Does the ~70s 510 hold as much esteem in Japan as it does in the US? Granted it's a rare enthusiast here that knows them but they are held in high regard.

It is just odd that there are so many 70s era JDM coupes and cars like the 510 and RX-3 are missing. Not .to mention that nissan 2door sentra from the early 90's...would be welcome additions.

Were these cars only popular in the US? I know the 510 was popular in Europe. What about Japan...Why have they been ommited when there are so many cars included that are at least as obscure.

It's in the UCD. Nissan Bluebird 1600 Deluxe (510) '69.

Beat me to it. The Nissan Fairlady 240Z is actually just the Japanese version of the Datsun 240Z as well.

Apart from being the same car with 2 more doors? There's even a rally version of it in GT5, the Nissan Bluebird Rally Car (510) #4 '69 - also found in the UCD.

Of course, if your question really is "Why is [car I like] not in the game?" I'll refer you to the hundreds of locked threads of exactly the same type, particularly because this one seems to be about an alternate body style of a car that's already in the game...

What I am saying, is that the 2 door in particular was popular here. And it was raced here and in europe extensively.

I am curious if the exclusion of the car is due to lack of popularity in Japan. The 4 door is a fun little car...2door would have been better imo.

Thread is more about the reason for exclusion rather. I am honestly curious about the differing markets.

Any car that didn't make GT5 didn't make it for one (or more) of the following reasons:

* They didn't know about it.
* They knew about it but couldn't get it licensed.
* They got it licensed but couldn't get hold of one to model.
* They got hold of one but the model wasn't finished in time for release.

Nobody outside of PD knows which of these reasons applies to any car that isn't in GT5, we only know that it's for one (or more) of those reasons.

I am sure that list is longer.

Again, I am specifically asking about the popularity of these cars in Japan. Was the 2 door 510, RX-3 and late 80's- early 90's sentra or equivilant model badge popular in Japan? Were these cars only really popular in Europe/US. Are the considered the same way amongst enthusiasts.

How so? It covers all of the bases - the PD need to know of a car, be able to licence it and be able to model it to get it in the game.

That's no longer a GT5 query then.

Well, 5: They know about it but do not consider it a worthy addition...hence my gt5 related query. If a particular model isn't considered the creme in Japan it my miss recommendation for inclusion. Does the 4 door trump the 2 door.? Is the RX-3 some weird export only experiment? Did Japan not get the sentra in the same form we did? Also...it's a shame that sentra was never really succeeded.

I've often considered the "Do not want" option and though I used to include it I discard it these days - Yamauchi would include a Little Tykes pedal clown car if he considered it to be part of his goal of an "automotive encyclopaedia".

You must have that ready to copy and paste. I've seen this before. :)

I'm sure everyone could come up with at least one different car/model/trim/year (if not a dozen) that GT5 or any GT game doesn't have. It doesn't mean we'll get it, and there's a reason... we'll never know why, really.
