what is wrong with 1.22 update

I guess you're lucky, the game has frozen for me on restarts since launch. Through a New Console. And Game....truly sucks. No other game does it, only GT.
If I'm doing a Spec Race, seasonal, or special and I'm trying to get a highscore or just for betterment. I can't restart more than twice usually. After that, I leave to menu, go back, and restart the process. Even then, out of every 10 restarts 1 usually freezes. So some of it is luck I suppose....
You merely adopted the freezing...I was born into it...molded by it...

sorry about that but I consider reinstall the game after backup necessary files will be the solution for you.

After putting gt6 in the machine after a long time it wanted to install update 1.22. After doing the download quick a message popped up after 50% installation and said file is corrupt. Now everything is lost, game is back to v1 and have to install 21 updates

I'm experience some problems with the new update too. The game became slow with the loadings and after doing the latest seasonal event that offers the '63 Corvette race car, the game get stuck when I was receivig the prize car. Now every time that I try to receive the car this happens. And every time I enter the seasonals sub menu the car is automatically offered, so now I can't play the seasonals because the game crashes when loading the car.

What signal strength is your wireless connection (% not bandwidth)? I used to have frequent problems with freezing and locking up when my PS3 was in a weak signal location (30-38%), I think it was having problems deciding whether it was connected/signed in and this was causing confusion and lock ups when it tries to update your achievements/completion %. I have since moved the PS3 to a better location and not had any issues

On the main PS3 home screen go across to the left where you'll find the settings, then go down until you find the network settings and there should be an option for "Settings and connection status list" and the percentage will be in there. I've found anything below 40% to be unstable and you should move the PS3 around a bit and watching if the numbers change

No problems here with freezing menus,gameplay or any other inconveniences when updating/reinstalling GT and I play daily + I've reinstall whole thing 4 or 5 times on my 2 PS3s , so I would not say it is GT problem or else everyone would experience same ****,which is not the case.
Since mission races are in the vanila install, it could be your disc or drive getting worn > happened to me . Do you have disc version?
One of the things is, that game does multistreaming > data + music from disc, so if you don't want to worn optical drive, delete music playlists from > galery-music-playlists.That disable music streaming, so only data is read and that helps when loading form worn bRay.Note that setting music to 0 in menu doesn't disable streaming only deleting playlist do it.
Also, game syncs data/player profile with PD server after events, so reason can be connection.If you can try wired connection try that, or try disabling connection in XMB, then try events (disconected) from net. If it doesn't freeze again, problem is your net/ PD server, if still persist, then something else could be wrong > full hd, fragmented hd, PS3 getting old ...
PS: If anything else fails and you got 10-12+ hours to spare, I'd recommend wiping hd and do a clean install.

Solved my problem. I went to the in game options menu and erased the instaled game data. The game became instantly more fluid and I received the car with no problems.

Install the updates one by one. About a year ago I had to do this, and it worked. It's ridiculous I know... There are several videos on youtube that teach how to do it. This is one of them:

^^ Just done that installed all the updates as i just recently played the game for the first time,the smaller ones i let it accumulate the bigger ones as the video says,had no problem with the install.
This is off this thread but as i'm just catching up to this game now, has there been any paid DLC out yet? or all the content free with the updates.

my ps3 freezes atleast once a week but ii got the digital copy (i was to lazy to drive to the store) and i installed the updates one by one on both of my consoles and by far the first slim version of the ps3 doesnt freezes but the las slim version freazes a looooooooooot

Ooook. With that video to install the updates one by one, seems that this issue mostly affected slim PS3.. I had an issue like that while ago with 1.12. it turned out that my optical media was damaged.
I just had a brand new disc for Christmas. The first 13 updates were installed within 2 hours + and I decided to go one by one for 1.14 thru 1.20. I let 1.21 and 1.22 install together, and it has been working fine since.
