With what team and during what season? Mine was with Sauber at Malaysia, Season 2.

What about you?

Melbourne, first season, Williams. To be fair, I played on Professional back then since I didn't want to waste the second season in the Williams and move to McLaren right away.

My first win was at the Australian Grand Prix in my 1st season with Force India. Won all 19 races on Hard Difficulty with 3 lap races usually about 3-5 seconds a lap quicker than AI which helped me do a whole season quite quickly. I probably should have done it on expert but I don't like driving with no TC as it doesn't allow me to attack the track as much and have as much fun.

Oh how I'd love to have driven for Williams in Season 2, but alas the only offer was from Sauber. I know I could've driven for them in Season 1 but I fancied a challenge and went for Lotus..

in f12010, it was Montreal, 2nd season, Toro Rosso

not playing on the hardest difficulty because i chose a 7 season career =0

Well, I would have just done it today in my first race, on Expert, with Williams, but a bloody AI car came out of the pits while I was lapping him, didn't get out of the way, got hit by me in my blind spot, and I received a Drive Thru. :grumpy:

Then, after an epic drive from 8th in the final few laps on a fresh set of options, after Button had an engine failure bringing out the safety car, I managed to take 3rd.

Well, armed soley with a keyboard (and on amateur difficulty), I picked Lotus for my career, and got 1st in Valencia, and then Silverstone. 1st pole was Nurburgring, and I came 2nd.
Just raced Singapore, and won by 30 seconds on a two stop, compared to the computer's 1 stop. The AI tends to be really slow in slow corners

Monaco - first season(and still in my first season) - it was pure heart pounding nirvana. Professional difficulty, damage, no abs, no tc, long race weekends, 20% race distance, racing with Force India as Sutil's teammate. So far picked up 3 race wins, 6 podiums, and scored points in every round.

Currently leading the driver's championship going into the Italian GP, just picked up my 3rd win at the Belgian GP from 11th on the grid - wet race, didn't pit for fresh tires and had Button all over me for the last two laps but managed to hold him off. Almost as epic as my first. Woohoo!

T500RS for the win !

first win was at 1st season in melbourne with force india and second season malaysia and im at season 3 now in melbourne.. with sauber

Sounds awesome mate, we should race online at some point. 👍

Melbourne, 1st season, Force India.

My difficulty was set too low, once we got on the hard tyres I was 3 seconds a lap faster than second placed Rosberg.

Hiked it up for Malaysia and now I couldn't even qualify in the top 10, despite setting a laptime 3 seconds faster than this years pole (Seriously Codemasters?). I wonder what Expert is like then, this is only the next one up from amateur (Does it go Novice-Amateur-Professional-Expert? If that is the case I am now at Professional - thought the other settings are custom, all driving aids apart from pit assist are off).

Is Malaysia on F1 2011 like Barcelona on F1 2010, i.e. near impossible to win in an inferior car?

EDIT: Oh wait, just gone on to do the race and the AI was set to Legend... No wonder I got destroyed in qualifying.

I did it on Hard like I mentioned above, that keeps some assists enabled. Anyway with the Force India I was usually 3-5 seconds a lap quicker. Usually my first flying lap was good enough for pole. I noticed in practice sessions, when track was wet, the AI was crazy fast, only when it dried out could I come back to matching them times. I think it was at Valencia. I got 19 poles and 19 wins though. I remember Barcelona race in F1 2011, I think it was my most dominate victory lapping 5 seconds a lap faster. Can't remember in F1 2010 but I must have won that on Expert difficulty. F1 2011 it is all about high downforce setups as I noticed when progressing. Hungary was especially fun throwing the car about. The difficulty ratings go Easy, Medium, Hard, Expert as far as I know.

I turned the AI down from Legend to Professional I think. The overall difficult is set to custom. I won my race at Malaysia (full length, 56 laps) despite having to pit in for a front wing after getting overnthusiastic on the throttle running 4th when Vettel and Button both made mistakes on the exit of a corner whilst following traffic (I thought I could take them both, so I put my foot to the floor and used up some KERS too, in the middle of a corner). The result was I span out and hit a wall and lost 30 seconds going back to the pits. My fastest lap was a 1'32.283, over half a second away from my qualifying lap and almost 3 seconds from the pole time that the legend AI set. I caught the frontrunners (Massa, Rosberg, Vettel, Button, Hamilton - no Alonso or Webber oddly) again around lap 35 and was matching Hamilton's times. It's odd, whilst the traffic is annoying and unpredictable, the other cars lose so much more time when lapping them, which allowed me to close up and win the race. Hamilton's best lap was a 1'32.500.

I will put the AI up to legend when i'm in a front-running car, but I just don't find it fun racing in the midfield and watching cars infront pull away. I don't want to have to fine tune my car for every circuit either, this difficulty is just right for me as I can challenge for wins, but only if I can be consistent. Overtaking is difficult too, so I have to manage my KERS effectively like in real life, which adds to the immersion.

