To show the statistics and other stuff how well you performed in the race, I remember that thing was in GT3. I only used it once for a trophy though.

Taken from the GT website:

This feature allows you to analyse your saved replay data to show Speed, Engine RPM, Throttle Input, Gear Position, Steering Angle, etc. in a graphical format.

I think it only shows it after you complete a lap in Time Trial. (In GT5 at least)

Start time trial, go to the desired spot, do the drag, reach the finish line of the circuit, analyze. That should do it, theoretically I guess.
