What version is gt5 platinum

I did a search and the closest I could get to the answer was a discussion about it before its release.

Does anybody know whether there are any pre-installed updates/ patches on the disc? I have up til now played the game offline and in the next month will be getting some internet and be going online.

I don't want to be bombarded by a massive amount of downloads however.
 
Im pretty sure it has no pre-installed patches/updates, it has around 23 updates which altogether is around 8GB for you to download and install.
 
Are you asking about another version of the disc to buy that already has updates? The XL edition and Academy edition both are on spec 2.0 (or higher, don't recall exactly) and come with vouchers for DLC which I believe are still active. Saves a bunch on download time and you get some free cars to boot. 👍
 
I think that may be the better choice to go with, I actually saw a gt5 academy version for sale at my local game store. I think it would be cheaper buying that than the airtime required for a data bundle.

I've never been online with my ps3 but forgive me if my questions sound silly, but when a person does the updates, will the game automatically detect the latest version or will it provide me with a list of available updates and let me decide what I want to update to?

The game will update everything to the latest software. It will say "Downloading updates 1/23, 2/23 , 3/23 etc.

This process takes an extremely long time.
 
Bollocks. That doesn't suit me at all and after all the fuss I read online about using a phone as a modem this doesn't seem feasable at all.

I would have much prefered to have been able to choose which update I wanted to install. Can I not cancel an install? As it starts? And would 3g coverage be enough for the updates? I have no intention of playing online, but I would like to update my game over a few segments as well as take advantage of the free birthday car and some of the other free dlcs

You can stop the download at any update you wan't. If there is a specific item or change you are looking for find out what update it came in and cancel when it finishes.

Btw unless you have unlimited data on your phone it is probably not a good idea to download something this big.

You know what, I did the calculations, and the amount of money I would need to use in order to buy data bundles just to get to the spec 2.0 update is already more than what I could buy the gt academy version for. (Edit: actually just went out and purchased it)

Still gonna need to connect to take advantage of the dlcs though.now to search what exactly the latest update is as well as what each update has offered the game to figure out how much data I need.

I can't wait til my internet is up and running next month
 
Just to confirm for those interested, academy edition has up to v2.07 installed. The dlc are all still valid.

Can anybody confirm for me how much data all the dlc packs will take? And whether using my phone (has 3g) will be enough to download the content. Would be a shame to wait a whole month til I have proper internet
 
Ok I don't know whether the stuff I seach for is "illegal" or if I just don't how to use a search engine because I can never find a simple yes/no answer.

Anyway, I have a pretty good internet connection at work, obviously I can't take my ps3 into work and hook it up to the network. Can I download the dlc stuff I got from the academy edition on a normal laptop, put the info on a usb disc and then put it on my ps3 at home? Is this possible or is there something I need to do?

I have read on the forums that updates to the game can't be done via usb, but I figure cars and tracks are like music files that can be played on a usb disc in the game
 
Sorry but you can't download them via USB ... the DLC content are just little keys of 100Kb at most, your 3G will be able to download it, you shouldn't worry. (Just skip the corvettes since you won't be able to use them.)
 
I'm going to a friends house today and he said he will let me download the dlc stuff at his house. So I am quite excited for today. Is there any reason why I can't use the corvettes?

Maybe if I'm lucky my friend will let me do the remaining updates as well

After a system software update, hassles with connecting to the psn after creating an ID and then having to update my gt5 game to v2.13 I am now fully up to date with the game and finally got to download my dlcs which I absolutely love, except for the x2011

I even got a chance to complete one online seasonal event. To my luck, there was a formula gt in my online dealership -the deep red one and I only had 1500000 cr. Guess I will just wait for it to appear in my ucd (about 400 odd days now) or maybe when I go online again there will be another fgt.

formula gt will always be at the online dealership.

I'm kinda cheesed now becuase after I installed the cars from the dlc they appeared in the car exchange. I left them their and then left my phone. When I wanted to cash them in it said that I needed to install them again and because I did not have an internet connection at home I could not do so. I just want to make sure, but when I get connected to the net again, install the cars again, then go to the car exchange and use them, will I need to be connected to the net every time I want to use the cars? cos that would suck:yuck:👍

I recently figured out how to use my phone to run as a wifi modem. The funny thing is I have 2 of the exact same phone on the exact same network. The only difference is that the one is prepaid, the other on contract. Yet when I run them each, both will have a wifi connection to the ps3 but the contract phone will not give me internet access on the ps3 which is annoying becuase it has all the data loaded on it, but meh, I will figure it out in time
