Where are all the Spurs fans?

Right since the Spurs defense blows, the Pistons will win. The Spurs will give them a run for their money but I say Pistons in 6.

MOTHER OF GOD! What are you crazy!? Spurs are one of the best defensive teams in the NBA, if not the best! Spurs also have something the Pistons has never heard of.............. OFFENSE! Having said that, I think this one's gonna be close, but if the Big 3 of Duncan, Ginobili and Parker stay hot, you can forget about it! I think the Spurs will take the title in 5 to 6 games. 👍

You gotta be kidding me! Are you talking about the series against the Phoenix Suns? Yes, in that paticular series, they stopped focusing on defense(their specialty) and beat the Suns(NBA's best offensive team) at their own game. It was unbelievable. When Spurs started running with the Suns in the Game 1, I thought Pop(Spurs' coach) lost his mind!. He made me look stupid by playing pretty much the entire series that way, running and gunning and nearly swept the Suns.

Trust me, Blazin. Spurs can play the nastiest defense in the NBA. I don't want to take anything away from the Pistons. I do like them a lot and Larry Brown is my favorite coach of all time. But way Spurs shut some teams down is something else. I've seen my Blazers get killed by like 40 points couple of times, and that was back when the Blazers were actually pretty good.

Yup! I think this is gonna be the best Finals in a long time. I got to see the Pistons play in Portland this year, and must say, they play beautiful basketball. They really focus on the "team" ball, just like the Spurs. I'm sick and tired of typical selfish NBA plays, so it's really exciting to see two of the best "team" oriented teams play against each other. 👍

Now that the Finals is over, I am back to being terrified of the Spurs. Their big-3 is still young, are early in their contracts. Future is bright in the SBC Center, indeed.

Indeed. Congrats to the SA Spurs. I also heard that Larry Brown might quit as the Detroit Pistons head coach so the spurs' compititon wont be as tought now. There big three ( Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, and Tim Duncan ) will probley be even better now that they have won. Next season shuld be fun to watch the SA Spurs an the Phoniex Suns.

Excellent point. Also, the Cleveland GM job he was rumored to take..... well, got taken today. Not by Larry Brown, but by Danny Ferry. He's like one of the biggest loser in the NBA history. What are they thinkin'?

Actually, I wanted to talk about Michael Finley! He got waived by the Mavericks last night, under the famous "Allan Houston" rule. I hear the Spurs is gonna try really hard to acquire him, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I think Finley would complement the team. I really liked the role Stephen Jackson used to play when he was with the Spurs while back. I know Finley is past his prime, but if he'd sign for three years or something like that, he could help tremendously. How about three men rotation at SG to SF with Ginobili/Bowen/Finley. Yesssssssssssss!

I hear the Spurs is gonna try really hard to acquire him, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I think Finley would complement the team. I don't think I can see Michael Finley fitting in on the Spurs. I don't really see Finley as a "team player", and he's obviously more offense than defense oriented, which isn't what the Spurs are about. I think the Raptors should go after him, or maybe that is just the Canadian in me talking.

Finley can still contribute and is a proven scorer, so I'm sure he'll end up at another Run N' Gun western conference team. Heck, the Suns will probably go after him.

I actually never payed any attention to his defensive capability. I'm sure he can become a good team player though. Even Big Dog(G. Robinson) became a team player under Popovich last year!

And that's why I like Pop. I think many fans wishes their team had head coach like him. I guess the Blazers new coach Nate McMillan is kind of the same way, a real disciplinarian. 👍

I know, I know. But the thing is, Finley is already getting paid from his contract with the Mavericks, so it's possible that he'd take lesser pay to play for a better team. San Antonio has players you'd love to play with, plus, he'd be playing for his old team's rival. It would be a sweet revenge for him(so I'm hoping ).

The Lakers signing G Aaron McKie: Personally, I think this helps them more than most people probably think. They desperately needed an oustide shooter last year, and McKie brings them that. He can also play point guard at times, as he did in Philadelphia. Great free-agent pickup. 👍

The Rockets signing G Derek Anderson: Well, this adds even more scoring depth at the guard position to a team that is already deep. I always liked Derek Anderson in Portland (as I'm sure you did too a6m5), he is a proven scorer who should give the Rockets even more offensive punch. Imagine this as a starting line for the Rockets: Mike James/Bob Sura/David Wesley, Derek Anderson, Tracy McGrady, Stromile Swift and Yao Ming. Could be a very potent line-up, and the guys I have "slashed", can either play the one or two guard. As always though, the question will be defense, so we'll have to see if this team can defend.

Any thoughts?

He would get hurt, he doesn't want to play. When he did play, fans didn't know what to expect. He'd have one awesome game(still nothing spectacular), next two games, he tries to break the league record for most airballs. He was one of the clean cut player on our "Trail Gangsta" roster, but some suspected him of being a locker room cancer(it might not be true). I'm just glad he's gone!

Sabas was great. He had this amazing court vision, like Stockton, but better because of his height(7'3"). He's a living proof that some NBA players have eyes on back of their head. What sucks is, he came to NBA towards the end of his career. I bet you didn't know that Blazers drafted Sabas and Drazen Petrovich(European basketball legend) back in 1986. Also in the 80's, Charles Barkley begged the Blazers owner to trade for him(Philly just wanted 3 starters in exchange). If I was the Blazers GM in mid-late 80's, this would been the Blazers starting lineup: PG Terry Porter, SG Clyde Drexler, SF Jerome Kersey, PF Charles Barkley, C (young)Arvydas Sabonis. I can gurantee that Portland would've won 2 or more Championship with that lineup. MJ and Hakeem would've had hell of time trying to stop both Drexler and Barkley, while trying to stop Point Center Sabas.

Maybe the Portland fans(myself included) were little hard on him. He wasn't labeled a trouble maker when we acquired him, and he didn't get in any trouble while he was here(he's religious, from what his neighbor told me). I hope he gets a fresh start in Houston.
