When will people start driving different car's online? I suck at this game but I would still love racing people in different car's.So far everyone drive's the same 6 car's WTF

I don't know what game you are playing. I've seen a whole lot more than just six cars being used.

How about never

This behavior never changes in online gaming.

People will always pick whatever is the best so they can try and win vs online opponents all the time.

I've even seen professional NFL players use teams other then their own when they play Madden.

Even I have been sucked into driving one of the fast cars. It's just not fun when you're racing your heart out in your favorite car and the hack ahead of you is all over the place in a superior car and he still beats you by 5 seconds.

Yeah your right I mostly play shooter's online & it's the same in that arena except for Socom good thing it's only 2 month's away.I don't really get it though your still getting owned even if you pick the noob thing

When we get private rooms, I will start using different cars, simply because we then can arrange a race and all pick a certain car (or range of cars). As long as races are open, I'm going to pick a car I get along with and I am competitive in. And I don't see why I wouldn't. Why should I choose a car I have fun with, but can't keep up in? I can as well race offline then.

What? Then your forgetting the essence of playing online.Fun is key without it there's no point.Unless you have a super huge ego

So where's the fun in driving behind the pack without ever having the chance of getting closer to them? In the end, that means that I'm driving my three laps alone, and I don't see why I would do that online.

I think you may have missed what he was trying to say. Driving the car may be fun, but losing certainly is not.

One other thing, There are those who play for fun and those that play to win. I am betting that most of the people here play to win, while having as much fun as possible.:sly:

I don't think anyone drive's to lose or to come close to winning I drive to win but I will not drive a car I dislike just to place first.Everybody play's this game for fun & if don't wtf are you playing it for? There's like like 75 car's in this game yet only 6 are used top's 8 also what fun is winning in a video game if it's winning cheaply

I think you're missing out that not every car qualifies for every kind of race in this game. In the end, every race will hold a small number of cars which are ideal for it, and those will obviously be the ones you're going to meet online mostly. If there's not a single one you like you may sure pick another one, but then you are probably facing serious speed (as in laptimes) problems.

Besides, I have found a car for every kind of online race that I like. I certainly wouldn't drive something ugly just because it's quick. For getting one you like, there are enough cars to choose from.

Out of all the GTP people I have seen online, I'd have to disagree with that. I'll agree that everyone else out there is using the same cars all the time, but they are not here, and you are addressing this forum.
I've seen GTP'ers in Evos, Impreza's, R8's, NSX's, Viper's, Corvette's, F430's, DB9's, several other models. Although, thats just in PP600.

The problem is with the current car range, is that for each PP level, theres a few cars that are competitive and then the rest are trailing miles behind, its not an issue of not winning, its the fact that you can't keep within a 10 second gap behind last place!

Playing for fun is all well and good, and I agree with this, thats why I play. However, the reason I stopped driving the Jaguar XK and Ferrari 512BB online is the fact I wasn't racing anyone, the field got so far ahead that I'm just racing myself, it didn't used to be like this with the boost but now we can finally see which cars are truly competitive, its pointless using anything else if you want to actually race anyone.

Look at it from this point of view. Hypothetically, lets say there is a war and I dislike guns so I take a knife, which I like. I get shot and die before i can use my knife, or I can take a gun like everyone else and come out alive.

When there are different events which encourage the use of other cars then you will see other people using a wider variety of cars. For now, you will see the best cars out on the track because anyone with any sort of common sense will choose the better car.

By the way, you are totally contradicting yourself. You say you drive to win but you wont drive a car that will enable you to place first, i just don't understand that.

Whats not to understand? You can win without using the fastest car, the point is that the faster the car, the more hollow the victory, because you've won more from your car's ability than your own.
Its more rewarding to win with a car that is at a disadvantage than one that is expected to win.

The better the driver, the better the car. Put the best driver in the best car and that person will probably not lose and I highly doubt Michael Schumacher
will tell you he won more because of Ferrari than his own driving skill.

Once again, Ardius, I like your logic and you make a great deal of sense. In times gone by, I was a massive 512 and XK fan, simply because I found ways to be competitive with these cars, but since the tyre rules which limit everything to S2's all-round, I've stopped driving these cars altogether.

So the search was on to find something that was competitive, but outside the usual playing field, something that would give me recognition instead of being looked at as another WRX, R8 or Evo racer. But the level of driving online has risen to the point where it's near impossible to keep up with guys like Sarlach, Weary and zabeu to name a few and if you want to dice with these guys, you've got no choice but to step into equal machinery. The Audi R8 is my 'equality weapon' and it's not my first choice because although it takes a lot of skill to race with these guys at the very limits of speed (repeated laps in the 2'17's), it takes just as much skill to race a Viper or a Corvette or an M3 around Suzuka in the 2'21s for three laps.

