For PS3 GT5!
Thank you mate!

Ok then.

Firstly the Thrustmaster is THE wheel for this game second to none highly recommended by users. I don't own one myself BTW.

Currently GT5 is the only game this wheel works with on PS. Not sure if you have a big library of racing games on PS or if it bothers you.

Upcoming Dirt3 in may is confirmed to be compatible as well.
All future titles Should be supported but as yet shift 2 is not listed as compatible, which comes out soon.

G27 ( which I have ) is a good wheel. Not as sophisticated in force feedback as the TS500 but compatible with almost all games. Good peddle set with these but again I think the TS pedals are better from what I've read.

I like the G27 shifter personally but the TS is not as yet available. No doubt the TS will be better.

Can't really go wrong with both wheels IMHO.

The TS even though I don't own one, is superior. But you will have to wait for a shifter and only GT5 currently works.

If at a later date you were to go the PC route then definitely the TS for me.

Hope I've given a sound and unbiased opinion.

Do get back with your final choice mate.

WOW! G27 looks like a little toy, however I will wait and see what Logitech will come up with, will there be a new wheel soon? I know it took three years until they released G27 to replace the G25. And I don´t know if thrustmaster will release the T500 with leather wich would be awesome becuse rubber is rubbish!

Okay I think this might be a DUMB question but I must ask it.

Can you buy a leather wheel cover to put over the T-500's rubber wheel or would it's addition cause inaccuracies with the wheels sensors and driver software since it would increase the wheels diameter over it's original factory size ?

It certainly does look like a toy in that photo. Except you'll notice the G27 is lying backward, and the perspective is distorted.

Think I'm nitpicking? Here's an image with the actual proportional wheel sizes (as stated by manufacturer, 270mm vs 300mm) shown in yellow.

A poor photo to post, at best.

Now that looks a little better. T500 diameter is still quite large, I wonder how comfortable that is to actually drive...

not to defend the size of the 27 wheel but many race cars have wheels that small, however considering GT5's street cars etc, the extra size is a better match...IRC you can change the 27 wheel...its a bolt on IRC

If Logitech and PD would get off their High Horses and work together to solve the supposed "bug" PD found when supporting the G27 it would be the best wheel for the price. But instead of PD actually being willing to compromise with Logitech nothing is going to happen unfortunately.

G27 should not be mentioned in the same sentence as T500.

Logitech are more of a joke lately and the best view i can give you on the different feel is this:

T500RS: Bugatti Veyron
G27: Civic 1.3L Vtec

They are both cars with four wheels but the similarities ends right there.

Troll.

If you serious with H-SHIFTER, go to G27, if you want got full device support, must go to T500 RS. I using G27 with MOMO wheel & Perfect pedal MOD, very nice, but when driving with F1, FGT & X-1, it's painful because GT5 not support G27 lock to lock turning angle adjustment . With the two mods , G27 total price almost the same as T500-RS,but have a H-shifter that T500 haven't at this time.
The pros of T500-rs is, have 2 foot pedal mount types, adjustable brake pedal force, adjustable wheel turning angle, better & stronger FFB motor, new-tech sensor, replaceable wheel & full game option support.
If I haven't own a G27 ,and T500rs have H shifter now,
I must go to T500 RS.

 you just compared an overpriced speedboat to a 1980's civic? (atleast not in the past 10 years has there been a 1.3l vtec civic)

Maybe my old fake ps1 wheel with no FFB compared to the T500RS is more in that range of what you said, but the G27 and T500RS aren't completely on opposite ends of wheels on the market today.

P.S. I'd take the 1.3L vtec :sly: i can troll too

I've owned both, liked both, but went with the T500 upgrade and I am happy I did. The G27 is a good wheel but it is much noisier than the T500 and not nearly as smooth. I'm a paddle shifter so I don't miss the H-shifter. Also, and this is very critical to me, the G27's paddle shifters rotate with the wheel which can be confusing when shifting thru corners. The T500's paddle shifters are stationary and independent of the wheel, so no such issue - left is always down and right is always up.

If you need to use reverse, then you're doing it wrong. ;)

And reverse is available on the G27 using the H-shifter.

In GT5(not prologue), the control had changed,
activate the clutch no need to push triangle button.
just step on the clutch is alright,
then push the paddle shifter will disable the clutch .
So ,if in paddle mode, push the triangle to reverse ,
shift to R gear to reverse in clutch mode.
