With GT5 now being on the shelfs for over 18 months, would it be safe to say, that all EXCLUSIVE cars that have been released, should now be released to the rest of the GT world.

Because I live in Australia, I was able to get all Stealth & Chrome cars, yet am unable to get the Gamestop Nascar/ SS Camero chrome because of its release in the US, & vise versa for everyone else.

So I would diffently pay for the 2 cars if PD decided on releasing them.

What are your thoughts on the matter.

I didnt buy the special editions so i didnt get those cars but i would understand for those people who paid for exclusive content to be upset if its released to the general public even though i wouldnt mind the cars.

I don't want my exclusive cars shared with the world, they won't be exclusive anymore. I paid good money for them, I don't want everybody to have it. Also, my Collectors Edition (which was nearly $100 at launch) wouldn't be much of a collectors item if they did.

This subject has been covered before....

I agree with Bluntified too, I paid extra for the Collectors Edition, and wouldn't be too happy seeing everybody driving round in the exclusive cars that I paid the extra money for.

If you want the extra cars, you will just have to go and buy the Colletors/Signature Edition of the game.

Both Gamestop Nascar and Shick Camaro SS cars were part of cross-promotions of US companies and their products/services for the US market.

I can only presume how those companies somehow "shares" copyrights for those two vehicles and how both of cars were made for US market only.

As owner of both Signature and Limited Collection (I have all Stealth/Chrome cars) I have nothing against allowing anyone to have them at some point, because I do not find any substantial value in such "virtual ownership". My rationalisation for higher price for both Signature/Collector Edition does not come from *having something nobody else does have*, but from values added from beauty of Signature Edition and additional Apex book I got from Collectors.

I would be very happy if all Stealth/Chrome cars would become available for all palyers because than I would be finally able to race them against my friends. It is no fun to have either Stealth beauties or M3/Murcielago Chromeliners and not be able to use them in races because nobody else has them.

Just a question would you feel the same if gt6 were released and you didnt play gt5 anymore? just curious.

After a year or so it's time to let go of some of that exclusive content and make it public to everyone else.

More than likely those who bought Special Additions of the game have probably let that stuff go by now. Talking about the game itself as well.

Agreed.

I don't care if those cars are shared, what I really paid for, were those goodies -and obviously the game- like the Apex book etc.-
So I wouldn't mind, unless you need to pay for them.

You paid good money for tangible hard goods. Not making virtual items created for the game available to everyone who owns the game and has an Internet connection, should be illegal and probably is. If I had the opportunity, I would have purchased the other editions. But they are not sold on this continent.

Spa, Motegi, Kart Space, and SSRX are all "exclusive".

How would you feel if the only stores on the planet that sold PlayStation games, were physical Sony Stores?

ALL of the cars created for this game should be available to everyone. I'd be FURIOUS if I was one of the people responsible for making the Edge Camaro and was paid only units downloaded.

My DLC I paid for isn't doing me any good on my dead PS3. But I can still use my keychain, book, and enjoy the GTR die cast.

As the Gamestop Nascar and camaro edge were not available in most regions and the stealth 787B, stealth R10, and chrome Jag xj13 were never released in the US they could at the very least offer only the exclusive cars not available in your region.

Also release the Japanese exclusive route x tesla roadster race and Alfa Romeo museum cards to everyone. Those were free of charge to them.

Unfortunately I have read that PD has said before launch they will never release these cars. I would say there is a .5% chance to get them on Christmas or the two year anniversary of the game and that's about it. Only saying this because Japan got the XJ13 chrome for x-mas a year and a half ago.

I wish they would release those DLC virtual things just don't have much value, and again most people that have brought the game way back when. Some have since moved on I doubt they care if we get those few cars.

As far as exclusive pre-order/collectors edition/region exclusive content goes its 50/50 to get it. In general it depends on the company. The US tends to get a raw deal most of the time though.

Where gt5 is concerned it is impossible to have a complete collection. The US has the edge camaro/gs Nascar/ that Europe/Japan need, Europe has the stealth 787b/r10 and chrome xj13 that the US needs, and Japan has the Alfa Romeo museum cards/Tesla roadster race the US/Europe needs. Not to mention to have the 4 stealth cars in the us before the free gt-r/nsx you would have needed 4 preorders or to spend $ on ebay.

Where other companies in comparison

Splitsecond had a bunch of company braned cars (gamestop muscle car, best buy 3 car pack, walmart armored truck) that never will be released. Not looking good for the gamestop nascar for that reason.

Rockstar has always been really good at it and even reassures there fans of it being released in the store before release. They are probably the best at releasing exclusives period.

Ubisoft with the exception of Assassins Creed (which everything exclusive saw general release) never does. All the Call of Juarez preorders never released. All the driver collectors edition content including actual missions never saw the store and the driver sf collectors never was available in the US to start. Ghost Recon FS pre orders are not expected in the store.

