What should I get SCC or NFS shift

Hi hinkler. It depends a lot on what you want, considering they are very different games.

Shift has in its favour at least this:

- Sound
- Graphics
- Good car list including Porsche and Lambo
- GREAT track list, including the Nordschleife

But the physics are a mix of sim and arcade that doesn't seem to please neither kind of players

the online, although it works well, is designed towards random matching and 90% of people you meet online seems to be more interested in destruction derbies than in racing

SCC is (a lot) less flashy then Shift. Its strengh comes from

- consistent physics
- great feedback if you use a wheel
- excellent online system (private lobbies where you can set almost everything)
- good car selection
- good track selection

Both games feature bad AI. In Shift they are punters. In SCC and apart from a few cars the AIs are very competent to drive (and humans find very difficult) like the Mercedes SLR or the Bugatti Veyron ... they are generally incompetent.

Overall, my choice is SCC.

There's plenty of fuel in previous posts to burn through that should give you all the info you're looking for in detail. But in brief, both games have their pros and cons.

Shift has :
- far better graphics
- a better sense of speed and immersion
- a greater variety of cars
- The Nurburgring
but it's let down by:
- arcade like at-the-limit physics
- an online experience akin to a destruction derby
- some serious bugs which EA has gone a long way to fix

SCC has:

- The best FFB in PS3 land
- Great physics - maybe a notch below GT5TT in some areas but not by much
- great selection of tracks
- wonderful on-line options
but it's let down by:
- visuals a generation behind
- a tight (but tiny) on-line community
- dismal off-line AI

EDIT: FWIW, I have both (bought Shift on opening day) but I rarely play it anymore. SCC is my game of choice

I think it's pretty simple. If you ever enjoy watching motorsport on TV, and enjoy the idea of getting closer to the reality of that kind of sport, then get the sim (SCC). If you just want to have fun, and don't mind falling into fantasy, dramatisation land, then Shift may be for you.

Overall I have to recommend SCC, by far, over Shift. SCC has better car handling (especially for wheel users it seems). SCC allows private lobbies, which is very important.

JJ mentioned SCC having a tight, but tiny online community. Well for me that's another reason to get SCC - You're guaranteed good, clean racing if you want to race with us, even though a few more numbers online would help. Plus, we've got competitions running on this forum which are very enjoyable.

SCC has updates too. There have been two so far, with one more coming soon. While I feel they've made a bit of a mess of the development, it's still the best choice on the PS3.

If SCC got a push in the market and proper distribution, I think you would find maybe half of the sim users saying GT is better, and half saying SCC is better.

Honestly Shift even though it has the Nurburgring its simply not worth it. Get SCC.

Somehow I've been hosting this race for like last three weeks and it's great.

But still i would recommend SCC, i have Shift (did platinum trophies), Ferrari (did platinum trophies), SCC (did platinum trophies) and Superstars V8 (platinum pending), and the best of them all is SCC.
