When Moderators Go Bad

Seems pretty apparent why BMW///M3 deleted all those posts. He wanted to remove all the threads he created thus removing as many posts as possible made by himself. When he said he was leaving I guess he meant it. He didn't want to leave any trace of his existance here. Quite sad really. :(

I guess he could have done more damage if he had wanted to. :rolleyes:
 
I don't think I should annouce this but here it comes. I was talking to BMW that night. He was planning on deleting the How Many Replies Thread. I talked him out of that so he went deleting his own threads. GVX is right. He wanted no trace of him left in GTPlanet. BMW had alot worse plans but thank God he didn't do them. I will not say them because it is not necessary to annouce. I do feel that the members should know what happened because its because of Jordan and the Members who make this place great!!

So what exactly had BMW so cheesed off at GTP?
 
Mmm - someone had a real go at him over his patriotic signature (someone who has not re-appeared) and he went ballistic.

The thread was closed off, and it quiet for a week or so, and then he started a new thread that went on with the issues from the previous thread, in the form of a fairly strongly worded rebuttal.

I put in my two cents, basically saying that he should let it go, here's why the other guy probably got upset. There was a bit of to-ing and fro-ing, but I thought the issue was settled.

Obviously not. His goodbye message was fairly non-specific in terms of why he was angry, but it certainly gave no indication of what he was going to do.

It's all just words and opinions. That's all...

Yea, and last I checked this was still a free country ... at least ... for the time being.

There are also these things called "someone else's opinion", which we, as humans, must respect. If we don't respect someone else's opinion, we can not expect our own to be respected.

Yea, like one moderator flags something to be deleted or edited, and all the other moderators get a message to confirm. Then there's a popularity vote or something. That sounds like a LOT of trouble, and a complete rewrite of the bulletin board code.

Jordan has already implemented a system that will inhibit this from ever happening again.

Moderator's no longer have rights to "Delete" threads, we (as moderator's) can only move them to the recycle bin for review.

:thumbsup: I think it's a great idea, and am glad that we can learn from our mistakes. ;)
 
hmm.....i thought things were a little quiet around here ....now i know why .....i have to admit though, i was getting a little annoyed constantly hearing about his truck and all the mods he was doing to it

Lets just be happy BMW didnt delete that thread, it is the base of this site.
 
Are those figures right? I have hardly posted in there - and I go from about 1060 to 7. When are they from? Or are they actually the number of posts people have put in that thread?

Not taking a shot or anything - just curious.

I think that's how many posts each member had in that thread. Meaning, those would be the ones removed.

I clicked on the amount of posts next to views in that thread and that is what came up all I did was copy and paste it in this thread.

On the forum mainscreen, it tells how many replies are in each thread, click on the NUMBER it gives, and a screen pops up telling who all has posted in that thread, and how many times they've posted.

That's pretty sad. A thread entitled "How many replies can we get" is the basis of a GT forum. It has more replies than all the GT3 threads put together.

That's odd...

The number of REPLIES should be a link, and the number of VIEWS should be regular text...Did you just get 'em mixed up, or are they both regular text for you?

I honestly don't beleive that it's the basis for this site, it's basically just a chat room for members to go to when they wanna talk to eachother...

I think you're looking on the wrong page, because Josh told you to look at the "main screen". He didn't mean the forum's home page, he meant while looking at a forum itself. Here, I'll attach a screenshot of where you should be looking (keep in mind that yours will look a little different)... :)
