What's your racing style?

Even though it's a game and there's no danger, I don't like to push the car too hard in a race, I try to drive in the game with the fear factor I would have in real life.
Also I don't care about winning a race in the game, I just focus on my line and try to drive fast in a safe way.

Truthfully, online I try to stay at a consistent 85% and capitalize on everyone's mistakes.

The majority of the time, even in a quality room, I don't have to attempt a pass. Just running close to another driver will cause them to lose their cool. Then they'll go too deep on the brakes or too early on the throttle and blow the exit.

That's why I loved shuffle racing. Just keep calm while everyone else looses their 🤬 minds.

Not sure whats the purpose of "pace early and late charge" and not sure whats the difference between the 2 and 3 (both are steady pace)

The key for me is to simply do not every lap but every corner as good as you can.

As clean as I can whilst keeping pace.

If I'm faster than the oppo, then I'll keep things neat and tidy, but I've been in a few races online on gt5 that have had me on the ragged edge for the whole race, just to keep pace with the pack(and I'm not particularly slow, even if I do say so myself).

So it really depends.

Also car and track. A track I know, I'll be more aggressive, but a track I'm not so familiar with will need more caution. Some cars will be so stable that they can be thrown around without any issues, others need a delicate touch to keep on the black stuff.

I wish tires would wear out faster in this game when people are driving on the very edge every single lap. I've made friends with a couple of guys and we like to play follow the leader around Nurburgring - and it is very fun! - but, if I'm going to do a legit race, I think tires screaming around every single corner should be a recipe for disaster. Unfortunately, for those who have years of experience at this game, it is not.

I have been enjoying the heck out of GT6 (as I'm totally new to online gaming and GT6), but I've already decided that if I do stick with this, I'll probably switch to iRacing in the future. I'm not saying there aren't any idiots in iRacing. Of course there are. But, people are generally much, much realistic in their driving style because you will be severely punished for any crashes or even bad spinouts.

depends on who/what I'm racing/doîng. AI=Dive Bomb/get the bleep out of my way. other humans Steady and wait for a opening. time attack,a combination of the two.

I think I'm pretty aggressive in cornering trying to get through the pack. I tend to make mistakes because of this, so there have been many of races being restarted. GT5 and 6 have made me this way by not giving us an option to qualify. I have hard times getting through championships because mistakes I make in the middle, costing me the gold.

I race to win so how I race depends on my pace compared to others.

During practice and/or quals, if I'm pacing faster than all others, I'll be more cautious at race start knowing I can make my way through. If I'm off pace, I'm aggressive from the start, trying to fight for positions and not give up anything.

In general, the shorter the race the more aggressive I become.

I start aggressive then pace. Seeing how majority of online races are less than 5 laps, if you want to win you have to start fast. And if you play it to safe then the bad drivers behind will usually ram you. Also I like to push people. Most people fold when they have another car pushing them. Then when I finally make it to the front I reduce my race speed to about 95% until another racers approaches me. And I always try to race as clean as possible, but if it's the last lap I might take a few more risks.

If I'm ever unlucky enough to be racing the AI I basically shove them out of my way......stooopid rabbits. If I'm racing real people I try to pace myself and race them the way I'd want them to race me (with courtesy and respect).

For driving style its more or less attack every corner depending on the car. For example of its a Red Bull I will attack the corner alot because I know it will do what I want it too but if its a car like the RUF CTR Yellowbird then I will go as smooth as possible.

Different story for racing because I will be aggressive when I need too but I will also be calm too. Aggressive usually for defending or attacking someone that I need to pass or dead last after a pit or something. Calm when I am by myself or when I dont need to pass someone. I dont really know how to describe it but I am a mix of both.

Depends on how well you know the car and track - but once you are pretty solid on what the car can do and what the track limits are I tended to be metronomic and consistent. - In that perfect zone when everything else seems to slow down and it is so easy to place the car - it is like an extension of your body. Then even the track becomes part of the driver+vehicle gestalt ...

Every brake point, every turn in, every apex, every gear-change...

Then you get lapped and you realise... you are the mythical slowpoke dinosaur of legend!

I follow The Good Racecraft Guide by @VBR very closely. I will not pass anyone if I have to make contact to do it or think contact is probable. I use my head and don't even attempt risky passes. I'll give a spot back if I made contact and cost them track position. My primary objective when racing, series or random lobby, is to race hard and do the best I can but always clean first and foremost, victory is always secondary.

BTCC/V8SC/WTCC-style. As close to walls, rumble stripping and curb hopping as best I can. Bumper to bumper through blind corners

Steady pace throughout, which usually gets me taken out early in online races... like my name suggests that I need help taking myself out.

I would say my driving style adjusts itself for the cars I drive but mostly you'll find a few of my familiar traits early on.

I'm quite aggressive when chasing other drivers but back off if there's potential for a crash.
In terms of outright pace, it's mostly me going all out like a banzi
Qualifying lap.
I drive with a slight oversteer set-up mostly due to me preferring a well balanced car. That and it also allows me to sometimes do a little showboating. :sly:

In summary, I'm one part clean, one part aggressive, one part adaptive and one part showman. :D

The best word to describe my style is: I just suck. Plain and simple. Fight to stay on the road, miss all the apexes, eat the grass...

Who cares about smoothness and speed when you you can challenge laws of physics (and loose...)?

Steady pace throughout probably fits me the best. I try to race as fast as I can, but I don't go slower or faster after a few laps.

I always drive as fast as I can without mistakes - most of the time tyre wear isn't a significant factor. However if there is significant tyre wear I will try to save the tyres for the last lap or two. I've been burnt in 6 lap spec races in GT before where I was leading laps 1-5 just because even if the tyres are only half worn it will cost a precious second or two on the last lap.*

*From GT5 online experience. The AI really doesn't really ask serious questions of your driving like online does.

Stay out of trouble and push when there is no traffic ahead. If there is a gap for a clean pass, I'll go for it.

First off, if anyone is looking for a clean, spec racing league, just click on the TRL Enduro Series link below. Now on to my driving style. I can be consistent sometimes when it matters, like if I'm leading the field. I can also be quite sloppy if I'm not concentrating or if I'm under pressure. If the race is a high number of laps, I normally like to keep a steady pace with a final push at the end if I'm within a decent closing distance. It also depends if I'm leading or if I'm deep in the field. If I'm leading, I try and conserve my tires and fuel as much as I can while still pushing ahead. If I'm deep in the pack, I just wait for mistakes from others to pick up spots until I'm close enough to the front. Oh and by the way, TRL is doing an 80 lap enduro at Autumn Ring with the M4 this weekend

Nearly 50% of people drive like maniacs...about like real life morning commute. This explains exactly why I have zero interest in online gamming.
Though I liked your post, it is POSSIBLE to find people that care more about being clean than being fast which can make for a very enjoyable experience.

The big problem for me is, I just don't play the game consistently enough to join a league with scheduled races which, I would imagine, would be the best way to play with people who know how to race clean.

I have heard good things about the leagues also, but like you, my schedule doesn't allow me to commit to one.
