I disagree. Remember, GT4 is a video game that was meant to be fun, not aggravating. If there was a way to see that your engine was about to blow, in previous races or qualifying, and if you don't take care of it, then yes, maybe that could be in. But, having your race engine blow without you knowing ahead of time it could happen, without you doing anything wrong in the race to warrant your engine to blow, is just plain crazy and stupid.
How would PD go about doing all of this? Do you know what guages PD would have to include on the screen, and what the readings would be on those guages, inorder to make this come true? Oil pressure guage, tach, volts, amps, water temp, etc...
Besides, you cannot recover from an engine failure, but a battery failure, you can. It takes about 30 seconds, at the most, to replace a bad battery. I say yes with dead betteries, but no to dead engines. But, I would like to see engines that "blow" and reduce HP to a much lower level, causing you to slow down considerably. Perhaps, noted reduction in HP before, or right after, a race leaving you with the ability to replace worn engine parts like crank, cam, valves, Solid Lifters (heh), con rods, pistons, etc... before it's too late. Have this option labled "engine rebuild" or something to that effect in the "ENGINE & INTAKE SYSTEM" part of the "TUNE SHOP."
