wassup people this is a thread on what you'll think is the best car ever made for general production. i don't mean f1 cars.

i believe the best car ever made is the Nissan Skyline Gt-R V-Spec II R-34

the skyline could go toe to toe with any porsche and it looks great thats why i think its the best car ever made

shouldn't this be in the Cars in General thread.

buy yeah, don't just name a car without providing something to support your pick.

the best car ever made........for mass production.......... the Toyota Carolla. Best selling car ever (i think). Damn reliable. And you see them all over the place. even the late 80's ones are still very abundant, and in good shape.

I'm pretty sure that I have seen this same thing around here before. Seeing as how all of your other threads are getting closed, I'm sure someone will come across this and close it for you as well.

Hmm, General Production can be taken different ways. I guess the best ground, wheel based vehicle would have to be the firetruck. As for the coolest, I don't know, the Bugatti Veyron concept or the 2005 Ford GT?

Which model?? I presume you mean R34. I cant comment on the best car because there are too many great ones.

I'd say the best car ever is the Impala. I believ it is the best selling car of all time. I haven't driven one, but if it sells that much, it must've gotten something right! The Impala is my economy car of choice.

Now, I think the best sports car ever is the Corvette. 50 years and counting! Great styling, great engine (V8 Pushrod power!), great handling, and an awsome engineering car. Plus, the engine works well in the '96 Impala SS!

The best-selling car ever is the Toyota Corolla, with 28 million units shifted, but it's seen many, many model changes over the years including oscillation between FF and FR.

The best selling single car model ever is the original VW Beetle with 25 million units sold.

Do you know how many Impalas were sold?

Best car ever made? That must be the Rolls-Royce Phantom then - because Rolls-Royce stated long ago that their cars are the best. :sly:

Is this a genuine question or a reply rebucking Famine's reply?

No way Impalas are going to sell better than the Corolla. Not even after you add all the deers, elks, antelops........

Last year? 267,882.

In 1965 alone 1 million Impalas were sold - which is still a record for any single vehicle in one year. But it's still behind the top five of Beetle, Corolla, VW Golf (you lot call it the Rabbit), Model T and Lada Riva (at 15 million).

The best-selling car (not truck... Ford F150) in the US last year was the Honda Accord. Previously it had been the Toyota Camry.

I though I saw a show that said it was the best-selling car in America (before Japanese cars poisoned our streets and stole Detroit Workers' jobs). I do know that the old ones sold better than the current ones.

I'd love to get my hands on a classic impala.

My favourite car of all time is a tie between the Shelby Cobra and the old GT40. They're also some of the best as well

I'd throw in the original Ford Mustang, as it was the quickest selling car of all time and set a lot of standards in use today on most cars.

That, or the Dodge Caravan/Plymouth Voyager or their cross ocean rival, the Renault Espace.

By no means am I trying to wreck something that has been working out great for you, but an italic and bold typeface is really annoying.

Is this better?
Maybe this?
Possibly this? Ohh! that looks nice!
I thinik I will go with this...[/sarcasm]

1960 primer black Bel-air coupe. that or a 1970 GTX. Is it just me, or has everyone established already that these threads are quite pointless?

Not anywhere near that, counting the current design and the old models. Even if you throw in every Malibu sale, you wouldn't come close to the Corolla or the Beetle.

The 1 million in 1965 is a record for cars, not vehicles.

And the Volkswagen Golf in Europe is sold as the Volkswagen Golf in the United States - in fact, it's been called the Golf here since 1985. Update yourself!

Porsche 911.

Most practical sports car (and supercar in Turbo and RS guise) for the last 4 decades.

He was referring to total popularity, wasn't he? I don't believe any one single Corolla generation has sold to rival the Beetle, nor do I believe the Golf Mk1 did - in fact, I'd speculate that the last-generation Golf (MkIV) sold better than the Mk1.

Out of curiousity... Wouldn't the new Beetle be adding sales to the old beetles record... in the same way the Corolla has about 10 different generations of itself?

Might that be narrowing the margin?

Also I read somewhere that (And posted it elsewhere) that the golf has exceeded production of the classic beetle now (But it's in 6 different versions!)

But then again there are many different types of Old Beetle (The major distinction being post and pre 1968.)

Oh yeah... and on topic....

The best car ever made... Gotta be the Toyota 4X4 pickup thing... That thing is nigh on indestructible... Anyone watch Top Gear here?

C.

The Toyota Corolla would be my overall pick. We had a corolla from 1987 until last year. Damn reliable car, and it didn't need any major repairs, which is amazing considering the winters here in Wisconsin.

That'd be the Toyota Hilux wouldn't it? Or is it the Landcruiser - the Aussie bushman's choice. Either way, these cars should make it into JohnBM01's 'reliability' thread too.

We just got a 2000 Mazda Protege, 4 cylendar, oh yeah. Hey, we got a good deal on it, bought it from a new family member (You gotta love it when one of your cousins marries and you buy a car at a low price from her husband.) But, alas, I'm still driving the '93 Dodge Caravan and the '93 Dodge Intrepid....:(
