Some episodes of Cowboy Bebop are definitely much better than others, so I can understand how seeing some of the lesser episodes might not leave a great first impression. It's worth giving a second look though, because it's an exceptional anime that even some non-anime fans love.

Anyway, other recommendations would be Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad, Great Teacher Onizuka, Full Metal Panic, Fooly Cooly and His and Her Circumstances.

Beck is an anime about the forming of a fictional band. It's not purely comedic, but it's got some funny moments. Worth checking out.

Great Teacher Onizuka is an over-the-top comedy series about an ex-gang member who one day decides to become a teacher. It's completely absurd and ridiculous, but definitely funny.

Full Metal Panic is a mix of action and comedy, it's pretty funny and it's got some cool mech battles too.

Fooly Cooly is just completely insane. Very funny though, if you can stomach how nonsensical it is.

Lastly, His and Her Circumstances is a romantic comedy series. It's pretty damn funny if you don't mind watching a purely romance-driven series.
 
Wow, these good choices, i have seen like the first 5 episodes of Wangan Midnight, its alright, but i dont think it compares to Initial D though.

Has anyone ever watched Shigurai? Its pretty cool if you like samurai stories and arent bothered by gore... or questionable scenes lol

Gintama, but i personally got bored of the fillers...

and why does this get its own thread and isn't being discussed in the general anime thread? that place is laid back enough that we can talk about manga as well.

Ok so we should create a "General Live-action" thread and cram all the other discussions in this section into that thread? That's what I was getting at.

Expecting all discussions on a topic to go into a "General" thread just because they can doesn't work out so great for individuals wanting to have a specific discussion on that topic who don't wanna have their discussion ignored and swept aside by other discussions occurring.

I have just seen a good anime, its a Adventure/Mystery. (why do people even bother putting action in a description, everything has action lol)

I highly recommend it to any fan of anime :) it has easily made itself one of my favorites!

In the General Anime thread, all we do talk is about Anime/Manga..its just not alot of users actually post there or don't get the craziness that goes on. We also have a Anime club. We do talk about live action also. The reason that there isn't a Anime/Manga subsection because it isn't as popular that it doesn't need it.

I forgot about the slangy colloquial stuff on the AUP. you can't possibly have that many favourites. narrow it down to 3 or something.

- Previous, plus:
- Neon Genesis Evangelion (too weird)
- Dragon Ball (too old to remember anything about it)
- Initial D (entertaining when I first saw it, now I look back and realize how stupid I was)
- Wangan Midnight (seen a few episodes, silly, but not Initial-D-silly)

And that's all I can think of...

All I know is the Studio Ghibli Anime, shown on tv in the UK, I like them all not sure which is my favourite.
 
I thought I named this thread Favorite anime/manga or something, not, "please post your argument and correct others grammar thread"... If u have nothing nice to say, don't say it. And it doesn't matter how many favorites you post, more the merrier.
 
Its either that someone points it out to you or have a nice warning from a mod. I did post my favorite anime but I also cut down to 3 show.
 
I also agree that it seems like we can keep all the anime discussion to the general anime thread. If this thread hadn't been mentioned there, I might never have noticed it, since I don't hardly ever check the Movies/TV forum itself, just go to the general anime thread when I get an email notice that it has new content.

It is nice to see all the activity this thread has generated, though, and all the new names!:)

That said, there are a couple replies I have for some of the above posts.

I personally was not very impressed with Wangan Midnight after the first half dozen episodes, but I'm very glad I persisted, because by the end I have to say it's as good as or better than Initial D (hard to compared because they are so different).

@HE1RO: great favorites list! Got me to look at Soul Eater since everything else on your list is also on my list.

Since I've already said I'd list many titles which have already been named and even seconded, here are a few I'd add that haven't already been mentioned:

I haven't seen a great deal of Anime but the 3 that stick out as really impressive would have to be 'Princess Mononoke', 'Spirited Away' and 'Afro Samurai'. I think they're all quite large productions which is why they are some of the only ones I've seen.
 
Seen the first two of those, Studio Ghibli work there.
I also like Laputa, castle in the sky.
