STB - 25hp, plus 5 more for each missing nut, bolt and washer as long as the bar stays on

well usually i do something to my car something once a months, but today im actually getting rid of it and buying a brand new Nissan Altima 3.5 V6 SE with a 6 speed manuell and full options.
I'm so happy about the manuel gearbox, cause MT's aren't popular here at all.I had to order that and wait for ages for the car to arrive.

Will posts pics either today or tomorrow of the car 👍

I installed a roll cage.

I really want/need a car.

It's simple

1. Get a job or two
2. Save all your money
3. Buy a car

Step 1 and 2 aren't applicable if your parents are going to buy you a car, but people, and your parents, will sure respect you a lot more if you do them. Step 1 is pretty hard though depending on where you live and your connections, plus you're 15 so that doesn't help.

Getting a job at a fast food place is pretty easy and you'll easily be able to save up enough to buy basic wheels. And they are a dime a dozen so you should be able to find one you can ride your bike to or even walk. It's not a great job by any means but if you really want a car you do have to work for it.

STB are critical for unibody vehicles. They don't add hp but structurally stiffen up the body so that you can put more power to the ground when you get it without twisting the body out of shape.
It also helps the handling and feel of the suspension.
I thought I'd clear that up for ya. :dopey:

I worked at McDonalds for three years when I got started working and it taught me alot.
The money wasn't very good but it was still work. 👍

And congrats Chris on the stick Maxima man. Should be alot of fun to drive. Pics ftw. :dopey:

$50? Wow you get screwed. I buy them when it's BOGO at the auto parts store, which typically happens every 6 months.

I can't replace them on the rear of my car so I'm not sure how they work. My dealer gives me (crappy) blades for free so I just let them change out the rear every service.
They cost over 20 a piece at Autozone and the like. Auto parts stores have sales?

Nice. You've made an exact copy of what's-his-name's car. Too bad you can't get the crazy wheel fitment he's got.

Depends on where you go, there is a mom and pop type of store up in town that I go to from time to time. If they don't have what I need I just go to O'Reilys or Murry's or whatever the hell it is now.

I avoid AutoZone, they sold me some non-Icon blades because the guy assured me they were better and they were BOGO while the Icons weren't. Worst wiper blades ever. I think they were Anco's or something but they didn't even fit my car properly and left all sorts of streaks. They also can't read CEL codes for beans.

Finally got the new backboxes fitted to the 911 this week.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get it above 3k revs yet to see what it really sounds like as we have too much snow and ice! Still, the sound at low revs is exactly what I was hoping for... a lovely burble (much like the noise an older, aircooled 911 makes), which drops off as soon as the throttle is eased back... sounds great on toe n heeled down changes too :)

GT3 tail pipes should be here in another week or so too... so it won't look like it has a couple of pea shooters for tail pipes anymore.

You've been taking it out in this weather?

Misnblu, I can testify that Stotty's 911 sounds rather nice, I imagine the new backboxes make it sound even nicer.

Got a new grille for the deer hit I suffered earlier last year, tomorrow getting a new handbrake swapped in. :D

Cheers.

It hasn't been far

I drove it for the first time after Tuesday's snow fall on Thursday... the roads had cleared a bit, but still had a thin layer of snow over a thin layer of ice... it felt almost undrivable... 25mph, 4th gear, touch the throttle and it's immediately sideways even with the stabilty management on... fortunately it's got enough torque on tickover to get around

Went to fetch a Chinese take-away in it Friday night and with no traffic about I could have a bit of a play (I was inspired by a Youtube video of Walter Rhol driving a GT2 on an Alpine pass at ridiculous speed). I found that turning off the traction control/stability control made it a lot easier to drive... the wheels spin (all the time, in every gear!), but it's pretty easy to induce then control slides once you get a feel for it (at relatively slow speeds, at least) ... in fact the main problem is the complete lack of front end grip rather than rear.

Looking forward to giving it a proper run on Wednesday as I have to go to Oxford for a meeting.

Thanks 👍 but why do you guys call it a Maxima? Another buddy of mine here on GTP also referred to it as a Maxima... why. Its an Altima so call it the way it is supposed to be called :scared:

I'm saying this because i really didn't/dont like the old Maxima's, even though the new one is looking very sharp! I love what Nissan is doing with their cars!

Today i bought the car but i have to finish the insurance stuff tomorrow morning, then i will collect my Altima :)

So far, only one mobile pic

Will post more tomorrow if it stops raining. Will head over to Burj Khalifa & Burj al Arab

Chris, sorry about the confusion with the Altima. :indiff:
Gorgeous car and color and looks to be alot of fun with the stick shift instead of the usual auto tranny that most people go with.
Nice to see some people still enjoy driving their car instead of it being rudimentary transportation. :)

Sounds like fun.
Too bad I've been driving fwd cars for too long to get out and try some tail wagging with the 944 yet. It's going to take awhile before that happens.
Can't wait to hear a sound clip of it as there's not a sweeter sound than a good boxer engine. :)

Do you have a link to the youtube video? I can't find it at all and I'd love to see it!

no problem :) 👍 thanks for the compliments. yea it sure will be fun with its 6 speed and 285hp :D cars dont have catalytic converters here and no need for emission tests so the cat backs and silencer's will be removed shortly

Its funny cause in EU you need to pay extra money to get an automatic, over here i had to pay extra to get a manuel!

Its still raining slightly and haven't finished with the insurance yet.

Chris 👍

Nice vids and makes me want to trade in the 944 for anything in the 911 lineage. :D
