hi johnBM01,

I am with you here..

either these poeple who say it is too easy have no life and do nothing but play gt4 or its just thier egos talking. I'd say its the later personally. big egos and big talk. but go easy on them as they are only trying to impress hundreds of people on the forum who they dont even really know with thier BS big ego talk. to say the game has some hard parts would be admiting a weakness on their behalf and even I wouldnt want someone halfway across the world who has never seem me and never will that I had a weakness of some sort and tha I am human and fail every now and then....

gah!
egotistical infantile morons really get me going. sorry bout the rant.

oh and a quick survey to those who are complaining about realism... how many of you (the complainers) use a ds2 controller or anything but a premium wheel? how many of you also do not have a home made of purchased cockpit to play the game in?

cause realistically no real racecar driver sits on his/her lounge and races from there by pushing button, twiddling joysticks and flinging around a cheap plastic made in tiawan wheel!

seriously guys, get over the realism issue and get a life.

Do you use a wheel-and-pedal setup, or a standard controller? Sounds like you're probably using a controller, and if you are, I completely understand why the difficulty level of the game seems pretty high to you. I couldn't possibly make even one clean lap on any track, with any car, if I had to use a controller. It wouldn't seem "hard" to me, it would seem impossible.

Dear Mr E I Moron :p
sorry bout the rant. just tired of whingers...

yes I do use a ds2, but I can make it really easy too. just add more hp...
I dont use asm and still manage clean lap btw. :)

I need a holiday.

I don't understand people's comments about the Dual Shock 2. I race with a DFP, but I used the DS2 for a long time. Never had any problems. I'm just as good with either controller. I prefer the DFP only because it is more realistic and better practice for RL racing.

Honestly, I think the DS2 is used as an excuse. As in 'I can't beat X, so it must be the controller'.

thanks for replying skant. for a moment there i thought my rant broke the forum :)

Jacques Villaneuve (the CART champ / F1 driver), when playing GT3, used a DS2.
Not sure if he still uses it with GT4, though.

Survey: I use a DFF wheel, but I don't complain about GT4's realism, only about its quality (it's still a beta...)

Cheers,

MasterGT

thnaks for the reply masterGT. yeah the game has a few glitches hey. I tottaly dont know which HP is the real one! :)

still a very fun game tho :)

One minute observing me lurching around a track with a controller, and you would understand perfectly...

I think the majority of GT players out there are making the game a lot easier than it really is. They will enter a race, find out they can't hang, exit out, do a special conditions race with a 800-900hp GT car, load up on cash, and max out the fastest car they can afford that can enter the race. (even B-spec it) I remember on the GT3 forums people talked about going through the majority of the game using the F1 cars and complain about the AI. I've said it once and I'll say it again...GT4 offers a challenge for those who want one. Those who have the patience for a challenge. Some people just want to get through the game as quickly as possible, aquiring every car, and earning mad cash, and there's nothing wrong with that. Those who have patience will experience the challenge they desire. I usually find if I can pass the AI on straits without drafting, then I have an overpowered car, and hence are not seeking a challenge. The fight for first position should occur in the corners... If PD places restrictions on races and finds a way to stop all the "picking on the little guy" races, I have a feeling the majority of the AI complaints will stop. I'm not denying the fact that the AI needs improvement, I'm just saying if you want a challenge, you can make one... 👍 👍

Absolutely! It took me about 15 attempts to find the right car and setup to run the Tuning Car event in Professional Hall, and have it competitive. Either I was outmatched, or the AI was, and I hate both scenarios. I don't want to win by a country mile, where's the fun in that? I want to have to work my butt off and have a tight, fair, and competitive race, preferable taking the lead somewhere on the final lap (or crossing the like two or three abreast...okay now I'm dreaming ;) )

Of course you can, if you laboriously take the time to figure out what combination of car, tires, and HP you can use in a given event to give the poor AI a chance against you. But only if, when you re-enter the race, the program has not completely re-shuffled the list of cars you are going up against, forcing you to exit and do the whole exercise over again.

Then, of course, when you re-enter, the list of competitors will have completely changed again, and you're back where you started. The quality of the AI is matched by the lame way the game auto-selects your AI competition. These two "features" are what we whiners are complaining about.

We shouldn't have to do this. This is PD's fourth version of the game. If they cared about the quality of the racing, they could simply have implemented the following:

When you enter an event in GT mode, the same difficulty scale we see in Arcade mode appears. Slide it left or right to suit your skill level.

Click "OK" and another menu appears, listing all the AI competitors available for that event. You are prompted to "Choose five". You select the cars you want to race, and click OK.

There now, that wasn't hard, was it? Two simple menus in GT mode, and GT4 would have been a game that would be customizable to everybody's taste. Instead, Kaz would have us running the license tests over and over and over again, "experiencing" what he wants us to "experience".