The only racing I was doing is similar to what Vettel has been doing, pole to flag victories, and only did 3 lap races. Ended up winning races by about 10- 15 seconds. Downforce is king in this game compared to low downforce setups for F1 2010.

You don't really need to fine tune the car. I didn't, all I did is use the far right quick setup, lowered the ride height and put at least 7 on front and rear on downforce and usually my first or second flying lap was good enough to top the practice session. Expert with Force India could be doable, have not tried it. As Force India has Kers, it makes the team very competitive in the game. I had fun doing all the tracks in quick sucession, everyone seems hardcore on here by running really long races. I need to get the same mentality of you guys.

If qualifying is anything to go by, it'd be difficult to get far into the points with the Force India on Legend AI difficulty. Maybe with traction control on it would be possible, as that is worth at least half a second a lap in this game, kind of similar to SRF in GT5. I tend to just stick with quick setups, altering 7th gear if necessary (Like i've just had to do in China Practice).

I had the most fun that i've ever had in a racing game coming through the field from 12th in Malaysia and having to hold the consistency for the entire race, as the AI is within 2 tenths of my times when I do clean laps. I may put the AI on legend for qualifying in China and then bring it back down to professional for the race :D When you get to the frontrunners it really feels like you're in a real race.

It's not like GT5, the AI is fast where you are fast and slow where you are slow. In GT5 it's so difficult to get an evenly matched race, you often have to give yourself a slower car, which means you get destroyed on the straights and make it up in the corners. Aside from the lapped opponents which are rubbish, i'd say the AI is so good it could be like racing online.

Anyways, my first real win will be when I get a frontrunning car (Hopefully a Mclaren) and bump the difficulty right up. At the moment i'm racing with fuel and tyre simulation off aswell as racing on the level below Legend. This way, I avoid the tyre glitch(es) and my Force India is competitive where it should not be.

Under normal circumstances, and without the setup glitch, is it even possible to win in a Force India on Legend/Expert? Two seconds faster than me in Qualifying at Malaysia and they were within a second of my laptimes at all times and I was on the next difficulty down. (I'm not the best driver out there, not by a long shot. But i'm good enough to gold the time attacks and qualify for D1 in the GTP WRS)

At Melbourne I can set a laptime 4 seconds quicker in a Mclaren than a Force India, or at least that is what time trials tell me. So maybe a frontrunning car on Expert/Legend, would actually be easier than a Force India on Hard/Professional.

Seismica, are you playing the PS3 version? Or the PC/Xbox?

PC version. Is there major differences between them like different AI performance/behaviour?

I wonder if the AI performs better/worse with fuel and tyre simulation on, or if their performance is scaled in any way to race length.

Year 1 / Race 1 at Melbourne me and my mate we're doing a half a race each on medium difficulty in a Williams. He went into the pits 3rd but the pit crew were too timid to let me back on track so I rejoined 11th 👎

But I made my way back up through the field and with two laps to go I took the lead and from there it was a comfortable win. 👍

Peter.

Just checked - I am actually running it on that difficulty, I was mistaken. It is challenging so say the least... Blisters on the thumbs from some races.

Okay, i started first season on legend difficulty, with the force india team. My first chance of winning was monaco, qualified 18th (like most races) and made by way to front slowly, on the last lap in first place after the corner before the hairpin my tyre punctured and unfortunately finished in 4th place. In the next race at montreal, finished 6th which was nice. My first win however was singapore, qualified 18th, but somehow managed to get to first place by the 4th corner, due to slow cars and quick reflexes by myself. And beat alonso by 1 second at the end as he slowly caught me. And that's about it, just about to start season 2 after 2 more races, not picked a new team or renewed yet.

I started My first season whit a win:sly: in melborne whit force india on proff difcult:sly: It was difficult to remeber the KERS for the first time:crazy:

One interesting observation:

AI speed seems to be proportional to race length. I did 2 full length races in China only to have to crash on me both times. Then I did a 3 lap race here just to progress the game.

What interests me was that with the same AI difficulty, same custom difficulty settings (No driving aids and whatnot) and in race 2 and race 3 I was using the same setup, The AI was significantly slower in the 3 lap race than in the full length race.

In Race 2 I was pulling out between half a second and a second a lap with a consistent pace. With a slower pace in the 3 lap race I was pulling out a second per sector, and 3 seconds per lap. When all things apart from race distance were the same how can this be possible? Vettel was second place in both races  It was definitely still on the same difficulty too, I checked both before and after the race.

In other news, I got my first win on expert difficulty in a Mclaren the other night, outside of career mode. It was fairly easy, but the race distance was on 20% so that may have had an effect.
