What laptop should i buy?

hey I have saved up cash to purchase a new laptop i want to spend about $1200 i want one for internet surfing and one that is capable of playing games like skyrim and diablo 3. Not to sure what i should get any suggestions?

You would really be better off buying a desktop if you're planning on playing games, plus you get more computer for the money you want to spend.

For mobility/portability, yes a laptop.

I suggest you look into Asus. They have best for the bang laptops. Great specs with i7's at around $1,000.

Otherwise, build your own for a little less money, but it'll be more powerful.

Here's your Huckleberry. You might be able to still find some new G74s with slightly better specs before they all go out of stock.

Alienware anything are extremely overpriced and Sony doesn't have a stellar reputation with laptops especially ones for gaming.


Lenovo has some great deals for about $750-800 if your okay with a 720p screen. I think for $800 you can get a 560m which is okay.

I agree with the others though that a $1200 desktop far out performs a? 1200 laptop.

With Alienware computers you pay more for the name and shiny doodads than you do for the actual substance (though it is there). And high end Sony computers are a joke, making you pay Apple prices for what are supposedly the premium PC equivalents to Apple in reality there is almost nothing different between a top-end Sony and a top-end HP except the price.

Check Asus "G" Series (or "N" Series). Bought the N61JQ couple of years back for school and gaming ( i7-720QM with 5730). Most of the notebooks with comparable specs (with at least an i7 processor, were at $1200 and up. I got it for $899.
