As long as the wheels look half decent and somewhat 3d I'm fine. Just phocus on the cars, PD...
JohnBM01See-through wheels? This might help:

(^_^) No, silly. This is the lovely Pescarolo LMP, and in some of the pictures, you can see the brake rotors light up. And I think as another example, "Test Drive: Le Mans" featured race cars with glowing brake rotors. Even though the graphics were seriously not on par with Gran Turismo or Ridge Racer Type 4, at least it had something GT or R4 didn't have- glowing brake rotors.
SvenDid anyone actually read his initial post? He knows you can see the rotors, he's talking about seeing the road and through the underside of the car through the wheels...
MadduckUKiv never been concious of the wheels in GT3, never thaught "**** they could look better", they dont (to me) stand out against the cars, if the car detail was increased noticeably then yeah id want to see better wheels to stop the looking out of placebut at the moment there serving there purpose fine
radicool02Does it really matter what the wheels look like, you're never going to look at them while you're racing.
amar212This is the official PD's statement about wheels:
"As we have seen lots of fans are taking into concern wheels on cars, we have decided to implement full 3D wheels for each cars in the same polygon count as cars will have. Each wheels will be modeled of +5,000 polygons, which means +20,000 polygons per wheels on each car. In the same time, each car will be modelled from about +5,000 polygons, but in this way we will keep our fanboy base happy by allowing them to see wheels in full 3D, spectaculary modelled in the way never previous seen in video-game.
It makes us proud to say that Gran Turismo 4 will bring truly photorealistic wheels and wheelbase, with amazing level of details and precission. Even the scratches on calipers and manufactoorers insignia will be avalibale to view in replay mode.
Unfortunately, because of that, we had to do some minor changes in the game, so only two cars will be allowed to race on track at once. We hope that will not effect the gameplay, as - and we must declare that one more time - all the players will be able to enjoy in unbelievable believable wheels, in the way never seen besides the reality itself.
We hope that our fans will appriceate all the effort we put in into wheel modelling for the GT4.
Gran Turismo 4, now called "Gran Turismo 4: The Real Wheels Simulation" is scheduled for release in late 2004."
Hope this long awaited release will clear all the issues about the wheels in GT4.