Ea is pretty good most of the time. I remember the big debate with Battlefield 3 and the gamestop pack which got that released from the uprising after they said it wouldn't be released. The only other exclusive I can think of not seeing the light of day was the dagger in The Saboteur.

Evolution studios is really good at giving Europe exclusive dlc that other regions do not see. Motorstorm 1 was the Delorean car, Apocalypse had tons of Europe only cars and livery pack dlc.

Codemasters is good at releasing preorder dlc. Although most of the preorder bonuses are Europe only, they are released in the store everywhere. Although there was a issue with Dirt 3's superteams pack and it only got released in the ps3 store and not the microsoft store.

Resistance 3 had a special pack with 5 exclusive dlc goodies in Europe only but if you got 5 preorders you could have gotten it all in the US on release. I am pretty sure 3 of the 5 were released for free in all stores though.

Then the company that made Brink said the pre-order costumes would never become available in the store. sure enough a few months later they did. Kind of playing devil's advocate on this one.

PAL never got 6 astonishing F1 replicas in GT3 that both US/JP NTSC games had.

That is something I still can't chew upon enough :)

And why those 6 cars are not Standards, PD? :D

If someone didn't find value in "virtual ownership", why would one want it? You must find some value in it if it's something you're seeking.

As for the second bolded statement, I buy collectors edition of all my games, for the goodies that not everyone has, virtual or physical.

Just a question would you feel the same if gt6 were released and you didnt play gt5 anymore? just curious.

When GT6 releases, I wouldn't mind if they released all the cars to everyone, I probably wouldn't have GT5 still installed on my PS3 to even worry about them. As someone else stated, we still have the physical parts of the Collectors edition, mine of which are still in it's plastic (except the book).

There's a matter of legality in this situation, not all cars (Edge Camero for example) have licenses for all continents, therefore not possible to cater a certain car to everyone. The only way to solve this would for PD to not make the car all together, then everyone loses.

How would you feel if the only stores on the planet that sold PlayStation games, were physical Sony Stores?

I actually could go either way, I never download any games, only add-ons that aren't "disc worthy". I, by far, prefer physical media (call me old school) as I only by disc games.

ALL of the cars created for this game should be available to everyone. I'd be FURIOUS if I was one of the people responsible for making the Edge Camaro and was paid only units downloaded.

I highly doubt they get paid by the unit. I'm pretty sure they're all salary based. Otherwise, if GT5 took 5 years to make, how would anyone on the team get paid? Go 5 years without money?

With that said, it's only smaller dev teams that get paid by the unit. People that have "app like" games.

On another note, sure we got the physical aspects of the collectors edition, buy that doesn't show anything online, in a lobby. I still love it when I show up in lobby and everyone's like "where'd you get that car??".

I feel your frustration but that's not the way it works. If someone buys something as a collectors item (could be anything), they want something that's going to stand out and have something that not everyone has. Hence why we got the "Certificate" with a unique number on it.

Yep region exclusive stuff is never fun.

Ah yes, the Polyphony 001 & 002. Makes me wonder why those cars or the F1 cars in the NTSC version of GT3, never returned in future games. Sure there is the Formula Gran Turismo and Ferrari F1 cars, but having a larger variety would be nice.

Simple solution: Make it cost X dollars.

Collectors/signature edition owners paid for them (and since most don't agree on free), so make those (like me) who want the chromelines or stealths do the same as the collectors/signature edition owners.

At the least, put the Gamestop NASCAR, Edge Camaro, chromelime XJ13, stealth 787B, and stealth R10 on the store so every region has access to them (with making the Camaro and XJ13 (maybe the NASCAR too) free).

I don't care if my stealth F1 or Gamestop NASCAR are put on the marketplace, everyone should have access to stealths/chromelines. Its just wrong to tease everyone who couldn't afford/obtain the collectors/signature edition.

Because I live in Australia, I was able to get all Stealth & Chrome cars, yet am unable to get the Gamestop Nascar/ SS Camero chrome because of its release in the US, & vise versa for everyone else.

Don't feel bad, I hear that Camero is just about impossible to get. Never heard of anyone having one, in fact. I've seen a couple of the Camaros, though.

What if???

How many times have YOU been to a Sony Store? I've been to Chicago'a about 3 times.

One of the problems with this "exclusive" DLC is the performance advantage. The Joey Logano GameStop Toyota Camry has more power than the other NASCAR cars.

What if what?

I check the Sony Store a few times a month, there are 2 big ones within 15 minutes drive of where I live so it's convenient. I don't, however, buy all my games there, I get most from Future shop here in Canada.

I agree though that some of the exclusive DLC cars have an edge but would you actually buy something that was less than what was already there? Would someone buy that GameStop NASCAR if it was a lesser car (performance wise) than the rest? I'm guessing no, why would one buy something to keep them behind?

