It's fun to use the in-car cockpit cam on premiums for that immersive experience. But when you really need to put in the best time, or beat that rival online, which cam do you pick to get the job done?

With the GT series I've always been fastest with the chase cam.

I use the roof cam mostly. It helps me focus more on whats in front of me, because what is behind me doesn't matter. ;)

Probably fastest with bumper cam as its view which I always used in the previous games and it gives best view of track and corner apexes and braking points in my opinion as I could never get used to the chase view and the bonnet/roof cam was too high for my liking. In GT5 however I try to always use cockpit when driving any premiums as although may be slightly slower due to reduces visibility I just love the level of detail in the interiors and find the experience much more immersive and enjoyable.

Bumper for me, although I only started using this in GT4 and found it helped me when the car oversteered to gain better perspective of what was happening and how best to correct it. I like to think since then I have climbed a few rungs on the ladder of driving competance, but the bumper habit has stuck.
Before GT4 I would use chase cam, and I do seem to remember in GT1 & 2 there were 2 chase cams, one a lot closer to the car, which I preferred. Maybe I'm wrong though.

I totally agree. I'm much faster with bumper cam than with cockpit. But it's a lot more fun to drive in cockpit cam. It is nice to do it sometimes, just take a car out and blast around a track for a while in cockpit mode.

If I'm just gonna rape the leaderboards, bumper. If I'm racing or just testing, Roof. Why? Gives a little more fell for the car IMO.

Bumper Cam for standard cars, Cockpit for premiums. I pulled a 6:19 on Nurburgring with the Audi TT DTM car, forgot the name, but it was epic.

I had to answer bumper cam since that's the view I am fastest with due to racing in that view for as long as I can remember. But now I race exclusively in cockpit view. Unless the car is a standard, buuuh!

First person view is fastest for me but I stick with cockpit view if at all possible.

In other driving sims I used cockpit exclusively. But in GT5 it's way too bumpy in all turns and gives me a headache. Bumper or hood view. NEVER that floating crap. Lol

I'm faster using cockpit view as the steering angle helps me judge corners better (I'm using a DS3). Obviously with standards I can't use cockpit but I don't think I'm as fast with bumper cam.

Always fastest w/ bumper cam. Cockpit with no HUD when I want to just drive... Tends to worsen my lap times noticeably.

I never got used to the bumper cam. I like to see some bits of the car I'm in to feel like I'm moving it. I do agree that the cockbit view is way too bumpy sometimes.

For me, it's the chase cam. You can know exactly where the boundaries of your car are and you have access to visual clues in addition to pure feeling to determine the car's tendency to understeer/oversteer. It also makes for cleaner racing.

because what is behind me doesn't matter. ;)

Except that hungry FGT that's about to spin you if you go left or right and he's gonna ram it in there. For example, at Monaco.

The only reason i don't use the chase cam is because if your tailing someone right on their ass, your never quite sure just how close you are or if you are right on their tail you can't see them braking hereby causing a bump forward which is never nice..

For pure 1080p orgasmic visuals though, cockpit or chase cam is the way.

I was used to the hood view for some time until I went back to bumper cam. But sometimes, third-person view would help me get faster lap times, depending on the course.

I prefer to watch my car moving from outside only in B-Spec and will do so till Q Branch sends me the remote-controlled BMW.

Until then it's what I voted for - while playing A-Spec, of course!

feels different in other views I think (only on ds3) bumpercam feels most direct with the bonnet and behind cams feeling pretty numb can't say I use incar at all the hands moving on the wheel are just awfull
