some cheap KYBs or something.

We're talking about OEM replacements here. On that level KYB=KONI=TOKICO, though koni reds are adjustable
We're not comparing YELLOWS to AGX or anything like that.

Moar in my thread.

One of my new rims arrived today! So when I got home I took the rear wheel off and held the new rim on to the hub and concluded that I'm definitely going to need my guards rolled. The other rims are going to arrive one a day so I'll have them all by Friday and I'll take them and the tires down to Beurepaires so they can fit them.

EDIT: Now with picture!

Recent jobs:

- New rear wheel bearings
- Installed Racing Beat toe eliminators
- Poly left front LCA bushings (ran out of time)
- Fixed the hinge on a storage compartment
- Attached the hinge on my cargo cover

I still have plenty of parts for underneath the car. Transmission mount blocks, right from LCA bushings, and rear LCA bushings which require removal of the whole subframe. Inside, I have to rivet my VIN tag to my new defroster vent and install it, then attend to my center armrest cover, and at that point the interior will basically be in excellent shape.

So ya, blew the whole rear end on the Camaro. 4th Gens are notorious for their fragile rear ends. It was only a matter of time. Switching up to a stronger Auburn LSD and changing the ratios from 3.42's to 3.73's.

I removed the tint and replaced the turn indicator stalk on the steering column, so no more allen wrench turn signals for me.

What's up guys,

While normally I'd post some variety of mundane response regarding what I did to my car today (i.e. didn't crash it :sly:) but I actually installed this saweet wing spoiler for my RSX from acurapartswarehouse.com:

I think that it's a subtle yet tasteful modification to the exterior 👍 Makes it look more aggressive!

Put a new radiator in. Combined with a week of cut hours at work and bills coming back up soon, this really delayed some big plans I had hoped to finish paying for next weekend :banghead:

Installed second-gen Acura Legend hood shocks to replace that annoying old-timer prop rod. Need to cut a bit of the fender lip in the bay for the hood to sit perfectly flush, but these things kick ass! I'd have mounted them to hold the hood more vertical (quick change of the used bolt hole in the lower shock mount, should I change my mind) but if you're not ready for the height, they're strong enough to launch the hood out of your hand.

Finally a pic of the H in the car, too!

Dig that setup, Cyborg. Looks pretty nice, and better for working underhood with the prop rod out of the way.

As for what I did today, I detailed the interior of my wife's Fiesta. Next will be the wash & wax tomorrow.

EDIT: Wash and wax done today.

Yesterday at about 1 pm I sent a complaint letter to Stance about my front lower mount locking collars refusing to stay tight, and their spanner wrenches not being strong enough to deal with them. I said I would like to replace the stock locking collars, and get two more to double up on either side.

Today at about 4:30 pm the UPS man dropped off a box with four new collars, a couple new spanners, and four thumb knobs for the damper adjusters. They must be of a new design because they don't fit, but I appreciate the gesture.

Free parts + one day turnaround = good customer service.

I grind-ed away a little bit of the shock so that my new-ish tires wouldn't rub.

You WHAT?!? Oh dear... Should have bought the right size instead of cheap mis-fitting crap...

Well they were mis-fitting by 2mm and actually my other Rx7 already had that done.
But now If there are expensive light rims I'll have that extra 2mm in offset.

Keep this in mind: 17x9 is as wide a wheel as you should get. With that, don't go higher than +25 offset, and don't go lower than +15. Higher and they're dangerous close to aftermarket coilovers which are already skinnier than the stock springs and dampers, and lower and you'll be having a helluva time pulling your fenders.

Which part of the shock did you grind?

I fabricated and installed new brake lines from the distribution block to the rear brakes. Will bleed them tomorrow, but the car back on its rear wheels, then jack up the front and get to work on the suspension.

*snip*
The very bottom part. And not a lot either. On the other 7 they were grinded away even further.:scared:

I second this idea.

Besides a 2mm clearance won't last long when you put lateral load on the tires

:odd: There isn't that much flex on the top of a tire. I mean If I'm wrong, I'm wrong but I have never heard the top of a tire flexing being an issue. Unless that's not what you meant.

Well these are 18x8 with a +42. And even without grinding anything away there was hardly a mark on the tire.

The hub flexes. Yes, the part your wheel is bolted to bends when you turn.

Any pictures of the "fitment"?

It is now 2:30am. No work tomorrow... or today, however you want to look at it. Going to fill up, grab a soda and head out into the foothills for a nice drive

Got the tires put on the rims today and I installed them tonight, it looks sexy as! Took it for a little drive and I have severe rubbage on the slightest of bumps, just as I thought, I need to get the rear guards rolled. Totally worth it though :)

So, who knows someone in Brisbane who does a good job and is careful with paint??

Nope, but I did just have my fenders rolled. Always ask them if they use a heat gun.
