Whats the story behind some seemingly strange differences between copies of GT5??

I'm wondering if they started printing some discs earlier than others and if the actual master copies were updated or differed between copies?

The most significant difference I have noticed to date is watching one of GTP Chris's videos doing B-Spec.

You could clearly see he had the option to choose traction control, manual transmision, skid recovery ASM etc, in B SPEC mode. I remember him being stumpted as well saying his girlfriend drives without them.

Until tonight I always thought this was as simple an explanation as some bug left in the 1.0 version of the game and fixed in 1.01 for launch, and I started with 1.01 on launch day of playing the game.
However I tried my disc on a Not updated PS3 with my disc not updated, and B spec mode is, as it is normally, has only options for tyres nothing else in B-sec mode.

Here is the video of you dont beleive me.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErQt0MiAcgE

wacth 3:20 into the video to see my point.

I wonder what kind of advanatge people leveling up b spec on that version would have with control over driving options in B spec mode?

What are the US version 1.0 discs like in this regard? If they are the same as mine, What version was GTP Chris using?

Another thing I dont see the point to, is I notice you guys in the US, on your B spec driver profiles, you have "Mental Strength"
and just "Strength", and we Have "Mental strength"
and "Physical Strength"
Also instead of "career", you guys have "experience"
.

Seems harmless enough, but again why does this seeminly pointless difference exist in the first place?

Watch the above youtube video at the very beggining to see this. In the AU copies they are like his video in this regard, but as I said even 1.0 AU version of the game does not have the weird B spec driving options.

Makes you wonder what else could be different.

Finnaly, did you guys in the US get different song tracks to the AU version which I assume is the same as the EU?

It certainly is interesting and somewhat worrying with the upcoming B-Spec competition(FAIL).

If there are even slight differences we can be sure that the 2 versions are not the same and theres no telling what else is different.

The word choices are almost certainly due to differences in localization. I bet the UK versions also say "tyre", "colour" and "favourites". Whoever did the translations decided on different words, I imagine you can find this in plenty of games.

I haven't tried to change my B-Spec guys driving options, but I know I can go in and change his tire choices.

I am beyond "interesting" i just wonder what kinds of meetings they had as they cocked up the game in every area all at the same time.

Kaz's obsession with this "American Idol" sideshow carnival GT Acadamy is pathetic, it is like he fancies himself the Simon Cowell of video games or something - the guy has obviously lost focus and is enjoying the trappings of wealth and success and influence (which is ok) but then the title should not have been promoted as the best GT yet, they should have just called it "A new GT - its nothing like the old one and really has little you will recognize but please still preorder it by the millions".

Oh - wait, that wouldnt have worked as awell as "GT5 will be everything you dream it should be and I am promising it will be"... the regional differences I bet where probably never intended to be anything other than colloquial and language difference, but their quality control is so poor I would no be surprised if the various regions have unique bugs that need individual patching. :)

That does sound weird, sounds like the game might have changed slightly after they sent it out for localization.

Could've even been the localizers themselves, I know Japanese games can often get quite major changes when they're made for western markets, especially with regards to the interface.

Anyone have a Japanese version to compare to?

I have the NA standard retail version, bought it in Canada and it only has tire options, no TC or anything.

My non pre-order standard EU version just has the Tyre Change option. I feel cheated! I hope this is addressed in an update before too long.

So all B spec drivers are equal, it just sounds as if some are more equal than others (to borrow from George Orwell's "Animal Farm").

Maybe because they were planning on this upcoming "oh-so-cool-and-intense" B-spec race?
"My computer guy is better than yours!"
And they're giving away a hundred some thousand dollar car over it? (had to vent it sometime)
And alas, only in EU, stupid Americans and Japanese.

I pre-ordered 2 NA CE's from Newegg and b-spec has all options available same as a-spec.

Update - After I updated to 1.05 these options are gone, now i can only choose front and rear tires in b-spec mode.

I have the UK version and all I can adjust is tires. This is on the endurances races though, I haven't checked on the others.

CE? I have the Signature edition (which has the same disc as CE). Maybe its our discs

No, mine's just the standard copy.

Tyre option only for me as well. (Signature edition)
I need the damn driving line assist! My dumb a$$ driver keeps slamming into the wall or overshoots the corner even when I tell it to SLOW the f DOWN. :grumpy:

I read mention of the Chris guy who was kind enough to put up some videos before the game came out, and wondered what ever happened to him?. Is he still around and racing online?, or did he just vanish?.

Kinda strange is all im saying.
