What's this gauge in the 787B cockpit?

It changes color when the sun hits it. In the shade it turns off and it's green or yellow in the sun

Actually I think it's similar to how the gauges in other cars change color and brightness depending on how much light there is. There's also two switches on the left side with the same light that changes color.

Never noticed that, but I was gonna ask about that random 6.0 on top of the RPM, which sometimes changes to 7.0 i think

Then there's the gauge to the left of the others that works at some tracks and not others and has something to do with fuel consumption. No search on the net can verify what it is or how it works and when a thread similar to this one was up asking the question some time ago, no-one could come up with an answer. I've noticed one of the GT3 cars has a readout like it too can't remember which one.

It appears to be a switch rather than a gauge, it has a Left and Right setting but I can't think what you'd want to adjust side to side on a conventional race car. If it was front/back I'd take a guess at a brake balance adjuster or something to do with the aero, but left/right is a bit odd.

Edit: Probably a fuel/air ratio adjuster

L= Lean (less power, increased mpg)
R= Rich (More power, decreased mpg)

TBH with it says L R it could ether me electric mirrors(you do get these in enduro racing due to drivers being diff heights etc) or indicators would be my guess.

Looks more like TURN to me, as there's no O at the end

You can't see the L in that picture, and the 'R' could be something else? Maybe it's the ignition switch then you press the button to turn the car on

@Smuttysy : I think you where right...

Considering the switch is mounted in a angle that follows the steering wheel, and the "L" is in direction the steering wheel would be moving if you turned left, and the "R" is in direction the steering wheel would be moving if you turned right, I would say it's the turn signal switch, however why a LMP car needs turn signals I have no idea.

Indicators are used mainly at night to show which side of the road they are going to move to to allow a car to pass or when they are passing a slower spec car. Its not a necessary fitting in the same way it is on road cars but it helps prevent tired drivers from second guessing each other and having unnecessary accidents

Can be useful if you've got a mechanical issue and are driving slowly back to the pits at night. Can also be used to show which side someone should pass on, so you indicate left and stay left they pass on the right.

Should just be the oil pressure, that's why it increases with RPM.
