What's wrong with Cote D'Azur?

Love the track. Its my personal have fun time trial track.
EDIT: heres a video of me runing for fun in a 3 lap battle versus AI, tires overheated on last lap and it was impossible to drive.

about the missing bumps (i miss them but... read on):

Please mind, that renting the Nordschleife for a few hours and laserscan it is "somehow" manageable budget wise (planing, travel, material, renting, afterwork, etc).

Its another story with a temporary racetrack in a very wealthy city. They enable the Track for high prestige and enormous/incredibly high budget F1 races.

Think about it like this: Polyphone would scan/render the track, but the cost for us would be a GT5 which costs around 1k € per piece. I bet no one would dare to ask for the bumps...

I don't think PD laser scan tracks like the makers of iRacing do, I think they just add bumps where they think they should be. Any racing game developer can create a bump map from scratch, the fact that PD do it for some tracks & not others just comes accross as half hearted & lazy imo. I'd like to see a bump map option for the Course Creator, a slider that went from 0 to 10 ie: dead flat to dead bumpy! Without a realistic road surface there's even less for the physics model to react to which tends to neuter it, having bump maps for all tracks would certainly liven GT up a whole lot.

:grumpy:

As for Monaco still being too wide, once again I say half hearted & lazy.

👎

Bah, I don't care much about the bumps and the width, although an improvement will be nice.

Just did a few full-lap drift laps in there, words cannot express how much fun drifting there was. 👍

There are some walls where there shouldn't be
If you are referring to turn 1, personally I like that it has a wall. It prohibits people from cutting the turn. As it stands, people cut the chicane online (you'll see in my video the only time I cut it was when my tires locked up). If the wall wasn't there at the edges, people would drive straight through.

I love the track as it is, though wouldn't mind bumps, either. I would definitely like it to be used more.

Agreed

I'd also like one more slider to be able to do an individual bump, to make some big jumps. :D But yeah, great idea

That was my first attempt at a race there. Now I run 1:14s with the exact same settings on the same tires (racing hard)
Nice! I've got a few 1:14s but I can't run them consistently. I definitely hit them if I get a good draft from the A.I. but typically I'm in the high 1:15s to low 1:16s.

The track is a little different from it's real-life counterpart. There are some walls where there shouldn't be, and a couple sections (especially the swimming pool area) are too wide.

👍

And they can't do anything about it :grumpy:

I remembered from an F1 version for rfactor on how different and more complex that sector is.

Doesn't GT have an older version of the track? I also remember that the FIA changed that section to make it 'safer' but after much protest they put it back to normal the following season.

But if your doing a race there long enough to pit then it messes it up, as your supposed to stay on the inside of the apex on turn 1 after you exit the pit lane.

I don't think they should add walls on real tracks where they do not exist in real life. People cutting is easily dealt with.

People cutting is not easily dealt with. PD had done a horrible job with the penalty system. Look at Monza where drivers can run over giant rumble strips and not get a penalty.

Running with people you know mostly eliminates it, but in a open room just let them know not to and the consequences if they cut, assuming you are running the room or someone you know is.

People should be honest enough not to cut, if they do just don't play with them.

On the flip side at the first turn you make a small mistake and your in the wall. Watching an old video of a GT5 demo the other day all the walls were gone. Better damage would stop the corner cutting because there are speedbumps on monza that would easily wreck a car if hit at speed IRL.

I agree, i would love to see full suspension damage from mowing grass or driving over those bumps.
