GTP, 2011 has been a good year for gaming, and this fall was one of the best in recent memory. Uncharted, Forza, Saint's Row, Battlefield, Skyrim and man more were all released within the past two months. But, there have been some lackluster titles as well. So my question for you guys is: What game was your favorite, and which one did you want to return upon playing it?

For me personally:
Best- Battlefield 3 (Though Uncharted is also excellent, and I'm sure Skyrim is great as well)
Worst- Modern Warfare 3 (unplayable)

think nfs the run was a major disappointment though
 
Best is a tossup between Skyrim, Saints Row: The Third, Portal 2 and NBA 2K12. As for the worst, I don't play bad games so I can't answer that (before you suggest it, I don't consider MW3 to be anywhere near being the worst game of the year).

In terms of games I haven't played though, worst would be Brink because lolBrink.
 
To be quite honest I didn't buy one single game until the second half of the year, I just played GT5 continually.
I have only tried MW3 and I have had a quick shot of BF3. BF3 has to be the better game here in my opinion. I play MW3 most because I like it's simplicity, yet BF3 is truly the more immersive game. It's a pity it wasn't a little smoother, though.

I thought MW3 as far as the single player campaign goes, was pretty darn good actually. Multiplayer was a pile of flop.

For my worst of the year, I would have to say it's a tie between Duke Nukem Forever & Rage. Both are terrible terrible games that should not have seen the light of day.

As for my favorite, it would also be a tie, between Skyrim & Battlefield 3. I'm yet to play Saints Row the third, it's been sitting on my desk begging for game time, but I can't seem to put down Skyrim long enough to play it.

We should do some sort of poll or voting process for a GTP game of the year award.

I agree wholeheartedly with this post. I really loved MW3's campaign, but online is trash. I'm not sure how I could do a poll on this post since I'm asking for two different categories.

NHL 12 is horrible. It would be good except it is the same as NHL 11, NHL 10, 09, and 08. :( That was dissapointing.

I agree that the SP was fun, but I disagree with MP being a horse turd - I'd rather play MW3 MP than MW2 or Black Ops multi, although it is by no means perfect with lag compensation issues and whatnot. The gameplay itself is sound though.

For those reasons I find it very hard to believe that people genuinely think MW3 is the worst game of the year - you're trying to say it's worse than Homefront, Brink, Michael Jackson: The Experience or Duke Nukem Forever :odd: It may be the worst game you personally played but no matter what way you look at it it definitely isn't the worst title out of all of the games that released this year.
 
Best would be BF3 and the worst would be Duke Nukem or MW3. Homefront was a pretty fun game.

How tdu2 far surpasses gt5 and mw3 is much more interesting than battlefield. I dont understand your definition of a good game , because my definition of the game is either better or worse than yours.and im not a troll, you seem trollish for killing mw3 and tdu2.

For me:

Best - Skyrim, Portal 2
Worst - Can't really tell. I didn't pay much attention to the games for 2011 other than Skyrim :p

Depends on your FPS style. I'm not a hardcore FPS player (I'm more of a hardcore RPG player :lol:), though so I can't tell you much there.

If it were then it would definitely be game of the year for me.
I want CoD4 back. I want the same guns, same maps, same perks, just a few tweaks. It needs assist points, multi attachment option, and hardcore S&D with reverse friendly fire.
If this was presented to me then I would class it the best FPS ever, with no doubt.

I'm not so much bothered by your "best" choices, but calling Battlefield 3 the worst game of the year is insanity. And uncharted 3 is an amazing game. Fun, deep, and good multiplayer.

Obviously not, you have to get a taste of all the parts of the game (all the kits, try out the vehicles etc.). Honestly though, if you are new to Battlefield, Bad Company 2 would be a better starting point. It's an easier transition from COD in my opinion.

But... it's got Stopping Power, and Martyrdom :nervous:. I've got it on the Wii (haters gotta hate) and almost every person on there has Martyrdom or Last Stand on there.

I went to my friends house, and his siblings have a Wii. For some reason they had COD4 even though they're little kids and never play it. So I tried it out, and it was harder than playing Kinect for the first time. And on COD4, yeah it had problems, but it was simple and I found it easy to look past the issues it had and enjoy it. Best in the franchise. I enjoyed it so much that after spending so much time playing it on my PS3, when I got my Xbox, one of my first purchases was getting a copy of it for $10 off a friend. Worth it :D
 
I agree about cod 4, it was the best, I went back to prestige on it for the point, and I had nothing but k/d's of 4 and 5 on free for all, I was on a 28 win streek on free for all when mw3 came out, and now I've got a k/d of 2.25 on mw3 and you can't play free for all because people spawn on top of you, because the maps are too small and there's nowhere else for them to go. It's better than blops was but not as good as mw or mw2!

Honestly we played 1v1 on shipment all the time and he kept on beating me. I used to call him a noob for using juggernaut.

Anyway back on topic MW3 is a great game, and I doubt that anyone really dislikes it like they claim they do. I do agree that it is a disappointment in some areas but SP and Spec Ops alone make it worthy of attention IMO.
Any further comments of such then I suspect the user to be in support of implicit fanboyism. :lol:

Best: Dark Souls, MW3, Uncharted 3 in that order

Worst: Shift 2

Why is it so wrong in some peoples mind to like MW3? I have fun playing multiplayer, and that is the main reason I play games.

Dark Souls is such a thrilling game, when I beat a Demon I get the most satisfying feeling. The only game that comes close to the racing pulse and joy of it is nailing a good lap in a WRS event. It's like a type of high.

Shift 2 was just so disappointing to me. It felt wrong with a wheel, and I just couldn't get over that. The tracklist is amazing though.

Edit: and a Halo remake is on the list but NOT Dark Souls? Bad OP, just bad.

What games did I even buy this year?

Marvel 3, GT5, Dirt3, NFS TR.... none of which are on the poll...

Best one is going to be DiRT3, the worst is either Marvel 3 or TR... TR would definitely be my best game of 2011 if it wasn't for all the stupid bugs, crashes and slow loading times.
