Which track do you take a new car onto to test it out?

Since GT4 I've always used Nürburgring Nordschleife, and actually thought it would be most people's favourite but I've recently asked a couple of friends and was surprised to learn that they prefer to test cars out on Suzuka.

So where do you take a new car?

the ring usually.

Also I find myself doing that vw polo cup race on the ring every time I play as a "warm up".

Trial Mountain - because I've raced there so much.

Might use cape ring too now as I love some of the corners in that track.

I wouldn't use the ring to test cars... you can thank that track for the under steer that 99.9% of production cars come with stock. The ring heavily favors a tight car for safety and speed through the high speed sweepers.

Suzuka is my go to test for a well rounded tuning setup. I some times use fuji for cars that need an on throttle type of setup.

It might be expected, but i use the TGTT for general testing. (Smooth road)
Rough Road: I use Nordschleife
Dirt: I like to use Eiger K Trail
Snow: I like to use my generated course on Alaska (I'm a sucker for my state  )
Ice: I use Chamonix Full
Top Speed: SSR7

So essentially: I use a lot of tracks for testing

Deep Forest ftw, since GT4

It has some corners that real look like ring, plus some high-speed sections, all those in a compact way.

I use Tsukuba and High Speed Ring, as well as Eiger Nordwand. I probably use the latter the most now that i think about it.

For suspension tuning, I like the ring.

For peak performance tuning, I use Indianapolis or Daytona Speedway. 👍

I actually created a 6.5 mile track called "Proving Grounds" based of the Eiffel Theme in the course creator. It has over 500 ft of elevation changes and a high speed section leading into the straight. I wouldn't say it's ideal for measuring performance but more for getting a feel for the car and seeing what it's capable of.

Otherwise, I think the Nurburgring is great.

I use:

A specially generated karting course (Eifel Kart) for general testing/tuning.

A specially generated 'oval' (Eifel) for high speed tuning, as well as Le Sarthe.

Toscana, Liege, Chamonix and a Mt.Aso circuit for rally testing.

Nürburgring GP.

Nordschleife is my overall favourite track, but it's so long and complex that there are far too many risks of making minor or major mistakes, making it hard to compare car performance and handling based on just a few laps.

This is pretty much what I was told when I posed this question to said friends.
It's just that I became obsessed with Nordschleife on GT4 when I realised how much I would need to practice to land the gold on S16, as well as beat the final driving challenge. Since then I just instinctively go there when tuning and/or testing a new car.

NB - this counts for all cars except for LMPs and Class C racing cars, because for some reason I just can't get the car(s) driving stable. I use Le Mans for those.

I use the Top Gear track just because after all of this time it's so fun to finally use the track to compare times! Then I'll take it to Fuji Speedway because it has everything, tight turns, long sweeping turn, down hill, up hill, & massive straight to test top speed.

Special generated Mt. Aso track, kind of like an oval at first, then cuts into the middle with some difficult esses, and after firing out of the last corner, a hill keeps you from blasting down the up-and-down straight. My fastest car currently is a Diablo GT-1.

I have a Generated Toscana track for fun but I mainly use the top gear test track and Monza
