What is the difference between an AE86 and an AE92?

I've been doing some research on the Toyota Trueno and Levin cars and I've noticed similarities between the AE86 coupe and the AE92 coupe. Surely there's got to be differences between the two cars. :S

one is newer. they are the chassis number. the ae92 is FWD.

the ae86 is likely what you want. The corolla GT-s in the states. If you want a project, an sr-5 would work also. It requires some work to make it like the gts though. I believe it has drum brakes, or maybe only in rear, different motor, and other ****.

I think the 20valve 4ag that is swapped into takumis and other real life ae86s comes from the ae92.

visit club4ag.com if you havent already. I think you wil find all you want to know and more at this site. it is really great.

To tell you frankly, I'm more into FF cars. Yeah, I like the AE86 too but I just got tired of it spinning out too much since it's an FR. In other words, I'm lousy when it comes to driving FR cars... :)

Well then...You're name implies that you're into drifting. Good luck doing that in an FF car... Itll be damn hard to hold a drift like that...

Arse dragging anyone ? :D

dont fear a rwd car. you will learn how to drive it. just start by getting yourself a set of really good tires. it goes a longgggg way in improving confidence while driving. then just autocross and dont **** around while driving until you feel like it.

dont make a car buying decision based on a game.

the only problem with going ae86 rather than 92 is finding one of them. Im not sure if the 92 is much more common, but it seems the ae86 is very very rare. plus so many takumi wannabes are grabbing them up now.

Yep. AE92 is a nice car to drive althought Finnish models didn't have power steering or other but still very very good car...

Now I usually drive AE111 Corolla though :D. It's even better.

First off why do you fear RWD? I drove a RWD through Michigan winters and I got one now. I spun it once and that was my own damn fault I did it. And on dry roads I've never spun out in the Blazer and I do drive a little wreckless. So there is nothing wrong with the RWD platform and the AE86 is a lot less powerful then my truck.

hes young and hasnt driven yet so his view of driving is distorted. Not to worry little fella, haahah. RWD is okay, just dont drive like a jackass if you dont think you can handle it. You are conservative enough to think RWD might be too dangerous, so I dont think you will be drifting around like an idiot. like i said, when you feel comfortable with the car, take it to an autox or parking lot and eff around. It took me a couple weeks and a new set of tires to get comfortable with my RWD m3. now i toss it quite a bit :)

If your going to drift stay off the road. I hate these kids who think they can drift around the turn by my house. Cause if someone were to slide into my truck I would kill them.
