In what aspect do you think GT5 shines the brightest? Is it the physiscs engine, cars, tracks etc..Basically, what gives you that feeling of amazement that no other racing game can deliver?

Its the car list for me

They have *almost* every car I could ever want

Also, as far as I know, its the only game that supports SuperGT, which is radical.

Physics won me over for sure.

The interior modeling of the premium is certainly one of the best I've seen. Graphics is really, really good, but the consistency is what's holding it back.

Also, there isn't any any game out there I don't think that can execute real time change and weather in actual 24 time. Racing the 24 hour Nurb. was just beautiful. If all tracks did this, it would seal the deal for all racing games.

Unfortunately, I was not into the single player experience as I've had in previous GTs.

The reach and development of the overall ownership/maintenance philosophy that is unique to GT series from 1997 comes at first.

Creating an overall sensation of driving a car on the track comes as second.

Physics and wheel FFB implementation comes as third.

Comfort tyres, expecially after 2.0. Some cars can give that "instant smile" while driving. For instance the 370z on comfort hards. Before 2.0 I thought comfort sucks but after the patch I have a totally different feeling.

And the Nordschleife with night/day transitions. EPIC track.

For me it's the day/night transition. I get a real feeling of reservation when it gets dark, which in turn gives me a strange sense of bravery rather than foolishness to push the car in those conditions.

Add in the effects of lights lighting up particles of dust or smoke, sunset/sunrise and the dynamic shadows.
All this Combined is the show stopper for me.

GT5 is one of those games I just enjoy driving. Period.

For me it's definitely the overall track feel and the variety of cars you can choose from.

No doubt it's accuracy. Anything that's new in GT5 is basically a carbon copy of real life. Both the cars and the tracks.

Is that a good thing? Well it comes at a price..

It can only be the cars list, there are still too many little failure in other areas of the game to hand the accolade to any other part of it.

Photomode. the car selection is meh, the ones i truly want are standard, the physics are meh, but the Photomode..

Easy, allowing me, as an adult, to still play with toy cars! The GT games have always felt like a big box full of toy cars and a framework to play with them in. I'm transformed instantly to being a child who has been given a massive number of toy cars and a giant room to play with them in, and I can even have my friends over to enjoy them with me.

Like when I was a child, the game lets me make my own fun.

What amar212 said, though the feeling of taking one of my cars around a track and besting competitors comes first for me. It's tangibly immersive.

This.
Since I was a little boy I've always loved cars, and how each and every one of them is different, and all the little details in GT bring that feeling back up. I like seeing a particular car on my way home, starting up GT and have a go just because it's there waiting for me to try if I enjoy it.
It just tends perfectly to one's love of cars (or hate for that matter => Prius :ouch: ).

Ask Lucas Ordonez who finished 2nd in LMP2 at Le Mans on his debut.

Immersion
Car selection

Just finished the Special Rally event, Tarmac Master. With the time changes and rain, just: wow.

The feeling you get when driving with a wheel. It just feels right, and for something that sounds easy to do, very few other games seem to get it right.

Driving the McLaren F1 with Sport Hards around Nurburgring is the pinnacle of GT in my opinion. With that in mind, I'd say the physics of road legal cars plus the graphics.
