To the best of my knowledge, the Monaco track is included in GT5. However, I can't find it if I wanna practice on it. Do I need to unlock it? How?

It should be located in World Circuits as Cote D'Azur.

Does anyone knows wich name is the real one? I mean if Monaco is the real name of the track how come they spell it Code D'Azur? jw

Cote D'Azur is the French Riviera (translated directly its the Azure Coast), which surrounds the principality of Monaco.

Monaco is the name of the race track, Cote D'Azur is the name of the region.

Probably licensing issues. Maybe conflict with Codemaster's F1 2010 - who knows?

"Cote D'Azur" means "Blue Coast" and refers to the area from French-Italian border until St.Tropez or so (this includes Nice, Cannes, and Monaco obviously.

Have been there on a bike trip. Really nice places though a bit too much touristic nowdays.

Cote D'Azure is the generic term for the surrounding area, Monaco is the country, Monte Carlo is the town... Whatever it's called it's a really poor version of a famous race track.

It's too wide in this game, surface is way too smooth, corners are designed wrong in the game and they didn't even bother to update it to how the real Monte Carlo/Monaco/Cote D'Azure looks like now.

It's a bit retro the Monaco on GT5... the chicane after the tunnel seems to have much bigger kerbs than I can remember but more noticeably the whole swimming pool section is totally different than the circuit in real life on which the first chicane is very fast whereas on GT5 it's wide and slowish like the older configuration.

Prost's face at the end is priceless. A "How the F... How could he..." face.

at 00:35 is my favourite moment. Exiting the Lowes hairpin Senna steps on the gas, the McLaren starts to oversteer and he makes the correction with one hand so naturally and on the other hand he is changing gears.

These drivers had BALLS, not like nowdays F1 kids.

Monte Carlo actually is a part of the town, the town name is Monaco as well as the country name. Cote D'azur is how this part of france is named, mostly the south-east part. The Track name is Monaco racetrack.

Well of course you can base the track off Monaco, however you cannot make it 100% Monaco, otherwise you'll run into copyright issues ect.

It's like to save money, you design every car Ferrari, Lambo ect. same specs and just take off the badge, you'll run into copyright grounds.

People seem to be getting confused over the region's cities. Monaco is both the country & the name of the quarter on the peninsula. Monte Carlo is the upper quarter; the circuit runs just around the bottom of it. La Condamine & Fontvielle make up the west & south quarters.

Geography Turismo 5 eh !
Well, Monaco is between France and Spain. It's a state-city.

I had a funny moment playing with an american.

He saw my french flag, so he said :
- Hey mate, where do you come from ?
- "Finland", I said just for fun...
- Ok, and that's Europe, rigth ?
- No, dude, it's in the east of Russia, lots of elephants and lions there.
- "Yeah, I knew that", he replied, very seriously.

Me and my friends laughed so much after that that we couldn't drive anymore... :D

Todays geography lesson, class, will be about Monaco:

(From Wikipedia)
"Monaco (i /ˈmɒnəkoʊ/), officially the Principality of Monaco is a microstate located in South Western Europe on the northern central coast of the Mediterranean Sea. It is surrounded on three sides by its neighbour, France, and its centre is about 16 km (9.9 mi) from Italy. Its area is 2.02 km2 (0.78 sq mi) with an estimated population of almost 33,000.

Monaco is a constitutional monarchy and principality, with Prince Albert II as the head of state. The House of Grimaldi has ruled Monaco since 1297, and the state's sovereignty was officially recognized by the Franco-Monegasque Treaty of 1861. Despite Monaco being independent, its national defence is the responsibility of France" :)

If they used the "real" Monaco, it wouldn't be allowed in the game. I think it is close enough though. And I wish they would/could do this with other real-world tracks...create a close facsimile, but not close enough to get into trouble.

So to the guy complaining about it...just be thankful for the track.

Monaco would be between France and Italy if it reached the Italian border, so it is essentially an external enclave (as it just borders France and the Mediterranean).

Off-topic

On the note of that American, I am sad to see how taxpayers' money goes to help our American children learn that Cape Cod is somehow south of New York City.

End Off-Topic

Hi, Monaco is in fact a Principality, in the South of France, it's run by Prince Rainier, he married a Hollywood actress named Grace Kelly many years ago who became known as Princess Grace of Monaco, i was at the 2010 F1 grand prix there, not much of a race, whoever gets poll position, usually wins it, but it has a fantastic atmosphere, going back this year, i hope this has helped.
