They weren't, 2011 set the max engine size at 3.7L for Diesels and 3.4L for NA petrol engines. If they had been, Audi wouldn't have won that race as the old style 908's could do below 3:20 without much trouble. The Peugeot 908's lost the same amount of power that Audi did with the regulation change that year. Anyone running a 2010 spec engine in 2011 had a restrictor that only gave them around 550BHP.

Jeah thanks for clearing that up, was a big fault from my side. I only looked at the Peugeots livery :embarrassed: Obviously the 908s had to downgrade their engines too (so the R18 may ran with 540HP after all).

The issue in GT also is that you are racing them against Group C car and unrealistically powerful LMPs....all are doing 220 easily on the straights.....

If you restrict the Bentley back to 623BHP, it's actually pretty close on laptimes from what I can gather, although the track has been changed since it raced there. True that if you try it normally, stuff like the '05 Pescarolo will do >230MPH easily in a straight line which is going to make anything else look slow.

What I found interesting from racing the R18 and Bentley back to back was that the Bentley has a lot more mechanical grip than the R18 which shouldn't be the case as the R18 runs much wider tyres - 36CM front and rear.

@ Crowood

It's hard to know an exact power figure as they'll never release a realistic figure if asked. The 2010 spec 908's were apparently in the region of 750BHP and 1500NM torque, I'd assume the year after the power figure was around 550-600BHP going from numbers I've seen.

Wouldn't be surprised actually if they are more, since both Peugeot and Audi got more aggressive on the engine tuning when they started restrict the diesel more....Hence the infamous black smoke that were absent when they first started running diesels...
