I haven't clicked your link, I'm just going from the title...

There always seems to be a "centre ground"; all that is, is the void between whichever two parties are popular and/or vocal at the time. A slight shift in policy from one side towards, or away from, the "middle" automatically shifts this elusive centre along with it.
What would be considered moderate at one time can be dragged towards looking like an extreme by party politics.
