So today I stumbled on a brand new $20 note. I'm curious what you guys would do if you found one! It's a simple and funny question but think about it.

Would you: Ex.

  • Save it?
  • Buy food?
  • etc...

I spent a few minutes debating what I should spend it on. There are so many things...

I ended up buying a $2 sandwich.
If you decide to save it, why? For what?

(There was no one around at all, I couldn't have returned it. It was early in the morning. (I assume the person dropped it the night before.)

First I would make sure that nobody has lost it who I can locate and return the money to in the next 30 seconds. Then I'd save it.

I'd go exchange it for 14.8889 euros. Then, I'd buy a pack of JPS and put 10 euros of fuel on my car. There.

1) Remove wallet from pocket
2) Open wallet
3) Insert $20
4) Place wallet back in pocket
5) Profit

I would wonder why the note wasn't Pound Sterling, so I'd go and convert it. Then I'll be left with about £13 to spend on pretty much whatever I want, probably drinks in my case. :p

6) Share a percentage with my family - I always do this with money I find or win.
7) Put a bit of it in my Charity Bowl - a container on the mantel in my living room that when filled is taken out and given to some homeless individual on the street.

This topic reminded me of a friend I once hung out with in my teens - and 'twens', too. He would always find money. Continuously. Whenever our gang was out loafing, he'd suddenly stoop with his customary satisfied "Ah!" and there would be a coin or bill in his hand. It infuriated us! How come he was so lucky?
Of course I never stopped badgering him about it. What was his secret?
Well, one day, in a mellow mood, a few glasses of Scotch substituted for the Sodium P., and he admitted that his father had taught him that keeping his head down was wise - to not stick his snot too high in the air. That brought him his luck, he says, because no one really looks down when they walk.
Since then, I have found money almost every time I go out. Even if it was just a nickel.
Yes, the streets are paved with gold.

However - if it is possible to find the owner, one should, and return it - if only a quarter. Could be someone wanting to make an important call, and lost their last quarter.

No one likes losing money. Money is power, and it is a loss of power.

Once, just for a lark, I placed a fiver in the grass beside a path that high school kids take everyday. I sat on a nearby bench, watching unobstrusively. Dozens of individuals blithely passed the blue bill on the green grass. Finally, after almost an hour had passed, and I was about to go retrieve my money, a clump of girls came along, and one did spot it, checked it out cautiously first, then pounced, grabbed, leaped into the air screaming, and basically bounced all the way away.

I laughed so hard, it was the best fiver I spent. Happy people, even happiness engineered, makes the world come truly alive.

Guys, this isn't a depression-focused thread.

Carry on.

Well, in my non-existent utopia a $20 windfall would then be used to peruse yard sales and thrift stores, to buy as much stuff as possible that is somehow pertinent to my life.

Of course, in my utopia I could just have all the money I wanted but that would take all the fun out of thrift shopping - I genuinely enjoy it! 👍 WAY better stuff than at 95% of all the overpriced, underbuilt stuff you'd find in a department store.

Look around, if anybody is watching i'll punch them and run away. I'll then spend it on bubble gum

Ditto, except I fully would expect to spend the money on something in my daily life, whether lunch at work, morning coffee or just something I need around the house.

I leave a penny whenever I find bills on the floor; shows how much people are losing:nervous:

Used to be a 5$

I actually found $20 yesterday walking my daughter to school. I used it to buy detergent. lol

Probably just buy ciggarettes, a packet go's for around $17AUD down here so then prob just put the change in the money box.

Funnily enough I opened my money box a few days ago after a year of saving $1 & $2 coins, ended up with $486, feels good man.
