I am a bit embarrassed to ask this but I have seen so many lobbies with JDM cruise or Honda JDM only. I am guessing it is just driving through cites in tricked out cars, but i'm not entirely sure. Can someone tell me what JDM is or means???

Cars sold in the Japanese Domestic Market. Cars in GT5 the way they were sold in Japan (Japanese-specific nameplates and specifications). Whether the room hosts actually know what that means (because a lot of them seem to think it means "cars made by Japanese companies regardless of where they were sold") is another thing entirely.

To be honest, most of the guys on GT5 don't actually know what JDM means.

In car terms, what JDM stands for is Japanese Domestic Market, basically stuff exclusive to Japan, such as the Nissan Skyline GT-R.

It's often incorrectly used by people who think JDM refers to stuff that somehow look Japanese, for example:

Yo BMW so JDM man!

i know right lol, so many people do this it kind of ruins rooms

Japanese domestic market.. Pretty much stuff available in Japan. For example, USDM is United States domestic market. I don't know why a lot of kids think its cool to say JDM because it's simply describing an origin. But anyways, that's what it means :p

It's bigger in real car culture. For example, my friend has a Mirage with a JDM motor. Basically, the motor came from Japan, rather than America. However, what it should mean in GT5 terms is cars MIJ, made in Japan, like a right side drive Civic, though that could be from Britain or Australia. I don't think everyone online follows the definition to the letter, nor do I really care, I think the idea is silly.

More like a car made for the Japanese market, like a lot of cars in GT5. Although I'm not sure if it applies to foreign manufacturers that makes models specifically for the Japanese market........

That's a good question, but then again, do we consider Acura, Infiniti and Lexus to be American companies? Some do, some don't.

A Ford can be JDM if it's sold in japan under it's regulations, a Lexus can be JDM, USDM etc.
