As owner of both Signature and Limited Collection (I have all Stealth/Chrome cars) I have nothing against allowing anyone to have them at some point, because I do not find any substantial value in such "virtual ownership". My rationalisation for higher price for both Signature/Collector Edition does not come from *having something nobody else does have*, but from values added from beauty of Signature Edition and additional Apex book I got from Collectors.
If someone didn't find value in "virtual ownership", why would one want it? You
must find some value in it if it's something you're seeking.
As for the second bolded statement, I buy collectors edition of all my games, for the goodies that not everyone has, virtual or physical.
Just a question would you feel the same if gt6 were released and you didnt play gt5 anymore? just curious.
When GT6 releases, I wouldn't mind if they released all the cars to everyone, I probably wouldn't have GT5 still installed on my PS3 to even worry about them. As someone else stated, we still have the physical parts of the Collectors edition, mine of which are still in it's plastic (except the book).
You paid good money for tangible hard goods. Not making virtual items created for the game available to everyone who owns the game and has an Internet connection, should be illegal and probably is. If I had the opportunity, I would have purchased the other editions. But they are not sold on this continent.
There's a matter of legality in this situation, not all cars (Edge Camero for example) have licenses for all continents, therefore not possible to cater a certain car to everyone. The only way to solve this would for PD to
not make the car all together, then everyone loses.
How would you feel if the only stores on the planet that sold PlayStation games, were physical Sony Stores?
I actually could go either way, I never download any games, only add-ons that aren't "disc worthy". I, by far, prefer physical media (call me old school) as I only by disc games.
ALL of the cars created for this game should be available to everyone. I'd be FURIOUS if I was one of the people responsible for making the Edge Camaro and was paid only units downloaded.
My DLC I paid for isn't doing me any good on my dead PS3. But I can still use my keychain, book, and enjoy the GTR die cast.
I highly doubt they get paid by the unit. I'm pretty sure they're all salary based. Otherwise, if GT5 took 5 years to make, how would anyone on the team get paid? Go 5 years without money?
With that said, it's only smaller dev teams that get paid by the unit. People that have "app like" games.
On another note, sure we got the physical aspects of the collectors edition, buy that doesn't show anything online, in a lobby. I still love it when I show up in lobby and everyone's like "where'd you get that car??".
I feel your frustration but that's not the way it works. If someone buys something as a collectors item (could be anything), they want something that's going to stand out and have something that not everyone has. Hence why we got the "Certificate" with a unique number on it.
