(estimate)

Depends on your setup. How much boost will you be running? Are you going to rebuild the engine, do headwork etc.?

I immediately say turbo, but...
How much will you be driving it, how much more you'll tune it after the turbo/sc install, etc. I say turbo though, more power potential even though there'll be lag, but who cares right? I don't know how much the stock GSR block is going to take though, and a supercharger is safer... but I still say turbo. Woohoo, if you end up doing it tell us how it goes.

well thanx but i just wanted an estimate of hp and lb-ft cause right now im pushin 203.8hp and 167.2lb ft so i guess im goin to try turbo

ill post the test drive in about 1 week the latest is the 23

thanx for your opinions but if you can covince me to change to supercharger plz post

203 hp at the wheels? If so, that's not bad for a not-so-modified N/A Honduh.

so you've got a B18C with an Intake, Header and Exhaust, and you're pushing 200hp @ the wheels? mind to tell me which parts you're using?

Turbochargers are much more efficient than superchargers, at least for the Honda engines. The only two supercharger kits for the B-Series engine are the Vortech one, and the Jackson Racing one. Vortech uses a prone-to-failure centrifugal shaft sc, while JR uses a prone-to-heat Roots blower...

power gains aren't exactly stellar with either of them, money is better spent on a good turbo kit and some good internals.

StreetRacing: 👎

Have you done any research just to get an idea of how much a turbo/sc, plus necessary items to support the extra power, is going to cost?

Just curious...

I doubt it.

If you fail at one place, go somewhere else. Or just get lucky and find someone that'll pass you for a fair price.:p

Exactly what I was saying. Those don't make 200 at the CRANK stock (i think 180?), so if you're making 203 at the wheels you've got to have more than intake, header, and exhaust. I'm thinking that was an at-the-crank figure.

try www.homemadeturbo.com . They have lots of "junkyard turbo projects." Nothing with huge power, but it's fun anyways.

170hp @ crank stock. even 203 @ crank is far fetched with those mods.

Unless you do it poorly, living in Maine, I can guarantee that you will pass.

I consider 200+ BHP huge enough.

Besides, I think there are a few places I can go for inspection that probably wouldn't even know what the funny bump on the exhaust manifold is. :D

I don't think we have "sniffer" tests around here either...

perhaps... nice rollercoaster rides in your avatar...

man, can't wait to put my POS back together and hit the dyno... all that turbo talk got me itching!

What does living in Maine have to do with it?

Maine has no major emission problems, and therefore extremely laid back laws concerning emission inspection. A certain state in the west has a reputation for being so strict, its laws force horsepower off certain autos so their manufacturers can meet the emission laws.

We had emissions tests a few years ago in Cumberland County. I think enough people complained, so they were removed. :)

2-A. Enhanced inspection. Beginning January 1, 1999, a motor vehicle that is required to be registered in Cumberland County and that is subject to inspection pursuant to subsection 1 must have an annual enhanced inspection. The following equipment is subject to inspection:
A. Equipment subject to inspection pursuant to subsection 2; [1997, c. 786, §1 (new).]

B. The fuel tank cap on 1974 and subsequent models of gasoline-powered vehicles; and [1997, c. 786, §1 (new).]

C. The on-board diagnostic system on 1996 and subsequent models. [1997, c. 786, §1 (new).]

A motor vehicle that is not required to be registered in Cumberland County may have an enhanced inspection under this subsection.

[1997, c. 786, §1 (new).]

Or maybe not. I'm not sure if "enhanced" includes emissions testing.

Well, no, you don't get more power. Assuming that you have shorter ratios, you will have more torque at the wheels and enhanced acceleration.

What tranny do you have?
