Monday morning when a Tornado from Wilma hit us.

Lamboracer
I was hiking with my school and we were on Mt. Washington. At one of the steepest parts on the side of the Mt. we were hit with a strom that ripped through the mountain side. There were litteraly branches flying arounds and the trail turned into a slippers 85 degree angle slide. We had to sit on out bags in case lighting struck the mountain so we didnt die. I like crapped my pants.

Mt. Washington, very cool. I used to camp in the area when I was a little kid. I remember the story of a lady who went out for a walk at 6 in the evening in 70 degree weather from the observatory. Bad weather hits that place massively quick (I believe the highest recorded wind speed occured there). They found her body the next morning only 200 meters away. She died of hypothermia.

My experiences-

I had my license for about six months. The only experience in snowy weather was a year before in my dad's acura. His car had traction control ABS and, I believe, stability control. It's the first day that snow has actually accumulated on the ground. I go through the first few corners fine. I reach a the end of the small street I'm on and it T's off onto the road that my school was on (very busy as it was right before classes started). I go to stop normally only to realize nothing was happening. I got lucky and slid through when there was a break in traffic. I managed to get the car turned and avoided the ditch I was going head long for with creativ use of the e brake, throttle and brakes. The kid I was riding with sat in silence for a looongg period after that.

When I was around 10 I was rollerblading next to a truck pulling a trailer. I knew the driver and was holding on to the side of the trailer. The speed limit jumped from 15 to 30 and at the same time there was a crack in the road. I hit the ground and opened my eyes to see the rear tire coming quick. I rolled just out of the way. I was kind of shaken up for a little while after that.

My advice is: If you wish to avoid near-death experiences, don't take up sailing.

 Or driving.

Heck, GT4Fan, if you're 15, make sure the first car you drive is a crappy one with a good airbag. Best time to get a new car is after your THIRD accident.

I know, some of us are just accident prone. Funny thing is, before I wrecked the car on my bachelor's, I hadn't had a single accident OR traffic ticket for almost two years. Stupid me. Remember, this **** can happen to just about anyone.

A few months ago, Jimmy and I were going to go down to the shops, it was raining, he had crappy tyres, and the road was really wet and greasy. Anyway he went around this corner and the back of the car started to slide – I start laughing a little (assuming he was just being an idiot) then he countersteered and the tyres gripped up and we shot across the road, over a traffic island, in between two large trees and we stopped about a foot away from a parked car … That was probably my biggest OMFG I’m gona die moment!

Was cruising around on my mates Yamaha FX140 jetski last weekend. Motor is a retuned R1 motorbike engine, 1000cc 20 valve 4 stroke making 140hp at 10,000rpm.

We were cruising along at about 50km/h (digital speedo) doing 6800rpm in calm seas that were slightly choppy due to the little wind.

... and then he guns it... all I can remember was seeing the tacho reading go up around the 11,000rpm range, hear the engine scream its nuts off and next thing we're barrelling along chasing two other jetskiers.

We were gaining on them, skimming the top of the slightly choppy seas, my arse getting pounded to buggery holding onto my mate with my entire strength. The wind was ramming me in the face as was the spray. My eyes were watering when he backed off and slowed down into a turn.

He said we had been doing 95km/h and vowed never to do it again. An hour later I was driving and we came across some flat seas and managed to hit 86km/h before backing off.

I seriously thought I was going to die, but it's so exhilerating and addictive that you just have to keep doing it.

Last time I thought I was going to die was just yesterday.
I was riding down into a quarry with 2 of my friends and to get down there we had to go down a slippry dirt hill with ditches in it. I was going atleasr 40kmh, or even more, I knew I was going to loose control at one point, as I was riding right next to the ditches, I didn't want to brake to slow down, because I'd just slide out and fall off.
So, when I was almost at the bottom I hit a ditch, me and my bike slid for a few meters, just missing some big concrete drain pipe. Luckly, I came out with no cuts or grazes. I think the mud and grass saved me from the rocky dirt ground. :D

Jack.

