When was the first time you had alcohol?

I was 8, and I drank half a beer during New Year's Eve. I don't recall any effect on me at the time, but I still think Budwieser tastes like piss, so little has changed.

I hadn't been ass-beat, good-for-nothing, puke-drunk until I was 22. And that's the only time. Buzzed, yes...drunk, never again.

If you can't practice moderation after learning that lesson once, don't expect any sympathy from me.

Edit: That's some of the worst typing I've ever done with 10 fingers.

13 was the first time for me. . . Ahh did that when I was 16 : )

I live in the US, so we can't legally drink till we're 21, but when I was ten I had a really bad cough, and our friend who is irish made me drink a glass of whiskey. (got rid of the cough though)

I only really drink weaker alcoholic drinks now. I enjoy the actual act of drinking whether I'm drinking alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks, so I have to be careful otherwise I get myself really drunk. I don't really have very good self-control so I try to be sensible.

I don't drink spirits (liquor) often because I find after a few shots I can't taste it much, so I drink more and end up really drunk.

I've learnt not to mix drinks, too.

The memories of a year ago are pretty thin, but I remember the rush of cold air as I was lifted out onto the porch to help me breathe. A paramedic said to my dad not to give me pain-killers because then I was more likely to learn a lesson.
I couldn't even drink water without throwing it back up the next day, but my parents were very good about it and that has helped me to try and be sensible, because I realise how frightened and appalled they must have been.

much to the surprise of a few of my friends, I've never had alcohol. Not that I would want it in the first place seeing as how my religion strictly forbids it. Maybe I'll have a puff or 2 of ganja sometime in the next 4 years but never more than that .
