Hayao Miyazaki's the creator of Mononoke, Castles in the Sky and Spirited Away...Man's a genius scriptwriter

That can also get you into trouble.... please stop showcasing a hostile attitude towards forum etiquette.

By the way, that also contradicts this:

Look, im not trying to make enemies or argue just to argue. This thread is what it is.

Btw, i've wondered if afro samurai was good, i have Shigurai (which is very gory and... uhhhh, has themes in it not suitable for someone under the age of at least 16 lol) and if its similar then i would like it. haha XD

@jeffgodin, thanks, you will like Soul Eater, there is nothing to not like about it except it only has like 50 episodes (it needs more to be honest lol). I think ill take a deeper look at Mushi-shi, ive ran across before but i didnt watch it.

Mushi-shi is great, but a little mellow for some people. More in line with your previously listed favorites I might also recommend Gurren Lagan, much fun and craziness and action.

Its almost like you know... me <.<

I have all of Gurren Lagan on my pc lols its epic :dopey:

I thought I named this thread Favorite anime/manga or something, not, "please post your argument and correct others grammar thread"...

There is a reason why it is important to have correct grammar and spellings. There are other people who use this forum who do not have English as their first langauge. It is often quite confusing at times when English-speakers revert to text speak and slang words related to their own country (such as "lols" and so on). It makes reading what is typed much easier and straightforward to read and easier to contribute to the discussion.

Therefore this is why it is better to try and stick with a good grammar and spelling to show politeness and common courtesy to fellow forum users, regardless whether they have English as first, second, third or more languages.

To bring it back on topic, I have seen a limited selection of Anime. The one that stuck the most with me is "Spirited Away" from Studio Ghibli. This has made me want to buy more films from Studio Ghibli, unfortunately for me, it is rather hard to acquire them with the required subtitles and English dubs together, rather than the Japanese voiceovers with the English subtitles...Although it does not really bother me that much!

Having seen a film of Ghost In The Shell, which I got terribly confused with at first (did not realise you needed to watch the other parts of Ghost in the Shell to understand the running theme in it!) several times, I am interested in learning more about that franchise.

I understand where your coming from, i'll keep that in mind when i post.

I see you live in the UK and i don't know the internet rules and regulations over there, but Studio Ghibli is famous enough that i bet u could easily find them by other means online. It's just a thought, some would rather purchase their products because they feel like they are contributing, which makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. If u do decide to go the other route, look for "dual audio" HAHA XD

How ironic! ^

The Studio Ghibli or whatever it's called has produced some of the best animation I've ever seen.
Ghost in a Shell was the first proper Manga I saw as a kid and the scenery captivated me, especially when the chick is on the boat and it begins to rain. That coupled with the music in said scene is quite amazing if you ask me. I also really liked the concept of Ghost in a Shell.
What really does it for me though would have to be those cute Asian girls in these movies, they look like the girls in my office!

I don't have a problem with creating discussions about anime outside of The General Anime Thread like others, but this site still has rules. And you've broken two of them in this thread.

First, you have to use proper spelling and grammar.
Second, no talking about piracy. Period.

Studio Ghibli is somewhat different than Hayao Miyazaki. You probably mean that Miyazaki has created some of the best animation you've ever seen, and you're absolutely right. He's got a superb sense of both story and style, and yes, great support from Ghibli. Don't stop till you've seen everything he's been associated with, you won't be disappointed even once.

GITS the original movie doesn't get as much credit as I think it deserves. Yes, it's challenging to appreciate, but to me that means stimulating, with great style and music to go with the esoteric/philosophical story. Stand Alone Complex generally gets a better rating at ANN, but to me the original movie is one of the best things I've ever seen come out of the anime world.

By the way, you couldn't have picked two more different examples of anime to discuss!!

All the popular Studio Ghibli films are available in the UK on DVD, these come with all the options. I have a strong view on this, I only ever watch them in their original Japanese with English subtitles for me to read. Me not knowing the language makes them even more magical to me. Listening to annoying accents in English totally ruins it, shattering the illusion of the story.
I love the Japanese language (in fantasy stories), yet don't know a single word of it apart from the easy to connect arigato/thank you. I sometimes think If I learnt it I would lose the innocence of it's magic.
I also like Chinese in films like House of Flying Daggers etc. It's just nice to listen to.

Keep watching and soon you'll know more than you realize. I've probably got 100-200 words/phrases in my Japanese vocabulary now due entirely to getting familiar with everyday phrases used in anime. Maybe even much more than 200, hard to say without being tested. Of course if I ever traveled to Japan and tried to get by on the anime vocab I may get some strange reactions!

But I know what you mean about it being nice to listen to. I love music in foreign languages for the same reason.

I like pretending I can already speak Japanese by just spieling off loads of words that phonetically sound Japanese. Some people may call it madness.

No, I seriously only know arigato, oh wait also, saionara (sp?)
And also from car colours and the film Tekkoneekreet (cool anime) Kuro/black and Zero/white.

I bought the Studio Ghibli box set a year or so ago and there were many movies on there which I'd not heard of or seen before, I assume they're lesser known outside of Japan or maybe I'm just very uneducated when it comes to anime. The problem was that I did not come with English subs so my wife had to translate most of the sub for me because they were in Chinese.

baka!

I bet you know that word, daro?

Don't go throwin' that word out now that you know blaaah doesn't know what it means

saionara (sp?)
Sayonara, but you were close. 👍

That sucks. I watched Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away and Totoro in Chinese when I was little

I'd like to be a bit differen t in here, but I cant. Cowboy Bebop, FLCL and Evangelion are just too good to be relegated. In fact, I'm still waiting for the next Bebop. I've got provisions for a long, very long time, and a pretty comfy chair.

Initial D, of course. I also like Wangan Midnight, and Dragonball. DBZ is alright, but the original Dragonball is the best.
Other than that, I really don't watch anime.

Here's mine.

Ah! Megami Sama is BY FAR my favorite Anime i've ever seen. I've never became so attached to a story in my life before.

Initial D
Wangan Midnight
Chobits
Suzumiya Haruhi
Fruits Basket