That's why I have the utmost respect for you Ardius, because you're quite happy to put yourself out on a limb, in an uncompetitive car and show what you're made of and there is no doubt that you play to win. The competition around you determines whether you'll win or not, if you're dicing with a field full of Truth123's and Sphinxs and so forth, you can't hope to win in a Viper.

I understand your logic. You get more recognition driving a wheelie bin and putting in in positions where it shouldn't really be. At the end of the race, everyone scans the field to see who finished where and when they come across you, in a podium place in a Viper with 7 or 8 other drivers in faster cars behind you, regardless of who comes first, people sit up and pay attention.

I got a few messages last night congratulating me on the Corvette at Suzuka and whilst I never won a single race, it was a lot more than I could say for winning races in the Audi and not recieving any applaud at all. I'd like to say hats off to you Ardius, because you stuck out like dogs balls mate, the nutcase in a Viper who rode the bumper bar of MisterWeary, one of the best WRX drivers I've ever seen and your display of skill to keep that snake under control (I was behind you, I saw every twitch and every slip of the rear end) was testament to just how good you really are.

I wish more people would do as Ardius did and use a different car every so often. You might say, Angelx, that it's about bringing knives to gunfights, but guns jam from time to time and when they do, I'd much rather have a knife.

As for Michael Schumacher, I remember everyone say he was nuts when he first went to Ferrari and he did it not because Ferrari was the fastest car (the Benetton was), but because he knew if he could turn it around, he'd become a legend...

But an awesome car is nothing without someone talented driving it.
Take the NSX, for example. If the car was an easy drive, I'm sure everyone would be using it, but that's not the case.
Only a handful of people can control it properly and race it fast enough to beat the best guys driving other cars. But that's because the car can.
They could never do that on the DB9 or the Jaguar XK, no matter how good they are.
And there's no way around that.

Its more rewarding to win with a car that is at a disadvantage than one that is expected to win.
Although I agree with the statement itself, you'll have to agree that where things stand now, it's utopic.
There are truly fantastic drivers out there that can pull out almost flawless races on 6:53 (for example) using a few different cars. If you're using one that's down even just a second per lap (most of the "unused" cars are down way more than that), and they're already doing the perfect race, no matter how good you are, you will not win the race.

I wouldn't put too much weight on what car finishes where. I've driven different cars and majorly screwed up in races before, but I rarely finished last, simply because there always are other people screwing up as well. Then, there are the random staring positions, and so on...

Who cares what others are driving? just concentrate on your own race and let others drive what they want.

I personally like to drive the MINE's BNR34, which is not a so-so-used car for example. I was driving the Ferrari F40 and the BB512 too even if I was very slow with them because on the race there were a lot of better cars, it's just for myself pleasure, I just love them.

So it's all about each player, be patient 👍

People won't change their cars until the events/tyre regulations change.

I suppose it was the same when racing tyres were allowed in 600pp. The tuned clio was immensely popular but since the tyres were limited to S2's, i've barely seen a single clio.

It's still a fast car but needs to handled gently when exiting corners. Drivers who are very skilled with the NSX (timppaq, zabeu, truth) could certainly pull off wins with it:)

I like to drive slower cars and beat people with their Evo´s, Impreza´s or other fast cars :D

Of course i dont win so much then, but i can still be 3rd or 4th :)

yes i agree with what some of you guys are saying AERO_HDT and Ardius. i have nothing but the upmost respect for you guys in your c6/srt's finishing in a position like sub P5 in a quick crowd, i know how much work has to be put into to get a reward like that. the problem was when i was racing my f430 is that i was racing the punters instead of the clean racers and i just didn't find it enjoyable. When i'm in my WRX'05 i have more fun racing toe to toe with the front runners.

I'm much faster in my 05 STI but I constantly choose the 02 viper over it because I love to drive it, I'll agree in a feild with some fast drivers in fast cars I'm left behind quite quickly. If that happens I just drift :D on the other hand if the other drivers arnt up to par I can and do run with and beat them. If you want to win consistantly (or have a shot at a win consistantly) then yeah the PP's short commings force you to drive just a few cars, but if you dont mind a hard fought 3,4,5 place finish drive whatever and have a blast:tup:

Well, of course, but you seem to be forgetting that when Schumacher switched to Ferrari, they were the most laughable team in F1, their cars were horrendously unreliable, in fact, it became a characteristic of their cars for most of the 90s. With the likes of him and Ross Brawn and several others, that team turned around mighty quick.
Then again, could you honestly say that you are as thrilled to see a Force India win as a Ferrari or McLaren?