You can thank our recent lovely rain for that.

I don't have any crazy car stories, but I do have one incident that happened a few years ago. At the time I suffered from some sort of heart condition, if I worked myself up eventually my heart would pump in some sort of weird way; causing a loss of blood flow to my body. Usually my fingers go numb, along with mytoes and ears; nothing too crazy. This one time in particular was the most extreme. I was skateboarding at our skatepark, and after a hard session I decided to sit down. Sure enough the condition kicked in with its usual side effects. The only problem was that it kept getting progressively worse. A couple minutes after it started I felt the numbing move into my stomach and into my chest. Eventually, it hit my head. At this point I started blacking out and my last coherent thought was "Please come out of this before my brain goes without oxygen past the point of no return." By this time my friends had noticed something was seriously wrong, so they dragged me over to the grass and laid me down. They poured water all over my face and stuck a bottle of it in my mouth. Somehow I managed to swallow it down, and the numbing receded. That's the closest i've come, and hopefully will ever come.

That was a bit freaky, but I knew we were going to be fine. Though I didn't think my car would come out of it as well as it did ... or the parked car we almost hit. It felt as if I was performing some Hollywood stunt to be honest, all risks aside, it was quite spectacular.

I've only ever had one moment where I've lost my cool and thought seriously that I was going to die. I was about seven or eight when this happened. We were at a friend of my parents' house for a barbecue, and everyone had gone inside to prepare dinner. I was outside playing Soccer (sorry Britain - Football) with a few of the kids in the backyard, but they went inside for a little while. I wasn't ready to finish playing, but playing Soccer by myself was getting boring, so I decided to go exploring. I found the pool, which wasn't fenced off (at this period of time, pools without a barrier for children weren't a big issue). The covering was over the top, and was stretched out. To me, a seven/eight year old child, the pool covering looked like solid ground. I'd spotted something on the other side of the pool, so I decided to take a look.

I stepped onto the covering and sank through the middle. The covering twisted around me, and seeing as at this point I couldn't swim, I got dragged to the bottom. I screamed and flailed until I got to the bottom. At this point I thought I was going to die. Seemingly at the last minute, my Dad spotted me through the kitchen window and sprinted outside. He dove into the pool, grabbed me and yanked me up. Third time I'd almost drowned.

Losing your cool and thinking your going to die are two very different things, you can keep your cool and still believe your going to die, you just don't panic or go into shock about it thats all. Like when I was in the car wit my dad and we got hit at 80mph, I didn't panic at all, it's harder to judge if you paniced or or not when you fall 2 stories, it's over too fast for any thoughts to really go through your mind and unless your trained you probably won't be able to find the safest body position to land in, I just landed on my arse. When we finally pulled over after the car crash my first words to my dad were, "was that a woman driver".

I suppose, but the only time I ever lose my cool is when I believe I'm going to die. I haven't really ever lost my cool since I was little, no matter how upset or angry I am. Probably my biggest pitfall, but you get that.

Yeah sure I get thet. I've lost my cool with family members before, but I only lose my cool when it comes to arguments with my brother or farther, when I'm under pressure or in scary situations I don't then to lose it.

Probably last night when I had a seizure, i'm going to be going to the hospital in a few minutes... proper topic eh? Strange :P I was just gonna post another thread. I was conscious throughout the entire thing, just felt like there was an earthquake going on, but I couldn't move, talk, see, etc. I felt like a vegetable. The only thing I could control was my breathing. Then about 30 seconds later, I was able to get up and move around. Scared the crap outta me. I'll be back, i'll miss you guys.

I hope everything turns out okay. Best of luck, Thirdeye. You'll be fine, man, just keep your chin up. 👍

I just got back from the doctor's and they said that it was "most likely" a seizure, but he had no way of determining, so i'm going to be going to a neurologist's for examination. I didn't have to go to a hospital after all since I didn't lose consciousness. *phew*. Still a bit shaken up. It's one of the most frightening experiences in the world when you can't do anything at all, but breathe.

Damn....

