Just went to attempt the BMW challenges. Noticed a fair amount of them must have been offered as DLC instead of available on game disc.
Seem to be missing out on the....
M1 '11
F10 M5
M3 GTR
E60 M5
E92 M3
M Coupe?
Some of those might be listed, but I am pretty sure the GTR and M1 '11 not available on disc.

The GTR is a Unicorn, and the 1M is a DLC car for ordering your game at best buy i think. You wont be able to get the 1m until t10 releases(hopefully) it as a DLC in the future. The F10 M5 is a free DLC i think. All the other ones are in the game though.

Unicorn cars are wacked. Pretty lame i can't have a GTR or the 1M. The BMW lineup is wacked. Missing it's true sports cars. Guess i will not be using BMW's street cars in this game. Dumb marketing leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

BMW's true sports cars? So the M1, ur-CSL, M635i, E30 M3 et al aren't BMW's true sports cars?

Did you install the second disk? The E60, E92 and M Coupe are definitely in the game.

There is only two of the cars mentioned that you wouldnt be able to use but because you cant use those two your not going to use any? The GTR they give out weekly(or they used to atleast, dunno if its still going on), its probably one of the more easier ones to attain.

Not so much in my opinion. The M3 is closest I guess, but its not as
Focused as the GTR. The M1 is a lighter 1 series car I assume since I have not seen it. The other Bimmers are the heavier luxury options and basically all I can have since no DLC or Unicorn for me. I am inline for my first unicorn via besting CJ Wilson's king of the Track time. Kind of lame I will win the huarya, but not be able to collect it.

Theres a big difference between the 1M Coupe and the M1. I think you are mixing the two up, or you think they are the same car. I would always take the M1>1M

Yeah, more or less. Any time a developer takes something off the table or holds stuff back from me, I get annoyed. That's why I seldom touch DLC. Not including BMW's sportiest street cars, two in this case, on the disc just seems lame to me. My first and only choice for a Bimmer would always be the GTR or a light 1 series as second choice. I can't have either and am stuck with some big luxury coupes and sedans soo...i will just avoid BMW street cars in this game. No big deal considering the amount of cars already on the discs. But your talking to an old school guy used to the days before the internet when games shipped complete because they had to. This whole DLC concept and price gouging/fixing will always seem lame to me. But plenty of people don't mind being manipulated into paying more for stuff, so who can blame them for taking a quick buck from those people. I will be all right with the cars I DO have.

Just a quick point, games that used to ship "complete" took nowhere near the time, programming, budget, and manpower that is in the latest games.

Times change. Games change, the platform they run on change, and now it isnt usually a team of 3 guys in a basement, its a big industry. With the inclusion of consumer broadband "interwebz" DLC and patches are comman. In fact, so many PC games got "patches" even though they were complete. Why? User feedback and ease of distribution of the patch. Now its comman for a console as well.

Point is, price gouging as you put it is a bit extreme. Also saying people are manipulated is also far fetched. DLC is always optional. If you are old school, you should remember expansion packs. For instance Mechwarrior 3. Game bought for 40 bucks. Expansions (on disc) bought for 10 bucks each. That was in '99. Consoles have just caught up.

1971 BMW 3.0 CSL
1973 BMW 2002 Turbo
1991 BMW M3
1988 BMW M5
1986 BMW M635 CSi
1981 BMW M1
2009 BMW 135i Coupe
1997 BMW M3
2000 BMW Z8
2002 BMW Z3 M Coupe
2005 BMW M3
2003 BMW M5
2008 BMW Z4 M Coupe
2011 BMW Z4 sDrive35is
2008 BMW M3
2010 BMW M6 Coupe
2009 BMW M5
2012 BMW M5

I'm not even a BMW fan, but I know the above list is full of the fastest, sportiest, most legendary cars BMW has ever made. I don't get how you can be unsatisfied with that list?

The M1 is a lighter 1 series car I assume since I have not seen it.

The M1 is this...

The most sporty 1 Series is the 1M...

Try not to get the two mixed up. :boggled:

Thanks to X-Power for providing a convenient list:
  • 1971 BMW 3.0 CSL = Homologation version of a highly successful racecar.
  • 1973 BMW 2002 Turbo = One of the first modern turbocharged production cars, older than the 911 Turbo; the antithesis of "big luxury."
  • 1991 BMW M3 = Homologation version of a highly successful racecar.
  • 1981 BMW M1 = Birth of the ///M brand and lineage; if you want a "true BMW sportscar," this is arguably the only one in the game.
  • 1997 BMW M3 = Two inches longer, three inches shorter, and the same curb weight as the 1M you like. Not as powerful...oh, right. Forza.
  • 2000 BMW Z8 = 400hp V8 roadster -- need I say more?
  • 2002 BMW Z3 M Coupe = Popular track day weapon. Lighter and significantly smaller than the 1M.
  • 2005 BMW M3 = Inline-6 noise > V8 noise. Just sayin'. If you don't like the weight, strip it out.
  • 2008 BMW Z4 M Coupe = Possibly the last of the naturally-aspirated 6-cylinder M cars (the original M1 was the first). Smaller than the 1M, with the same weight, if I have to spell it out.
  • 2011 BMW Z4 sDrive35is = Same engine as the 1M as I recall, in a decidedly sportier body. Weighs in somewhere between the 1M and E92 M3.
  • 2008 BMW M3 = Sure it's pretty heavy. But if you're after a 400+hp V8-powered M3, I'm really not sure why you'd pass this up.

