I naively thought boost was the slipstream effect until i noticed in settings for custom races both boost and slipstream. I'm guessing it doesn't relate to turbos and maybe more towards rubberbanding?

It also seemingly allows for ridiculous lap times during lobby pre-race warm up. You know the one, where you enter Dragon Trail Seaside with your Gr2 and get the binoculars going... only to see that someone has done a 'one minute eighteen' in an NSX changing its own gears and with all the help switched on...

Only that GTA slows the leaders down instead of speeding the backmarkers up ;)

Isnt GTA Grand Theft Auto??? I thought the goal of that game was to punch someone in the face, yank them out of their car, then steal their car and ram everything in sight?? Is there racing on GTA too?? I never played it so I really dont know. In fact the only games I have played are Gran Turismo (all of them), Need for Speed, F1 racing, and Forza. I know, not all PS, I have Xbox too. (I think I have all of the Playstation and Xbox decks yet)

Story mode you can race avt's, seadoos, trucks, do triathalons. Rather simple stuff
GTA online is very different than GTAV. You can enter/create races in the world that resemble huge hot wheels tracks. Think TrackMania Turbo. They have also added actual races with cars. It's actually quite amazing what Rockstar has done.

This should never be included in any serious racing game. Even not when optional.

What does it hurt? It's an option. If you don't want it, don't use it. I wouldn't use it but it has a purpose and I see no reason to deny that option to someone who wants to run a race like that.

Sark

I avoid any race with boost like the plague.
If you can put down consistent lap times in a race and they don't even have to be fast laps then boost is your worst enemy.
It just allows those people who wreck and run off the track every chance they get to catch back up with the group so they can keep ruining the race for others over and over again.

Yes, there are a lot of racing stuff in GTA Online. Normal racing, stunt racing, and different shooting-racing modes and with race tracks creator. It's a lot of fun, especially the first two.
I've got over 3000 wins over there :)
And after GTS my driving in GTA improved a bit :)