You hear that right guys! ^
When I got the game I rushed through it and ofcourse used tuned cars with alots of hp to win the races. After 2 weeks, I was bored on the game. Now sitting in front of my TV playing GT4 again (2nd save) and earning alots of a-spec points does actually change the game's experince and the experince of the AI. When I first played the game I thought that 17 a-spec pts was much but when I started to use a less better cars and was getting 100-200 a-spec pts it was alot funnier since there is a challange in this game! And while you are comlaining about the AI sucks so much and bla bla bla..., I'm enjoying the game at it's best.
;)

@ Ving, in all fairness some people will find GT very easy, if they play every hour of every day then they will find things easy! it just boils down to pratice. I do on the other hand agree that alot of people on here sya that GT is far too easy and dont have the skillz to back up their claim.

As for me ive alread y stated that GT is for me a driving simulator and not a racing sim IMO, but I dont find GT too easy, I found the rallying a little too easy but thats because the AI in GT is so lame it finds it hard to drive propally on dirt and cant make all the best lines, to see what i mean watch the time attack examples in GT3 and then watch an AI car go round and see what i mean.

I personally find the Mission Hall a big Problem tho as im not that good at driving with a wheel as i am with a pad and at the moment im trying to do it with the DFP and pedels, where as i completed GT1, 2, 3 and prologue with a pad. In fact i would go to say that I am at least 1 to 2.5 maybe even 3 seconds slower with a wheel at the moment than i am with a pad, and it takes sometimes two or 3 goes at particular races to do it.

Im sure some people on here claim to have reached 100% but havent, im sure people on here say they have real cars and gotrack racing every week but dont, in the end lying never get you far in life and eventually they will have to own up and accept their fate. I wouldnt get angry with them i would just sit back and watch them argue till they are blue in the face with each other, they wont get better at GT for it and will probably end up not enjoying the experiance as much as people who are honest enough to ask for help instead.

I agree with you completely, we shouldn't have to do this. And to add to this; the whole tuning option sort of throws everything off when the AI cars in races are pre-determined and stock. If you tune your car, there's no reason the other drivers aren't going to try match your level of tuning as well. Something as simple as a racing suspension gives one a much greater advantage. This is what I like about games like TOCA race driver 2 where all the cars are evenly classed, much like RL. I don't care how they do it, but PD needs to find a way to somehow match the cars per race so no one car is outclassed. And to suit those with opposing taste, implement some sort of adjustable AI meter at the beginning of the game to satisfy each gamer. So many preferences to accomodate. :boggled: ... Good luck PD... 👍

I think GT4 is a very good compromise between realism & fun. Get into a LAN party with a few friends that can race, and wow, it can be very fun -- .001 has seperated 1st from 2nd before. Imagine the excitement!

And anyone who says they have "mastered" GT4 truely dosen't understand driving. You can never "master" driving. You only get better everytime you take to the wheel, whether on GT4 or RL.

Example: Considered one of the best F1 drivers ever, Aryton Senna at Monaco lapped Prost by 2secs while on pole in an identical McLaren. He only got better.

PS: Grand Prix Legends is the most realistic ! :)

Good points made in this place. Here's what I got to say to you guys.

I finished all gold, 100% on a DS2, so the controller vs. DFP thing shouldn't be an issue.

People who think races are too easy, you can use an underpowered car, or use crappy tires. There are no races, with the exception of dirt/snow tracks, that don't let you use standard economy tires

The menu that is in arcade mode is exactly what i thought needed to be in simulation mode also, except the AI difficulty should have a minimum difficulty according to each race. It wouldn't be fair if someone got 100% doing "0" AI difficulty races throughout the whole thing. For example, if you were in Special conditions, easy, 0 could be a minimum ai difficulty, I guess. But if you were in SC hard, 3 or 4 should be the minimum difficulty for that particular track

Also, I think the GT2 power limit should have been reinforced, because I'm sure there are GT players who complain about it being so "easy", but use cars that are 300 hp more than the competition and use Bspec the whole way through

Please, on my request, don't complain about it being too easy if you don't have at least 15000 A spec points, 100% complete, and 80 golds. Those golds and missions prove the difference between someone who can put up a good fight and someone who wimps out and buys a stage 4 turbo on a LM car they win in a Bspec endurance race.

If it really, really is that easy though, use an underpowered car/crappy tires and hope for one of those difficulty sliders in sim mode, as Zardoz mentioned.

Edit: and just for the record, I DONT think GT4 is too easy, I think it's completely fine, even though when you match up to your competition, they are easy to beat after a lap or two. Adding weight usually helps me get a more interesting race.

Yes, I totally agree with you! Well said. ;) 👍
15425 a-spec @ 20.0% right now is my game progress, and I had 12,000 a-spec @ 53% on my 1st save. Now, you see the difference? ;) It's alot more challenging now than it was before when I started collect a-spec points.