Free Run offers everything for free for a reason, you know. We've actually spent more time talking about these cars than it would take for you to try a few.

I have both in my garage tuned for A class, and my 1M is faster 'round most tracks. The 1M is actually one of my fastest A class cars....it's pretty fun to drive too. :) Maybe I need to work on my M1 tune? :boggled:

I wish i preorderd in time, but due to the many stores rumoured to not get enough copys of the LCE, i canceled the pre order and went to a small store and got them to actualy order it from theyr headquarters, wich got me the LCE, but lost me the alfa and the 1m :(

I realize time's change and all that nonsense. just pointing out where I stand on it and where it comes from for me. Yes, DLC is optional, but it lacks real choice. That's why I consider it manipulation. If I want just the Aventador, well I can't just buy that one can I? The Aventador was sold along with a bunch of cars that don't interest me. In fact, not one of Turn 10's DLC has any real value in my opinion. All include a couple cars that are real interesting for most of us and a hand full that are just new to the game.
If they are not trying to manipulate me, just give me them for 99 cents a piece or something like a song on Itunes. What would you do if whoever you get your music from bundled songs you do like with songs you don't and you had to pay for both to get one song you will use? I don't expect to change any ones mind or stop people from buying DLC, just express what it would take for me to buy into it., because I do want some of those cars offered, just not badly enough to get robbed over it.

If I want just the Aventador, well I can't just buy that one can I?
Yes you very well can. You save money buying the entire pack, rather then just one car.

You say your oldfashioned. Buying a CD and not liking every song on it is kinda the same thing of what your talking about here. Not every song is a gem.

No you can't get the Aventador by itself. It is locked to the November speed pack. My whole point is I don't want to be manipulated into buying an entire pack for one car. It is no coincidence that the most sought after cars, Pagini Huarya, Go Pro Suzuki, Aventador are all pack only. I am not saving any money when I have to buy junk I don't want to go along with what I actually do. Where is the value in that? Who else shops like that besides gamers because their forced to?

Not sure how old fashioned I am. Have not bought a full CD since the MP3 player, except for a few exceptions. Which is a choice I like. If the music industry can support a model where the Artists individual works are broken down from the Album they shipped with and parceled out for 99 cents each. Not sure why people except a manipulatory pricing system for their gaming.

Offering cars at 240 a piece and 560 for 10 is designed to make you feel like you are getting a bargain and paying less than 99 cents a car, which you are.
But if you only want three or four of those 10 cars, then you are not getting good value for your money.
I went to use an old 240 point card today and found out how the DLC pricing structure works, or in this case does not for me. I would have to shell out an additional 4.99 for 400 points so I can buy the November Speed Pack, which only has 3-5 Car's I am remotely interested in paying for, and be left with 80 left over points that will require me to pop for 9.99 and 800 points the next time a pack comes around I want. Even though less than half the cars in these packs are desireable to me and most I talk to. Couple that with the fact that I am not actually getting these cars I paid for, only the right to purchase them with in game credits? Forget it Turn 10/Microsoft.
This may seem like flaming to some or whatever, but it is not meant to be. Only stating my opinion and what it would take to get me on the DLC train too.

I hate pre-order bonuses because in my hometown we don't get the chance of pre-ordering

Play.com do preorder you can use the internet to preorder you dont have to go to a shop to do it and play.com get it to you for release day. I'm sure they are not the only online shop to do such a thing.
You can get the Bmw M1 from ebay just search for XBOX DLC codes.

If you want one car out of a pack, buy the car for 240MS. If you want three or four cars, but 720-960MS is too steep, buy the pack for 560MS. If you want a hand-picked group of cars that suit your interests for less money than everyone else paid for DLC, well...you certainly have the option to skip DLC.

You already bought dozens, perhaps hundreds of cars you don't want when you paid for the original game. Your choices are laid out above, and none of us here can change them.

Even though less than half the cars in these packs are desireable to me and most I talk to.
Adding "and most I talk to" does not convert your implication into fact.

You can drive any DLC car in Free Run straight away, like any other car in the game.

My whole point is I don't want to be manipulated into buying an entire pack for one car.
Then don't.

Bought three 1M's this afternoon. Oh where art thou, Bimmers?

Yeah, I saw you their are 1M's to be had in the auction house for under 50K.
That's not so bad.
Edit: Except I still can't buy them. lol

All pre-order and LCE cars are now available in the marketplace. You have to buy them, the season pass is not valid for them.

That sucks a little but if they're not part of the season then fair enough.

Season Pass holders like me are getting a slew of DLC already so I can't complain.
