What would YOU find dissapointing in GT5?

I really don't care about the Premium vs Standard debate; however, I prefer to race viewing from a cockpit. So, I don't care how any of the standard cars look from the cockpit view, as long as we get a makeshift one. I really don't want to switch from bumper cam to cockpit view for different cars.

The car views in GT4 make me feel like I am sitting on the roof of the car... doesn't really work for me. If they get the viewing angle right, I might go for it though.

I'll be seriously disappointed if the license tests are too easy due to SOME people whining about their difficulty. If you don't want to gold them then DON'T DO IT. Then you won't get the prize car. If you want the car you have to do the tests. It used to be difficult for me to get bronze on most tests, and now I have 23 golds and one silver in the original GT (still working on that last IA test). If it's too easy then it's not rewarding.

Restrictions on off-road races - limited to AWD in GT4 kinda put a damper on things - IIRC the Lancia Stratos was RWD and made and excellent rally car.

Also I sure hope the penalty system was corrected to also affect the AI cars if they mess up. Lop sided when you were the only one grabbing a 5 sec penalty.

Rally racing wasn't limited by drivetrain in GT4, and you could definitely use the Stratos

I really hope they change the rolling starts, I have never seen a real series where every car stays at a lower speed until they get to the line. In the real world once the lead car takes the green everyone goes, this is something that really frustrates me about GT5P as it adds unneeded and unrealistic difficulty. Unfortunately though, based off of the latest videos this is something

Here is how the starts should be(skip to 1:13 for start)

Agree! 👍 I think that underlying this is an inherent problem with the AI. If the AI were accurate, there would be little chance to catch some of the cars when you start 8th and 1st is so far in front of you--unless you do a very long race.

Instead, we have these unrealistic rolling starts that are spread out over half a mile or more and the AI vehicles have to be inaccurate if you are going to have any chance to win. This all seems very arcade like to me and it doesn't fit the realism in other parts of GT5 at all.

Because of this starting mechanism and the AI, GT has always been a driving simulator but not much of a racing one :grumpy:

Being unable to do donuts in RWDs. In GT4 I could only do donuts in 4WDs. Also, in GT4 the cars always snap-oversteered, which I found annoying. It was impossible for me to maintain a drift.

Eh? What do you mean you can't drift? In GT4 you CAN drift, unless for the maintaining part that needs some skill and heavy tuning in the suspension. Not sure about donuts though when you got a snap-oversteer it usually means you're REALLY pushing your car to it's limit. Try to experiment with the suspension and go for it at practice mode.

Back to main topic: The same, slow, I-don't care if I-hit-you-cause-my-ride-is-indestructable AI. That's one.

Tuning village; I NEED to see a difference with each products, not a same result with different brands! E.g: HKS turbo gives the same HP as an AMUSE turbo. Bummer. Same goes with tyres, need to see some, even if it's only slight difference

Last, but not least... I want the return of GT and GT2's nostalgical jazz!!?

Hmm - Might have to blow the dust off and check that out. My bad I thought there was a drivetrain limitation. My mind is not as sharp as it used to be. :)

EDIT : Some cars are restricted from dirt/snow tracks - on a brief test I was unable to load a few higher end Jags or an Aston - I know a little unpractical for snow but it still would be nice to whip an XKR on a snow/road track like Chamonix or Tahiti Maze.

Lack of some of the original tracks is going to disappoint me, I just love grand valley speedway and deep forest raceway. Another track that I would love to see in GT5 is Citta di Aria, but I'm not really sure that it'll be included.

Another tiny feature that I am expecting is an adjustable sports transmission, one that offers high levels of customization without the whine of the racing transmission.

On the cars side, I would seriously be disappointed to see European cars in few numbers, there should be tons and tons of those.

I will only be buying a ps3 for GT5 and GT5 only, down here I'd be paying an equivalent of ~$550 for the game +ps3, I hope it is worth it.

Obviously I'm just taking a shot in the dark here, but seeing as how Grand Valley, Trial Mountain, and Deep Forest are the unofficial "trifecta" of original circuits that have been in every full version of GT... I imagine they'll return. GV alone is kind of a signature, in my mind 👍

I agree. And I have a feeling Grand Valley will make it, considering all four GT games have a 60 lap endurance race on that track. Hope they don't break the tradition in this one. :)

Hi fellas ive recently tried this in prologue and its definately present.

Seems odd.
Anyway hope its not in GT5.

I've mentioned this in 2008 here on GTP when we were discussing the physics of Gran Turismo.

I dont understand, you dont brake? they lock because of nothing?
He was showing that you can lock your wheels while braking and steering at the same time. This is against the laws of physics. No car can steer while the front wheels are locked.
This simply shows that the physics engine of GT5p are still part arcade based and not sim based like a lot of fanboys claim.

Thank you kikie, that's what I meant.
I'm not the author of that video, I discovered it when looking for Forzas permanent driving aid.
Once those front tyres lock. You should go straight on.

No point to point races & made up rules in the WRC.If screen tearing is 100x worse than GT5p, i would be but you can't have everything. If a livery editor is lack lustre.Apart from from that, i'm not disappointed.Hopefully locations does = countries.

Finding out that Red Rock Valley Speedway isn't present in the game.
If it comes out as DLC later, I'm OK with that. :)

The lack of an epic rage button:

Main thing for me:

If the standard cars don't get the same audio quality as the premiums. Graphics can go to hell, I'm in it for the audio.

Disappointed that they couldn't secure Porsche. However, I'm extremely excited that they managed to put my two favorite supercars in the game! The McLaren F1 and the Bugatti Veyron. Oh my god, the battles between these two will be absoultely epic. I also acknowledge PD's progress in aquiring Lamborghini and Ferrari.

I'm unsure about the damage in the game... I've played racing games where the damage is extremely touchy. I'm really not confident that I can go an entire race without at least bumping one of the AI cars or a wall/barrier of some sort - especially on tracks I'm not familiar with. I don't want damage to be something that constantly nags away at the experience. We're not professional race car drivers, and in a game like Gran Turismo where we get to explore the abilities of these cars with such lack of restraint, it won't be a perfect picture. Hopefully damage is something we can toggle. I never needed damage in the game, Gran Turismo managed without it and quite succesfully...

Customization. I haven't heard anything about the customization options in this game. It just seems as if that feature was put on the back burner or something. I'd assume it has the same options as GT4 - which I'm okay with. Disappointed that they couldn't expand on it a little more. I really hope they cut his "performance points" thing out. I'll be extremely disappointed in Gran Turismo 5 if customization options was limited to just "performance points." This might be a replay value factor.

Still no drag racing in the game. It's rather indirect otherwise, but I'd like a bonafide drag racing experience too. Drag racing can be just as technical as any other form of racing.