Wow...just wow.
I was only 2 or so races with you, and this is what you think of me? It makes me nervous to do good next time we meet!
I don't want to have to live up to such expectations!

Ok, I was a little exaggerative, but I was making a point to someone who sincerely didn't seem to understand why anyone would drive a slower car.
Of course I realise that driving a slower car reduces your chances of winning or in fact makes it impossible. I do not want to sound like I'm saying it takes less skill to drive a car that is known to be faster, no matter what that car may be. This isn't a matter of skill.
I was just making a point that it's more satisfying, at least for me, and thats the reason why I drive such cars, that and I personally can never get the hang of most 4WD cars, too much grip for my liking. MR's are fine, I quite like the NSX and will drive it online and still enjoy myself, and I am fast with it. I suppose it just got boring driving around in something that will win mechanically. I find it entertaining to see where my skill gets me in a lesser car, again, not belittling anyone who doesn't do this.

I'd just like to underline one very important point:
I do not think that anyone is "lesser" skilled for driving an AWD car or whatever faster car is there, neither do I consider it cheating or the "easy way out". I am simply expressing my personal opinion of what I enjoy and this obviously will not apply to everyone. I also am not saying that it's any less of a win in an NSX, R8 or whatever, a win is a win, regardless of how it is gained. Its just that, personally, some wins you will find more satisfying than others.

It makes me nervous to do good next time we meet!

There is only one direction from here :sly:

I agree with that too, Sarlech, both you and I have been punted more often than not and when I do race against you, I use the Audi so that we can break free of the pack and race at the front where a slight mistake, even a tenth of a second will cost you. You're one of the guys who pushes the racing to a whole new level, makes me forget about using the Audi and you just put the wildest smile on my dial (I'm a poet and I didn't know it). Racing against you, Weary, Zab and Truth mean that if I was in a Vette, I'd be ten seconds off you guys and I'd miss out on all the fun, hehe.

There must be some balance in the cars we drive though. I'd love to have a GTP Rear Wheel Drive weekend, where every GTP driver would use a rear wheel drive car for a weekend, I reckon we could all have as much fun as if we were all in 4WD's.

BTW, Ardius, your posts impress me, your racing impresses me, I'm not afraid to admit you're a cool guy! I'm not a wierdo or nothin, hehe!

Am I?

LOL!

Yes! Move to F1:CE for a bit! Back there I'm a complete noob right now.

Lol, I wasn't implying that, but glad (I think?) to hear that. I was more surprised by your outright praise of me, now 3 times. Just stop it, lol, I dont want to enter races and have to feel that I should be driving to a certain standard just because certain people are around.

I promise to setup a rear wheel drive meeting as soon as we get private rooms.

I always try to play with diffrent cars, even tho i know i will loose. I even chose Cappuchino in 600pp racing ! :) tune free! hahaha
next is CLIO, then Mustang! I cant wait for mustang.

But just like in real life racing, in top then always 3 diffrent cars win.

I rarely drive the fastest cars. After the current tyre regulations in particular, I took to driving the Audi TT in 600PP races, which certainly wasn't the fastest car. How many TTs do you see in 600PP Suzuka at the moment? I used it personally because I enjoy the way it drives, and I find fun in pushing it as fast as it will go, even if that's slower than the F430s, R8s and Evos that people mostly use. Despite this, I still managed to get regular podiums.

Before the tyre regs, I used to use the Elise in 500PP despite it giving away 70-80bhp to the FWDs sometimes, and I used the 512 in 600PP because it was simply more fun than other choices.

Recently, I've been racing more in 500PP. For a while I was using the Integrale while I got used to the shoddy N3 tyres, then I used the Integra which is the best handling of the FWD cars, but since Ardius set up the BMW Z4 races at London I've used nothing but this car. It's certainly not as controllable as the Evos and TTs you find in this class, but despite the traction disadvantage I've been getting wins recently by making use of the car's strengths (good mid and high-speed corner speed, lack of understeer).

I find the Z4 more fun than any other 500PP worthy car, and even if I wasn't winning I'd enjoy the challenge.

Again, as other people have mentioned - I agree with Ardius entirely on this subject. It's just a pity I don't seem to race him much!

The only way to get people to use non-unfair cars is to threat them with kicking from the room. I get folks in Forza 2 that try to use the 300ZX or the Lotus Elise or muscle cars many times, and I just tell them to change it or get kicked.
