I got inspired by the Winamp skin thread and came up with this.

So, what music player do you use in your computer? Comments are of course welcome as long as this isn't a debate for the "best" player as there obviously isn't one. It's up to user preferences. :) My personal choice is the iTunes, it just suits me the best.

You can choose more than one option as many people use more than one player.

BTW, if you choose the "Something else, what?" please tell what it is.

QCD

Open up Task Manager, watch the CPU and Memory Usage of Windows Media Player and play your favourite mp3. You might be surprised.

Do the same with QCD and you'll almost certainly be surprised.

I use WMP. Yes I know it is resource hungry. My system (P4 ~3.00GHz, 512mb RAM) goes up to ~90% when ripping a CD @ 192kbps .

well depends on my mood :D

I use I-Tunes for my main player, but if i have file formats that is dosn't like i use winamp, i hate Media player so it never gets used, for video's i use BS player or Power DVD

I use iTunes, also. I really like the easy access to their music store.

I use Windows Media Player. Considering a switch to something else though.

I use Windows Media. Hate iTunes with a passion. Every time my brother uses it on his account it switches it back to iTunes as the default music player for my account! And it sounds worse.

How does Windows Media compare to Winamp in terms of sound?

I use WMP10 for everything. I tried Winamp once for a few weeks and didn´t like it much. I also tried iTunes after I got an iPod, but I didn´t like it either so I just use it to transfer mp3 to the iPod.

And although WMP is my favorite, I don´t know why but now everytime it´s running for some time, be it playing songs or video, it starts to use a lot of memory. So when I try to shut it down a message appears, saying it´s converting files and if I shut it down it won´t complete and bla bla bla...

I tried to disable this, but I can´t find where to do it. Anyone knows?

iTunes for music, of course (you’d have to be mad to use anything else on OS X). Quicktime for movies, though many people prefer VLC – I don’t download many movies though (dialup), so I’ve never run into a movie that QT couldn’t handle just fine.

Winamp for music, because it was the first player i learned how to make playlists on. Not that i can't make playlists on other programs, but this is just what i got used to.

I use iTunes/Winamp in about a 65/35% Ratio.

I use iTunes most since I just hit shuffle and it only plays the songs I have checkmarked so I never hear any stuff I don't like. I use Winamp for listening to albums. Never tried foobar, what's so good about it?

WinAmp for everything...why? Because it really whips the llamas ass . Wow that was bad. But really I use it because its what I've always used and I never liked Windows Media Player.

Winamp for music.

And Windows Media Player classic (K-lite Codec pack) for vidoe, never came across a video it couldnt play, including quicktime.

I use WMP10 for both music and video, it was already of the pc so meh might aswell use it.

I use iTunes, although only as a server for my Soundbridge, so the RAM/CPU usage is low. I'm looking at doing the SlimServer/AlienBBC installation, as SlimServer uses less system resource, and AlienBBC allows the Soundbridge to stream RealAudio radio, which is used by all of the stations I want to listen to.

I use windows media most the time, For videos i tend to use qucktime as its easier to open a new player thn to stop music on media player, open a video, thn open music again afterwards, if you catch my drift :sly:
