What WILL you make with a GPS enabled or very detailed track editor?

I want to see how fast the trip to and from my daughter's school is in the Sauber.

Making Deal's Gap/Tail of the Dragon, Gunsai Touge, Okayama/TI Aida Circuit, Old SCHOOL Fuji-Speedway, Ebisu East, Ebisu West, Ebisu South, Sekia Hills DEC, Bihoku, & Nikko Circuit

wow alot of you are going to spend alot of money flying around to make these tracks lol!
Everyone should feel responsible to map the best driving roads or race tracks in their local area. Thats why i'm gonna stick to whats in spitting distance.

I think driving an hour or two for a twisty mountain road is worth it if the app is accurate enough. However that being said I will be driving the streets right by my place to test the accuracy before I make my way to Palm Springs and get hosed by bugs and inaccuracies.

Would have to make the Auckland motorway loop, 44km (27miles) of 80/100kph zone... great high speed route.

Then a nice street circuit with a good straight, then some tight park turns.

I've been using a GPS app on my phone to track my cycling, and its amazingly accurate! Im looking forward to this, when or IF it gets added to GT6.

I would like to make old street courses from the past.

In particular I will recreate the Street course that was in Downtown Columbus Ohio for a few years for IMSA races. Group C Monsters shredded the streets I drive on to work every day.

The whole 1988 race on youtube (which was overshadowed by the death of Al Holbert):

This all happened before I lived here, but I will LOVE flying down this track in a R89c. And desperately hope for a Porsche 962...

I was wondering if there was an estimated time as to when the course maker is going to be released. I have almost beat the game 100% and need something new.

You can tell when even the smallest scrap of information has been released when GTPlanet goes into meltdown.

No, no news yet.

Hi all, I don't even have a PS3 yet, but news of this feature is what finally pushed me over the edge and got me looking at my budget (I know PS3 can be had for ~$200 these days, but gotta get some things in order first). As a long time Simbin fan, and someone who doesn't go for NFSUnlimited and its ilk, the new physics engine and promise of track editor utilizing GPS, I think I'm ready to check out the GT series. Pardon the digression.

Of course I'll make familiar local twisties into tracks, and I assume you will be able to make your own dirt routes as well, which would be stellar.

People have mentioned The Tail of the Dragon, which I have ridden on my motorcycle a few times. I have to say, there are plenty of roads in the mountains of NC that I enjoy more than US129@Deal's Gap but seldom get to drive. US421 between Mtn City and Bristol TN comes to mind. But thinking about all of these great roads brings up a question:

If GPS data is already in Google Earth etc, is it possible that we could create tracks using this data without having to log them on our phones? I assume that Sony's data is all closed source and importing Google data would be impossible. Of course, there are GT6 players everywhere, and there are smartphones everywhere, so if we can share tracks, that will probably be just as good.

Anyway, can't wait to see this feature in action.

Waterford hills road racing track in Waterford Michigan. It is said that if you can be fast there, you can be fast anywhere. Use to race my 1986 Golf GTI in the ITB class there, it was a blast.

Let's just hope it comes soon in a month or two. Hopefully, my brother's phone will support the app. I was hopeful about being able to do this, but then I heard about the restrictions of certain phones. Damn, will I be disappointed.

If it's possible I'm going to make Millport if it's possible.

I also want to be able to have this in the track.

If you do Millport Ill do Watkins Glen and the new CNY Motorsports Raceway that has not opened yet but is on the cards in the near future.

What kind of restrictions did you hear about? Surely it will work with any Android or iPhone that has GPS.

Wait, I believe that only has to do with mobile features like using a phone or tablet to access certain GT6 features.

Mobile Devices
"Online community features can be accessed through the iOS Safari and standard Android browsers. In addition, afuture update will provide linked features through a specialised mobile device app."

Browsers are like google chrome, Safari, IE, etc. You should be fine with any phone you have.
Although the course maker app itself will probably be limited to Google Play and the Apple Store

Cool. I have a cheapo LG Optimus and it has pretty decent GPS capabilities. I use Google Tracks to record bike rides and it only flakes out once in a while. Of course, I would hate for it to misbehave on the day when I pay to drive my phone around VIR. :P

I live at a lake and there is a road that goes around it that is about 8 miles long with turns, hills and some long straights. It would be a blast, in real life but the 35 mph speed limit and the limited sight distance makes it a bit hard to have fun.

I live on the Gold Coast (Aus) So would be well placed to attempt the street track here. I'd do the full version.

But the biggest issue I can see would be that the track winds through the buildings and they ( and the feel of driving through them ) couldn't be replicated in any easy way.

PD must be looking at this and think, how are we meant to kindly say to millions of people that this isn't going to happen?

I'm definitely going to try to get a brilliant loop near where I live in Kelowna BC...up the very narrow and twisty Westside Rd from Kelowna to Vernon (considered one of the "worst" roads in BC by people who can't drive), then back south to Kelowna on highway 97 (wide, high speed sweeping corners with a couple decent straights to really open it up). And you want elevation change?...this has elevation change :). It's probably too big though.

Maybe I'll just start with the Knox Mt Hillclimb

^^^

I've been on that Kelowna to Vernon road, the highway section I mean. Wide and sweeping is how I remember it.

Do you really think it won't happen? Its true that sales were not very high for GT6 compared to GT5. Maybe they'll save it for GT7.

Although, an app like this should be very simple to make. It's the user-friendly track editor that would take some effort. But then, most of that work is done if they're building off of GT5.