I'm not a fan of on-disc Day One DLC in the first place, so they absolutely should be given to everyone. Make them prizes for special Seasonal Events or something, to drum up interest in the game for the community. Isn't the game being more popular in everyone's best interests? Everyone paid for their development, after all; whether they bought the CE/SE or not. It isn't like PD would suddenly start handing out the keychains or APEX books at the same time.

With the level zero ticket coming out with the leaf seasonal I would say there is a very very very slight chance of this happening but I hope it does :)

"what if" everything I said above was the way it actually is. "What if" the people who coded the DLC were paid solely on a unit sold basis?

What if you had a Sony Store 150 miles away? As I do.

The performance specs of the GameStop Toyota wee not announced prior to the game being sold. So, that had nothing to do with the purchasing of it from GameStop for 99.9999999% of us.

The situation (problem actually) of DLC has gotten way out of control. Developers/distributors honestly expect us to purchase games from 3,4,5 different retailers just to get "exclusive" DLC!!! When will gamers speak up and say "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH" and put a stop to this lunacy!!!l

I totally agree with your whole post here except for one thing, games are easily bought on-line and plenty of times, they're cheaper. I'm not knocking anyone who buys only downloadable games, I only said that I only buy things on physical media, it's a personal choice and I'm not pushing it on others nor implying they should do the same. I just rather a disc with a case and cover art, looks nicer on my shelf.

The days of one retailer selling a game is gone! We will never see a day where only one store has a game and have an exclusive edition made for everyone (ie, Collectors, Signature etc. not retailer exclusives). I completely agree that this is has a hand in ruining exclusive content, retailers want people to buy it from them so they do anything they can to make it happen.

Developer/Distributor exclusive content, Collectors edition/Signature edition etc., is perfectly fine in my opinion, they are just trying to sell the game they made. I don't, however, agree with retail store editions! They're just a middle man between distributor and consumer, they have no hand in the game.

Edit, If a dev was paid per unit, they better find a way and reach the mass market! They could only do this by making everything available to everyone.

Also not just in games exclusive consoles have lost it as well you get one edition your mate gets a different one it seems like these special editions are pumping out so rapidly that soon its all goingvto br the same.

Im fine with exclusive items but they really push their luck on how often.

To be honest, it mainly has to do with the publishers (not developers), but you have the point.

However, the answer is never, it will only get worse.

One of the most recent examples is unfortunately Forza Horizon (upcoming Forza spin-off open-world arcade racer) where pre-order bonuses for US market puts the *exclusivity badge* on the following models: Mercedes Benz SLS AMG, Ferrari F458 Italia, Aston Martin Virage and Nissan 370Z. Check this link to see the breakdown of online-stores with the particular offer.

What it means is how none of the models described above will not be available to *normal* owners or to people who buy the game from different stores. Worth noticing is how EU release will get an exclusive Golf RS for pre-order bonus, however it still not clear what will happen with above mentioned models being pre-release exclusive for US market when EU version is mentioned.

I am also among the small group who is very annoyed by the Forza's cosplay with the Porsche license and recent Porsche DLC (to be clear, I bought it and I love it, but it does not change my opinion on that matter). I see it as a great ploy made by Turn 10, Microsoft and EA where great amount of extra-profit has been made with meticulous execution of the plan to hold off the release of Porsche cars form the game in order to make the extra-profit later. I do not buy the official story how rights to Porsche appearing in FM4 were initially held by EA (every news outlet were writing down about it then), but with strange outcome of events Porsche license suddenly becomes available again, just in moment to coincide with expiration of the Seasonal Pass program and in the 6-months post-release timeframe. Yeah, right. And all outlets are pushing the story again, communities are praising the Turn10 and EA and everybody is more than happy to hand over 1600 MSP (that is 20$, like 1/3 of the price of the full-game) for 30 cars and 20 events. No retail. No physical costs. Just pay and download. Imagine the profits.

But I see no way out of this rollercoaster. It will become the future of gaming, where everything will go FTP (Free-to-Play) and where you will be getting the barebone game for free and pay extra for all content you want to have.

I see complete racing genre going towards iRacing model at some point of the future and to be honest, it is the reality we all contributed for. After all, *we* all want DLC cars, right? They make the game *better*, right? And my game is better than your game because it have better cars, right?

And publishers are doing nothing else but taking the full advantage of such mindset. I can't blame them, I would do the same at their position. Even worse :D

1. A friend i know pre-ordered Horizon in Germany at Amazon and gets the Aston Martin + other things.

2. The FM4 pre order bonus and LE bonus were available to purchase after a few months.

3. I buy the story with Porsche, EA and Turn10.
3.1 I saw a videointerview at a event an Greenwald was very very angry and annoyed after a person ask about Porsche and EA.
3.2 I think they already said that they created some Porsche cars before FM4 release and couldn't integrate them because the issue with the license.
3.3 The conclusion: I think they didn't done a fake story to make extra profit, because they were honest about what they did and said that they had some Porsche ready before FM4 was released.

I don't like those exclusiv bonus for retail or digital shops. I agree with the rest of your post.
