I think the lesson here is ......NEVER trust the auto save
When you get something good use the manual save button on the left hand side of the GT life screen.
Now that I think about it, that happened to me with the '02 Prius prize car. It said I got a White Pearl Crystal Shine chip, but I apparently never did. I didn't find out until later, when I wanted to use it.

You get a special paint chip awarded randomly for every 30 cars in your garage. 30 - 60 - 90 - 120 etc. These are matte or chrome (anyone every gotten anything else?) Gold chrome was added (the couple of reports prior seemed to be hoaxes) with 1.07 patch. It seems to be VERY prevalent right now. For many, MANY of us it was awarded when we got to our next milestone after the patch. From what I've seen there are far fewer people who DIDN'T get Gold Chrome for their next 30 than there are players who did.
You can cheat this as well, if you're so inclined. If you don't get the paint you want, immediately exit the game before you do ANYTHING else. It will not have saved the paint chip yet so you can start it back up again and you'll be awarded a new chip. Repeat until you get what you want, then hit OK.
From the pics ppl have posted it would be cool to have the gold chrome paint. Makes the car that much sexier . Thanks for explaining it, and for the extra tip hehe
I found it was the same for me when I won silver or gold chrome when the paints where sorted out in date received order. But when I changed it to type of paints ie chrome only there they were. Try it you maybe in luck. If not it maybe faulty auto save.
