with some mishaps on the nuremburgring i have gotten a 9:15 with the 120d and arcade tires. I defenatly think a sub 9 minute time is possible

Well I'd love to be able to tell you, but much to my annoyance I can only drive on the track for 3 minutes!

Ahh how I'd love to see whats around that next corner.

So in he mean time (until I get GT4) I just have to try and get the best distance I can, which so far it 6.65 kilometeres. Which was done in the 120i (not diesel) with standard road tires. I like to drive as if the car is standard, not with modded race tires.

On a side note: To me the 120i seems very fast on this track, can you just imagine trying to drive something more powerful, like a NSX Type R or something....It'll seem like your flying!

Or even better, the Audi R8 ;)

I've gotten right at 10:00 min. I'm the same as you Shure, I was driving on just the sports tires and the car really rolls a lot and is very touchy from so much stickiness. Once I put the normal tires back on I was much happier and ran the same time. Keep in mind I've only done a total of maybe 6 or 7 laps, (that's still over an hour :)).

And Shure, why don't you get the ripkit and remove the time limit from the demo ? I did that right when I got mine off ebay and then applied a PAL>NTSC converter, can't believe it all works...

I know of the ripkit, but where do you find the PAL-NTSC converter? I suppose that you still have to use a Swap Magic disc to play it though, correct?
If I was to just play the PAL game with the SM disc, will it look all weird and distorted?

I did look into it and I'm pretty sure that I need that swap magic thingy to get it to work, and I don't really wanna pay £20(ish) for something I'll only use on 1 game. If there's a way of doing it without it, I'd love to know.

120d the ONLY under 9-minute barrier i got was an amazing 8.55 :sly:
120i i do like 9.0X or so.

I'm only using sim tires, dsc off and the DFP wheel.

PS: Too bad i can't get consistent 8.55 laps :indiff: , i normally get like 9.01 or so with the diesel......

By way of a comparison, the new jaguar turbodiesel saloon laps in just under ten minutes in REAL life. The time was 9 mins 24 seconds, and the car was being driven by the lady that drives the "ring taxi" M5. Its estimated that she's done in the region of 15,000 laps, so she knows her way around.

I can't see how the 120d or 120i can possibly be quicker than a twin-turbo jag.

I guess its just the real world at odds with GT4 world.

Interesting tho.

You mean Sabine Schmitz, right? Hmm......she didn't win the 24H race for nothin' 👍

Using the deisel instead of pertrol and using sports or aracde tires instead of simulation, I can cut considerable times of my laps (or in my case get further around he track...damn time limit!). I mean you can take most of the corners at full speed with those super sticker tires on.

I think when I 'EVENTUALY' get the game, I cant really see myself using anything other than the factory fitted tires for pure time based races (ie no other cars on track), maybe sports at most, but most modern sports cars come with pretty good tires fitted as standard anyway, so in theory there shouldnt be much point. Driving around in a tuned up road car on super sticky slicks just doesnt sound like much fun to me. Your laps times would be much better 'fo sho', but I just think the element of fun would be lost somehow. Anyone else agree, or am I just being stupid :dopey:

You've got to take into account that the Jag is gonna be alot havier than the BMW, the Jag nearly ways 2 tons. I've also just been looking at performance figures and the BMW has a better 0-60. The BMW is only beaten slightly on top speed, but how long it takes to get their is not mentioned.

The BMW's that your using in the demo are the top of the range models, they are by no means slow (unless of course you comapre then to something fast :sly: ), and I'd put money on the BMW's being alot faster around corners too.

And on a final note: The girl that did the lap in the Jag had never driven the car before, and that was her first (and only) lap. Not bad going then I'd say.
