I will buy a new LCD-TV and i am interested in, which brand the most user of GT5P use/prefer?

That will help me for buying my new LCD-TV.

Thanks joe8

I have a 40" LCD Sony Bravia 1080p model KDL-40V2500 and love it.

I use a Sony Bravia 55 inch full 1080p, Rear Projection TV KDS-55A2020
Picture looks great.. jaggies appear for only the medium-to far away cars.
And there does not seem to be any frames a second drop. Everything is smooth.

I use a Toshiba Regza 32" HDTV as my monitor and a quick change to the HDMI channel when I want to play GT5P :) ... It does the job very well and have no plans to update it for the time being.

Although you are saying "for GT5:P", this is more of a general electronics question, so I'm moving it to the proper forum.

VIZIO VX32L to be replaced with it's 47" 1080P big brother when the basement is redone over the next few months.

i use a Sharp AQUOS 32" 1080p.

My current "cockpit" is a computer desk. I have the wheel mounted on the desk with the 32" tv situated a few inches behind the wheel. From where i am sitting the aspect ratio is PERFECT!

I can look at the wheel on the TV (interior view) and at the DFP and they take up the same amount of space in my field of view. Although if i upgraded to a G25, the image might appear a bit smaller.

Regardless 32" 1080p is the best compromise as far as TV and monitor. The pixels are only 25% larger than a dell 19" lcd.

Only downside is the price.. i got mine for $1000+ from best buy.

I don't have a PS3 to play GT5:P, but I can tell you what I would use to do it. Sony's Bravia line, without question, is the tops when it comes to HDTVs. After that would be Panasonic, but yes, Sony is still the top-pick.

...I'll be in the market for a 1080p TV soon (right now my native is 720p on my 27" and 19" sets), but I won't be getting a new one for a long while...

I have Sony 40W3000 (European version), bought two weeks before GT5:P PAL launch, perfect for PS3 (zero overscan for 720p games)

Sharp Aquos 52" 1080P LCD flat panel, running through a Denon 7.1 True HD suround sound system. 👍

Absolutely no complaints. The black levels are much better than my Olevia 40" 720P LCD (bought for XBox 360). The colors are bright, vivid, and the contrast is of the best I have seen, outside of much more expensive models with up to 25000:1 contrast ratios.

I would highly recommend the Sharp Aquos line.

;)

Sony KDL-46V2500 (1080P). I found myself becoming a Sony fanboy. PS2, PSP and PS3. Only thing I am missing is Sony home theater system, but I have a good old Kenwood 5.1 already, better than those plastic speakers IMO.

I have heard in TV-forums that a SAMSUNG is not the best for PS3 and the BluRay-Player.

What can SAMSUNG-owner say, is GT5P and other PS3 games so worse on the SAMSUNG?

My favourites to buy are:

SONY KDL-40V3000 or
SAMSUNG LE-40M87BD

has anyone of you one of these TVs???

Ciao joe8

A black Samsung 52 inch 1080p. I dont remember the model number but no complaints except theres alot of white jaggy lines on the cars sometimes...anyone know how to fix that problem?

No changes since the last time this was asked:

  • 2006 Panasonic AE1000
  • 98" 1920x1080p FP LCD
  • PS3 Output 1080p -> HDMI
  • 1.4 D:W (10' from Screen)

  • 2006 Samsung HL-R4667W
  • 46" 1280x720p RP DLP
  • PS3 Output 720p -> HDMI
  • 3.6 D:W (12' from screen)

  • 2007 Vizio VU42LF
  • 42" 1920x1080p DV LCD
  • PS3 Output 1080p -> HDMI
  • 3.6 D:W (11' from Screen)

  • 2006 ViewSonic VX2025wm
  • 20" 1680x1054p DV LCD
  • PS3 Output -> HDMI -> DVI
  • 1.4 D:W (2' from Screen)

  • 2002 JVC AV-20320
  • 20" 640x480i DV CRT
  • PS3 Output 480i -> Composite
  • 2.3 D:W (3' from screen)

  • 1997 Panasonic CT-20G22V
  • 20" 640x480i DV CRT
  • PS3 Output 480i -> Composite
  • 2.3 D:W (3' from screen)

  • 2000 JVC C-13110
  • 13" 640x480i DV CRT
  • PS3 Output 480i -> Composite
  • 3.5 D:W (3' from screen)

Among these, the 1080p Panny LCD projector easily looks the best, hands down... although it took quite some effort to properly calibrate it with custom density lens filters and it is in a dedicated theater with full light control. For many this isn't a reasonable solution.

2nd best is the 720p Samsung RP-HDTV and it's in a room with lots of natural light. Despite that, black levels and color accuracy are top-notch. 👍

3rd best is the 1080p Vivio LCD DV-HDTV, although I rarely use the PS3 on this display for anything but movies.

Among the many dislays I have tested that I do not own, the best to date was the latest DLP RP-HDTV from Samsung that uses their latest LED light engine (no more lamps!) .... it's amazing! 👍

I own the KDL-40V3000 it is superb, highly recommended:tup:

Great to hear, that the SONY KDL-40V3000 is superb for GT5/P.

It would be great to see pics from GT5P on the HDTV.

Thanks!

Ciao joe8

Sony:

KDL32D3000

and

KDL40X3500

and

Samsung SyncMaster 245B 24"

EDIT: the Samsung is not really ideal for GT5p. The cars and tracks look disproportioned. It's a 1920x1200 and the image is upscaled and stretched. Bah!
