Someone submitted 242mph to my thread here.. probably Smuttysy

It was me. I'm currently going through some revisits on some of those early tests as I've managed to find some more speed from some of the others and the F1 is high on that list. 242 would have been with a very rudimentary gearbox tune, so a bit of fiddling with ratios and I think there should be a lot more.

Looking to hit 250+ :)

If the mclaren hits 878 give it an oil change it will hit 883,ofline I hit 248 with no problems, all aero off,its my personal tune sorry mate, edit: it won't hit 250 unless your online,I have beaten enzos!goal complete, drive.it offline a lot, increases HP and ft of torque by a lot!

Speed: 396

5 more than the speed record of that car so maybe I'll de-tune it some more.
Though I have 5 of them, two completely stock, one as a GTR replica and one regulary tuned and the last is a semi-tuned (no permanent tunes or exhaust).

Try without the changeable tranny, the stock 1 is actually faster!!

I've been trying all sort of gearing with this one and whilst I agree the stock one is best overall you can achieve the same thing with the customisable trans. The problems come when you get beyond 230mph, as it seems to hit a "speed wall". Acceleration slows to a crawl, as if the air resistance is higher than the power can overcome. I even bought a second car and didn't fit the aero kit, but this didn't help either. (Thought that there may be too much residual aerodynamic drag)
So long as you leave it in 5th (on the stockbox, or gear long with the custom) it'll run 246mph's all day, and with the stockbox none of that god-awful whining! I also found the best exhaust note was from the semi-racing exhaust, but that's probably a more individual opinion.

Personally I agree with the speed wall,I tuned the transmission so it will go all the way(248 offline),with the online physics you can go a lot faster,my mclaren has 300 miles that's all you need to break it in,mine hauls it slows down at high speeds of course but its reasonable enough to win,its the road version anyways,if it was.THE F1 you could beat buggatis

It's a shockingly low figure, given the real life "stock" version is officially recognised as having a top speed of 240mph. All that extra power we put on, and weight we take off, equates to a net gain of less than 10mph!

Finding a similar problem with the Jaguar XJ220, although to a much higher degree - Real stock will do 217mph, in game it struggles to hit 214mph with a fully tuned setup!!

I tried the stock box it's ok if you want your car with an unused gear used for loss of speed:tdown:,granturismo features a "road car"version a lot slower

396km?well than I guess I hold the granturismo mclaren f1 top speed record:)I hit 248mph you hit 246:tup:

I was aiming for 396KM/h so I had the transmission set so it would reach just that speed.
But later realized it was 391KM/h that was the real life record for that car so I shall actually make it 5KM/h slower once I decides to buy a new PS3 in a few months.

Hi, My 1994 (NCD) Mac F1 tuned is 879 Hp @970 Kg. My Mac F1 GTR race car (UCD)tuned is 778Hp @ 950Kg (may need a rebuild). It's a bit lighter than the new F1 but you can't tune it as much. The GTR has an adjustable front wing though, which improves grip. Top speed depends on the transmission setting and the length of the staight you're on; about 240mph. at Sarthe

Road going McLaren F1 has top speed of 372km/h, not 391km/h (the record breaking speed).
McLaren F1 XP5 (recordbreaking car) was a prototype #5. It was modified (all I know is that rev-limiter was taken off).
It hit 391km/h at 8300rpm.
Road going model will hit 372km/h at 7500rpm and it'll redline.

In GT5, the F1 hits 372km/h (stock model) but in 5th gear (in GT5 F1 has excessively long gears and lacks an useable 6th gear).
My guess is that about 395km/h is F1's true top speed, it's aerodynamics doesn't allow it to go any faster than that (the wall).

As for the maximum power F1 has - my fully tuned F1 has 883hp.
I have 15 McLaren F1s.
Gold, 9 stock (all colors), 2 fully tuned, LM replica and 2 F1 GTR (standard, long tail models).

Offline I can get it up to 403 km/h or 250.4 mph at de la Sarthe 09 without chicanes.

I have a stock car that is meant to be the road version and my stock hit 371 so I'll guess I have to run some more so the engine breaks in.

The one I have that hit 396KM/h was meant to be the record replica car.

^ is that in a draft? I believe to achieve the record you can be the only car running at the time the record is recorded.

Hey 599GT how are you setting up your LM replica? I've tried to do this in the past but always feel I'm missing something.

I actually find Gt5 to have pretty accurate top speeds. The McLaren F1 is def my fav car from that era! The top speed of a production Mclaren F1 is a huge controversey. Acording to the designer Gordon Murray 221 mph at 7500 rpm in 6th gear is where they put the cut off on the production cars, and 231 mph was the estimated top speed. They only tested the prototypes which had no rev limiters, and slighty different wheels/tires/gearing. No one wanted to lend their $900,000 supercar out to be driven at 240mph. I believe their were 5 prototypes, and it took 9 kms of straightaway with the wind blowing just the right way for the 5 year old (xp5 i think it was called) prototype to hit 243 mph at 8400 rpm.
Now as much as an amazing machine that is, its nothing compared to my completley stock untouched C7 corvette Stingray in gran turismo 6. 234 mph top speed, hits about 215 at la sarthe, and i drafted a bugatti at 270 mph for a win in Like the Wind..The top speed physics in GT6 sicken me. Most cars pull so hard at top end they dont stop until the run out of gears... I wish they would take the new tire model, add it to gt5, update some cars, and let us play that.