I have something that when I get up from a chair or something I begin to see colors. It's ALWAYS after I stand up an go walking. It's always blocking my view and preventing me from seeing anything
Once it was so bad, I was just leaving the hospital for THIS color stuff, and I stood up and walked with my mum through the hallway. I saw it coming again and this time it was bad and when I could see again I was sitting on the ground while my mum was holding me. I didn't notice ONE damn thing of me going down!!:scared:

They said they though I didn't have enough iron in my blood, but a test pointed out I had enough iron!:scared::sick:

I didn't realize at the time but this could've easily killed me. Me ( 12 ) and my brother ( 7 ) were hiting foam golf balls around our backyard when my dad said he my mom and my younger sister were goin to go get some KFC( Kentucky Fried Chicken ) so I thought we had to go inside because I was never trusted to be outside when they were gone.

So any way my brother wants me to find him a good clump of grass to tee his ball up and I find one near our fence and set it up for him. While hes setting up i kinda just ake one step back and start to daydream about somthing and next thing I know I hear a loud whack and have my head doing a whiplash movement. I hear him say sorry and face start to burn like h*** just above my lip. So I run up the stairs of my deck , stop for a second a look at my blood covered hand i disbelief. Then I run the rest of the way to the back door onpen it and fall down and just start yelling as loud as I can.

My older sister comes over and flips out cuz of the hug puddle of blood on the floor. She gets me a wash clothe and I use it to stop the bleeding and she looks at it and tell me I've got a slit clear through my that's about an inch long. Of cousre I want to see this for myself and I go look in a mirror and start to see stars when I could see my gums through my lip.
When my dad comes he thought it was that bad until he saw it because my brother didn't tell it left a hole.

So after that I got to spend 6 hours at Mary Washinton Hospital. Getting an open wound cleaned out really hurts. It hurt more than getting hit, but I didn't make sound. It wasn't until later after talking to the docter that I realize that I could've died, which affected my brother more than it did me.

A few days ago when my girlfriend told me she was late for her period.

BlackZ28's girlfriend: I imply that I am possibly pregnant.
BlackZ28: OMG I'm gonna DIE!!

Sounds funny to me.

Me, too. Had the same reaction when my wife missed hers.

@Thirdeye: Good luck with that ****. I used to have a heart condition when I was a kid. Nearly blacked out one time while walking across a parking lot. Glad I don't get that stuff anymore.

Probably means you'll just have to take it easy and exercise slowly.

I was refering to possible pregnancy, not a medical problem. Of course if she IS pregnant that's not too funny for you.

Touring Mars
When I was 17, I worked in a restaurant/bar as a kitchen porter, and one day I was asked to bleach all the white coffee cups and saucers etc., which involved emptying the water from the industrial dishwasher and replacing it with bleach. I did this, and the cups all came out sparkling and new-looking. I then let them all dry. Feeling, quite proud of myself that I did this cumbersome and arduous task without screwing it up, I neatly stacked all the cups back in the restaurant, ready to use. The head chef then asked me, "Where are all the cups? You can't have done all those that quickly, surely?", to which I proudly responded, "Nope, I have, and I even put them back out in the restaurant!"... the chef then had a fit, saying that they then had to be rinsed atleast three times in the dishwater with water only. I went as pale as my newly bleached cups... I looked out into the restaurant expecting to see people gagging and holding their throats in agony, and envisaged my future - behind bars, guilty of atleast 36 counts of manslaughter, and wanted internationally for crimes against coffee. As it turned out, nobody noticed... and I was left to enjoy my youth as a free man....
 tell me where so i wont go there.

Ive had lots of falls:D falling off of walls and stuff, mostly onto beaches and into the sea but nonetheless scary.

Last year at brighton marina, me and my friend walked down the Marina Arm, it was windy, peeing down with rain, it was slippy and the waves were coming up over the side, on the lower level, the wall is only knee height, the wind caught me off guard as did a wave and it pulled me off the side, probably a 20 foot drop into the water, the water was only about 6 foot deep so i managed to get back to shore, but my god, that was **** scary.
