MR balances out nicely. A lot of super cars are MR.

FR for drift of course. Over powered FR for fun always. Shredding tyres is the job of any FR.

FR... always enjoy driving BMWs, and racing the TVR Tuscan and the Caterham Fireblade with all the aids switched off is huge fun. :D

FR for sure.
MR maybe technically better for balance and weight shift, but for my ease and enjoyment of driving I have to go for FR.

I enjoy MR and FR cars pretty much equally, but MR cars produce better traction and acceleration due to the placement of the engine closer to the drive wheels, so I voted that.

In a way, my favourite is 4WD. Because then I can set for myself the exact amount of rear power and the resulting power oversteer to the right amount.

I have a mix of all the drivetrains, but although each of them have their merits, I'm going to have to buck the trend (and risk sounding like an utter noob) and go with FF.

To me, they present the greatest tuning challenge (namely their lack of cornering ability with Comfort tyres) and are the most rewarding cars to drive hard and win with. A well-tuned FF can be deadly and outhandle a lot of RWD cars. Plus for the beginner, FF cars are the friendliest,

On the others:

FR - Best for balanced handling. Second favourite after FF. Used to hate them in earlier games as all they seemed to do was spin (I was only 10 or 11 at the time and simpler physics then) but then I manned up and realised just what fun they are - my GT4 garage was predominantly FR. Plus I love shredding rear tyres.

MR - Love/hate relationship. They win hands-down for agility but at the same time some MR cars are twitchy (read: 512BB) and I hate feeling like a wuss for struggling to tame them without TCS.

RR - Great fun with the slow machines (500, Bug, Kubelwagen etc) but I find myself losing patience with overpowered RRs. Saying that, I have several as there's something a little addictive about their on-the-knife-edge character.

4WD - Depends. In some cars I find it creates un-necessary understeer. However you can't beat the superior grip even with rubbish tyres.

Placing the engine in front of the driver is a fundamentally good concept - for a family sedan. ;)
I voted MR...

Front engine, front wheel drive, under 250 hp, with good tires and a really tight rear suspension. Makes it really fun to have good handling, low powered races.

I like my S2000. FR but the engine sits behind the front axle so it's almost like an MR layout (and has near 50/50 weight distribution).

In game, I like the mid engine cars, as they seem to have the best balance.

In real life, FR or RR works for me.

My very last choice would be front wheel drive. Boring............

MR is good for overall balance & serious racing, but I'd choose FR everytime cos I'm oversteer junkie & like back slippy cars, they're so much fun. Saying that, my fav car in the game is the 111R, then again it is very loose in the rear & rotates so easily.

:dopey:

Great poll & thead by the way! 👍

FR is my favourite but I have a big soft-spot for FF - they need to be driven in a very specific way but if you know how, you can really surprise a lot of people.
