Me? Windows 98 2nd Edition. No big problems. I see no need to change until I get a new computer, which I also see no need to replace just yet.

I use Windows XP Professional, and I am extremely happy with it. :)

It's more stable than any Windows 9x. At least, it is for me. And I really like the design!

Yes, XP is an excellent OS. The advantages are too numerous to list here, but I found this page which does an excellent job outlining some of the major points.

All that link does is say whats better about XP to NT, it doesnt say anything about win 98. I use win 98 and im happy with it. I think im just staying with 98. XP also requires a damn lot of ram, for what? You need 128mb at least to run xp, and even if you have it, all your other programs run slow. Trust me, my mom has a 1.5ghz 128mb ram computer with XP, and that sucker runs way slower than mine (1ghz, 128mb). Unless you can afford 50$ on the size for more ram while your buying XP, i dont reccommend getting it. Windows 98 will serve you well if you treat it well.

Remember, 95% of all problems are caused by the user, not the OS/Computer.

Yes, such as using it for more than an hour a day and not sending Bill Gates sacrificial virgins. Stupid users!

Windows XP Professional.

It hardly ever crashes and when it does, an application is always at fault, not the OS.

OK, take a look at this page for specific comparisons between XP and 98SE. As for your mom's PC, don't expect an OS with all of XP's effects and features to run better on a faster processor if you are still starving it of enough RAM. Don't believe Microsoft's minimum requirements, especially when dealing with one of the most critical components (like RAM), if you want a perfect system.

if you're not maxed out on RAM, have little or nothing running in the background then it's not going to matter what OS or CPU you run, it's gonna be sssssssslllllllllllllllllooooooooowwwwwwww

I'm on Mac Os 9.2.2 and its a pain in the arse. I plan on buying a new computer soon though. If I had the cash I'd be running a new Mac but I seem to not have 3 grand to splurg on a new one.

So with Windows and I wanted to reformat my PC because you did something really stupid. When you install all your software again and drivers do you ahev to get profuct activation for all of them? - Cause every 5 minutes you would be calling the activation line!

Oh yeh I'm a Windows 98SE fresh install of everything and have only experienced 2 Blue Screens in 2 weeks comapred to 5 a day so I am very pleased!

LoL..... funny thing is that i just installed XP Pro on a old OLD PII 400 mhz with 128 of ram and a 4 gig hardrive. And to tell you the truth it runs just as smooth as my 700 AMD with 384meg of ram & 20 gig HD.

But compaired to my 1900xp comp... you cant compair that. On that one you see the differance. :p
