What make is the Formula 1 car in GT4?

I've only watched 2 F1 races this season on CBS, so I'm not very familiar with the constructors and their chassis.

It's not like a section for Honda, where you can buy cars and tune them up. You can't buy or upgrade the F1 in the game. And If you are going to ask how to get it, you win it in the Nurburgring 24 hour endurance.

BTW, you can, in fact, tune the heck out of it. You can adjust suspension, transmission, LSD, downforce, driving aids, and brake balance. You just can't "upgrade" the tires or power.

Not that you need to, though. The Formula GT series is quite winnable in A-Spec with just a bit of effort. In B-Spec its a pushover.

(I recommend reducing that -6 rear toe to -2 or -1 to greatly improve rear tire life.)

Why are u comparing a "formula grand prix car" and a champ car? Champ cars are a by product of the IRL split up and they all run ford engines b/c the managment sucks and they lost toyota,honda and ther deal with Ferrari and Lambo. But as u said it is EXTREMELY simular to a F1 car looks,weight, and power wise. The only differnce i've seen is that it runs slicks * i think* But i like others would like to see a full F1 grid i could tear up the streets with a renualt hehee.

I'm glad to find out it's indestructible. Since it's a non-manufacturer car you can't put rigidity refresher on it. I got scared that if I pronged it, it would start to mishandle. I also thought that fresh oil might give me more HP like in GT3, but it won't take oil or anything else. I don't need extra HP to win the Formula races because it easy enough to win as it is, but I thought I could break some speed records with a more powerful car. It's too bad GT4 doesn't have different make Formula cars. Each had their own characteristics and that was a lot of fun racing the various types. I guess I'll just have to race Nurb 24 again and settle for another Formula car in a different color.

majarvis is right. i don't know what you were trying to get across in that post. whether you were making a counter-statement is hard to determine.

the car is not a champ car, nor is it an indy car. it resembles the jag f1's and the grid of 04. i mean, the car IS called FORMULA gran turismo '04.

I think the original question was asking that although the F1 car in GT4 is obviously generic, which constructors car is it modeled after. With that said, I think the PD car looks most like the Toyota TF104 out of all the 2004 grid.

no, it looks more like the jaguar than the toyota. look at the struts on the front wing that connect to the nose.

the only problem is that the jaguar is a lot more boxy than the actual car. i think it's really just a generic that the people at PD made up. what else would it be?

The F1 car is from Polyphony Digital themselves. It is also weird that you can run it in races, yet there are no parts for it and you cannot change the oil. However with this car you don't need parts since it is perfect the way it is. However it could be just a tad bit faster, but that's why I change the gears.
Oh yeah, speaking of CBS, what other 2 F1 races are they running?

So did they make it that way because they got in trouble for making those ostensibly generic but identifiable F1 cars in GT3? Or they just decided to make GT4 a little less F1 focused?

This explains the differences between Champ/Indy/F1 pretty well for those who don't know (like I just didn't). I still probably couldn't tell which is which from just looking at one though.

Look i like this game but sony kinda sucks with licences so they cant use porsche or lambo ect.... pluse you have to think its a japaness game so of course there are going to be alot of just Japanese things in it wich dose suck because i realy dont think that the Japanese put out quality like the germans or the italians do or even the brits for that matter but thas just my opinion but if sony would by all the licences i think that game would be alot better calling it the most realistic racing sim is a laugh in its self i played Xbox's answere to this game and it pritty good i think when the the 2nd one come's out it will be better as for sony and GT put on crashing and buy some dam licences.

I take your point about rear toe in, but on some races it's the front tyres that wear first so on those it makes sense to get the full turning benefits of -6 toe on the rear tyres.

Hence why PD named it the, Formula Granturismo 04' They "PD" never calls it a F1 at any point in the game. Only in online conversations is it reffered to as a F1.
